Btw the game is called Amok, and the book is called Amok Runner by Stefan Zwegi. So anyways, I read the cliff notes of the story that this is based on. Basically, the main character moved to India to a small village to study medicine, and the woman is the first white woman he’s seen in years, which is why he becomes obsessed with her. He finds out the woman wants a discreet abortion, and when she tries to pay, he says he’ll do it if she fucks him. Then, when she storms off, he follows her home and scares her more. She doesn’t want to go to him, so she goes to a witch doctor to get an abortion, which doesn’t work and she dies. He was following her, and came out when she was dying. Her dying wish was for it to not be revealed that she died of a failed abortion. In order to keep her wish, he creates fake death certificates. When her husband wants her funeral to be held in another country, he follows her onto the cruise ship to the country, and, when everyone is asleep, ties himself to the coffin and throws himself and the coffin in the water to make sure no one would investigate further into her death. The book makes just as little sense as this game, honestly. Why the fuck would he feel the need to kill himself as well? Even if they did figure out that she died of a failed abortion, it’s not like he was linked to it. He didn’t even perform the abortion. What the fuck is this book 😭😭😭

Charlie playing random Steam or low quality games will always be one of my favorite things on this channel.

This feels like the developers asked an AI to write a story and dialogue for them, but while it was somewhat successful in creating sentences, it wasn't smart enough to stitch them together and create coherent storytelling.

This game's voice acting is so good, it might even be on par with Charlie's part in the hunger games

I think he was in love with the lady or something, idk. She came to him for an abortion, he propositioned her, she said no, went to a shady clinic. I guess the implication is that the main guy could have done the abortion without killing her, and he felt responsible for her death since he tried to sleep with her to give the service rather than just taking money or something. So he felt like he had to unalive himself? Idk, I'm trying to make sense of what I saw when it was like a video game version of The Room.

Game: "You have to run away from the enemy" Charlie: "Run in circles, got it"

I totally love when he finds these kinds of strange gems. You can tell people really tried their best to do something here and Charlie can acknowledge that and enjoy it for what it's trying to do. It's totally fine for entertainment not to be this hyper polished (when done right), ground breaking triple A experience all the time

What a masterpiece of a game. The stock models, the automated voices, the stock animations and the fact that we actually play as a phantom considering he floats instead of walking. This is what GTA6 needs to be.

Charlie mentions how we don't even know the woman. In fact, that is precisely what the game is about. The word "amok" represents sudden raging anger or passion. In the doctor's case it manifested as a sudden strong desire for the woman. The woman goes to him for a discreet abortion. The doctor, overcome by passion, instead of money demands sexual favors as payment. This forced the woman to go to a quack leading to her death. This is what he feels guilty over. If he had simply done the abortion she wouldnt have died.
