I have 3 cats and obsessed with them. Had twins 8 years ago. The cats definitely are on the back burner the first two years but once life calms down it’s all about the cats again lol

The sound of a baby crying is very similar to the sound of a cat in distress or pain. Many well domesticated cats like yours may merely investigate, see it isn't a cat, and learn to ignore or "help" by snuggling baby. Or they may hide like the vacuum is after them 😂

In all seriousness I think it’s a great idea that you’re doing this and getting your cats accustomed to what a crying baby sounds like!

I do not think your baby will even cry much.... because of the calmness of both of you. That is a huge factor with babies.. and especially Kareem with his totally calm and centered being. My cats learned long ago that strange noises coming from my phone are meaningless. I used to be able to get a reaction by playing hawk sounds or cat fight sounds. Not any more. I did manage to confirm that an old cat wasn't deaf by playing a cat fight while she was asleep. Her twitching ears gave her away, but she didn't get up.
