Marie Kondo also saves boxes from previous purchases and reuses them for storage and organization! Reduce, REUSE, recycle, renew! Less garbage for landfills, less energy to recycle. Well done!

Plastic sleeves for vinyl records are just the right size to store a 12x12 pad (12.75"x12.75"). They're quite inexpensive (about $12 for 100), and can hold a 48-sheet pad. The plastic is thin and clear, but I haven't had any problem with tearing after a few months of use. I pull the sheets from the pad so I can remove them singly, and leave the cover in front for identification. The back cover is removed and repurposed as chipboard or cardstock, depending on the cover.

Ugggh I literally just started your video and am dumbfounded at the simplicity and why I haven't thought of using zip bags. I use them for everything. Why haven't I thought of using them for my die sets? 🤩

Thanks for sharing! I also prefer closed storage due to dust and “helpful” kitties. I like to store my inks and markers by color, because I am not familiar with the actual colors. I have the inks stamped onto paper, where I’ve written the color names to match the pads. I have the markers colored on grids that have the marker numbers. I take the papers to my project to decide the colors, then pull the colors from storage.

Thanks Jess! I use baggies to transport my card projects to my Chatty Crafters group but never thought of storing them in baggies. Great idea & the bags are very easy to find. Also saves on shipping charges. Keep on stamping and making others happy!

Hey Jess! This zip bag idea has totally changed my craft room! I loved the look of everyone's perfectly sized bins but it just didn't work for my in my space. I have too much stuff! SO, I ordered these bags, turned my stamps on the side and filed them in Iris bins from Costco! I can get easily 2x as much in the same space because they stack. Also, since I don't use every stamp every day, they will stay cleaner. Either way, Thanks for sharing this idea! I appreciate it and you!

Thanks for sharing these ideas! Every time I get a 12 X 12 paper pad, I take one of each design and cut it down to 6 X 6 since that's mostly the size I use and I have very limited space/storage. I put those 6 X 6 stacks in quart sized baggies like you do, then store them in inexpensive photo boxes from big box craft stores so I can easily access and browse them. It also helps me organize them by theme (Christmas, plain colors, florals, etc...). I've been thinking about adopting your zip top bag storage for my stamp collection! I'm currently just using the packaging they come in but we're moving next month and I get a WHOLE ROOM for my craft stuff 😍 Setting it up would be the perfect time to switch some organization systems around!

I love your practical ideas Jess! I also rarely buy any special storage/org items. I use lots of jars and boxes from food or other items. My homemade foam squares are in an old Ferrer Rocher container with a cardstock divider between the sizes. I also cut the tops off my stamp sets--it's SO much easier to find what I want when I can see the colors and logo on the top. If the packaging seems flimsy I reinforce the tops with scotch tape to prevent tearing, then move it to a zip bag once the packaging is too messed up. For now I use either rubber bands or a small bull clip to hold pads and their scraps/ephemera together but I will definitely try the freezer bag trick!

Hi, I get a monthly craft kit or two and also put the 6x6 paper pad along with the ephemera that comes with in a quart size freezer bag to keep things together including the scraps. The filled freezer bags fit in one of the containers that came with my Dreambox. I do keep the Dreambox closed when not crafting.

What a great video. I have that storage basket you have your Copics in. I stored stamps in it as well as markers. I went to a system if clear plastic boxes that I bought at the Container store. Yeah they are a little pricey but I love them. That system will stack. I put them on the top of my cart from IKEA. All the markers fit on the top shelf. I also put my charts and info on the side like you. I can roll it around. Other markers are on the other shelves. I am DEFINITELY going to change my stamp storage. I love your system. I like closed storage too. Thank you so much

So glad you found a marker system that works for you. I certainly don't mind paying a bit more if when it helps make crafting easier and more enjoyable so I understand springing for those pricey items.

Thanks for this video. I like seeing how others store and organize. Earlier this year I was inspired by another crafter to store my 12 x 12 paper collections in 2 gallon ziploc bags. Never occurred to me to use the quart bags for my 6 x 6 pads, specially partial pads. Will definitely give this a try. Would love to see a tour of your crafting area. What bag size do you use for the 6 x 8 stamp sets?

Thanks for showing some alternatives, I got some good tips from this video and the one you linked. I like to use what I have too, and I was surprised to see that you also use little boxes for storage and trays. I got some great small display boxes before they got broken down at the department store and they are very sturdy since they hold products, some of them have lasted years.

re: o.d. 1:49 … Using the bag the stamp set / dies came in: I like that idea for a couple of reasons. (1) Primarily, the original packaging, I think, would help ingrain the purchased items into my memory. (I have a terrible time actually remembering what wonderful goodies I have in my stash, and that C O U L D be due to making everything look so homogenous!! “Individualism” M A Y help me remember!) (2) Great way to pocket a bit of cash in saving toward a much more fun purchase!! SUGGESTION: I would however open that sticky flap on the bottom end and CUT IT OFF instead of the top edge; then invert the contents. I say this because I can’t believe it wouldn’t be so very long before sliding other bags in and out behind ones with the sticky strip down and back wouldn’t end getting “snagged” by that strip. Just a thought…

I LOVE the idea of keeping 6x6 pads in baggies! I typically do have scraps and I started out using file folders with labeled color names. For cardstock it's fine. Not so much for patterned paper. I found the price of stamp pockets off putting, but better than the notebook system I tinkered with. If found a couple companies on Amazon that had pockets in various sized for much less and I also use baggies. And shoe boxes and a label maker! Fantastic tips, thanks for sharing! Oh! I have a question. I'm kind of a newbie with alcohol markers and everyone stores them on their sides. Is it ok to store them upright? Because I like the idea of portability! Thanks again!!!

(( Hi, words… I didn’t see an answer from Jess to your question, so I’ll offer this response: Other crafters have stated in their videos that they store their markers on their sides - especially if they are double-ended - as that makes for more immediate delivery of ink to whichever end is needed. If they’re stored on end, gravity delivers the ink to the bottom end, making it that much longer before the opposite ends gets “juiced”. Also, as - I think 🤔- the ends are where the markers are labeled as to their designation, it makes for quicker i.d. Hope this was of some value to you. Be well. ))

re: o.d. 9:24 Alex drawers with DEEPER BOTTOM DRAWERS: Does anyone know if the Alex drawer unit can be turned upside down AND the drawers inverted & reinstalled?? I know we’ve all gotten used to seeing “little on top, bigger on the bottom”, BUT I’d R E A L L Y like some similar unit on wheels to be my e n c l o s e d craft cart, with a DEEP TOP DRAWER to use for vertical storage of scissors, pens, craft tools, etc. Kinda mobile desk organizer off to one side, so as not to impinge on my work surface. Thanks for whatever advice you can share.

I have some of those ziploc bags that are just over 12x12 and when I buy a collection of any kind, I keep it all stored together. I am all about finding the least expensive way to store anything. Actually now as this years cards 4 cancer drive is wrapping up, it gives me time to organize and restore what is out of place. I truly need to seperate my color cardstock again.

I purchased magnetic vent covers from Lowes, Menards, or Home Depot. I cut them to fit in the storage bag. I also glued the original paper backing the dies came on, to the back of the magnetic vent sheet; it made it a little sturdier. I also label them with name & how many dies. Hope this helps.

If you have a Daiso (Japanese dollar store) near you, they have strong plastic zipper bags, about 8 1/2 x 11, that are about an inch deep, great for storing wood block stamps. You can see through them so you can choose your stamp. They lay flat and are stackable in a drawer. ❤️🇨🇦
