Terriers are usually small and used for pest control. Spaniels are usually used as gun dogs, and are a little bit larger.

Re: the ragdoll issue. People don’t like to sell kittens as just “domestic shorthair” or “domestic longhair” cause it’s boring and they can’t get as much money out of people. See also: Norwegian Forest, Maine Coon, Turkish Van. Unless your cat comes with papers proving who it’s parents are, it’s just a plain cat and there’s nothing wrong with that.

The reason people don't really know cat breeds that much is because the vast majority of housecats are domestic shorthair cats, which are basically the cat version of a mutt.

Fairly certain that isn't a tawny frogmouth by the pattern of feathers on its head and neck, more likely a northern potoo. Also neither potoos nor frogmouths are owls, despite both being nocturnal they're more closely related to hummingbirds and swifts Source: am ornithologist

thats because most cats dont have a breed at all. cat breeds are a very recent development, and are mostly based off selecting for color/pattern/hair length instead of selecting for traits ideal for a job like dog breeds are. most cats are landrace breeds, specialized for the environment they live in, otherwise know as domestic shorthairs or domestic longhairs
