I couldn't stop smiling throughout the whole video because you brought out my inner 10 year old. While growing up the trees around my parent's home were doted with little green paratroopers. Dad called them "winter leaves" because they would be the only thing left after fall. Over the years we would reminisce and laugh about those little guys hanging up there. That was 54 years ago. I showed this to my last brother and ordered some men. Today we went to see our dad, abd today the three of us put some leaves back on he trees. thank you.

This reminds me of when I was 8 in cub scouts. We would design protective devices around an egg to keep them from breaking. A pilot from a local airport would then drop the eggs from his plane at about 500 feet. He dropped boxes full of these egg devices and the eggs that didn't break, the designer would win a prize.

We used to do the same thing for a couple hundred kids each year the day before Easter. But we did it under our own canopies while skydiving from a Twin Otter. We would jump, open our parachutes and then deploy the little plastic paratroopers one at a time out of a fanny pack. Hundreds of kids below would run around and collect them. Once we landed in the huge green field an adult pre-easter party took place on into the night.

Now that is truly a safe, fun joy bringing experience! Thanks for making this one. Brought back memories of the early days flying with my dad for the pure enjoyment of it. Doing things like balloon popping (someone on the ground would release a helium ballon & you attempt to pop with the prop), flour drops and the like. Thanks again!

This reminded me of the little green army men from Toy Story and how if these little parachute guys had a life of their own, they would've all been serious about their little roles and treated this air drop with the gravitas that dangerous missions like these demand and require from real parachutists falling behind enemy lines!

I’m 81 now but I did that with my super cub back in 1964 when my home town was celebrating it’s 100th birthday. They asked me to drop a scroll on a parachute over town that they would put in a time capsule along with other things to be buried for 50 years. So I made a box with a door in the front and back and mounted it out on my wing like you did. It worked perfectly, however someone put a picture of me flying to low over town and it ended up in the newspaper of the city where the FSDO was located and I had a visit a couple weeks later from the FAA. I won’t go into the rest of the story…That was a great video! I had lots of fun playing with home made parachutes too when I was a kid.

What an amazing concept. Not that everything is about making money, but this would be an amazing format of advertisement. The obvious question is "Why?" The obvious answer is "Why Not?" Loved the video; all the aerial shots of the Kitfox taking off were truly spectacular with the lighting during that part of the day. I used to wear my butt out throwing and chasing my little parachute soldiers and Mom wasn't at all cool with my idea of grabbing the ladder to crawl up onto the roof for my flinging. Oh, to have a Kitfox and a 3D printer all those decades ago...that would have been epic!!

The 8 year old me: I spent countless days, weeks, years playing with these paratroopers. I became a SME on parachute rigging, but ultimately lost interest because in Arizona single story home, you rely heavily on a muscular lay underdeveloped arm to give the paratrooper enough altitude to allow the chute to safely deploy and enjoy it with any continued measure. Many years later, Hobby Lobby - a distributor of Graupner products, made an RC Parachutist. 30 years later, I still have it and it always takes me back to that heroic plastic man that was always up for an airborne adventure. “Keep your knees in the breeze Kramer!”

I was into them so much at 4 I tryed to jump off the roof of our house which was about 8 feet with a umbrella lol. I only sprang my ankle and had a sore ass from getting it spanked. I had some parachute toys, but I was usually disappointed with the weight to parachute ratio. They would always come down too fast for my liking. So I started making my own parachutes out of plastic bags and/or sheets of plastic, and string. My biggest one was like 3' around, and attached to one of those conical, plastic, hospital thermometer holders. They kind of resembled the Mercury space capsule, so I figured it was perfect. Of course, the larger the parachute, the harder it was to throw it up into the air high enough for a satisfying trip back down.

I did a mission similar to this with my own plane about ten years ago. It involved two parachutes that were 3' and 5' in diameter, and I dropped them with each having a load of candy to a group of people at a graduation party. One chute opened fine, while the bigger one got hung up on my horizontal stab. It was kind of hairy, but I also fulfilled that kid-in-me impulse. Problem was, I damaged my horizontal stab and had to replace it at considerable expense. It was actually not all bad, because we found corrosion on the ribs of the original. I no longer am current, but I had fun with my plane. It was not, for me, just a way to get somewhere, but was more a way of exploring boundaries and being a free bird. Not that there is anything wrong with going places....
