As a fellow asian also born and raised in the US, going to Mexico is truly another world, and i haven’t found another place quite as active or unashamed to be vibrant and themselves. Always ready to share their culture, food, and languages. People just seem to be more genuine in Mexico, especially when they have their big families around.

There’s a lot of Asians and Asian influence in parts of Baja California in Mexico and other parts of Mexico. They have definitely contributed and influenced some of the culture in the regions in Mexico the Asian diaspora is in. There are Koreans, Japanese, Chinese, Filipino, etc. Fun fact: The majority of the early population in Mexicali was actually Chinese and the cultural influences are strong there. There are also many other regions of Baja California, Yucatan Peninsula, Jalisco, Mexico City, and other states and cities in Mexico that definitely have East Asians and Southeast Asians and their influence though. Mexico City also has a good Indian population and they have an organization called Indian Women's Association of Mexico. Sorry I wrote so much, I just got excited because Mexico and other countries in Latin America have Asian Latinos! And it’s not a very well known fact Asians are considered “la cuarta raíz”, meaning the fourth root of Mexico. The first 3 roots would Indigenous, African, and European

With the Internet the whole world has become smaller in a sense just between us America's become very corrupt so It would be nice to know people that still have traditions

If you haven’t already, you have to try Southern and Coastal Mexican cuisine! It’s so underrated in my opinion. They also use a bunch of plantains and banana leaves which is rare for Northern or Central Mexican cuisine. But it’s just a very interesting cuisine and culture down there in the Southern and Coastal Mexico. Very different culture in each region as well. It’s almost like going into different countries with each region in Mexico

This is so beautiful!!! also Mexico is such a huge country filled with delicious foods that vary by region. In some parts of Mexico you are most likely to eat menudo or stews in general with tortillas, others with bread, and other regions eat their stews with red Mexican rice. Mexican cuisine goes way beyond and is so diverse.

Seeing you now is super cool that he was right and you have accomplished so much and were able to go to Mexico anyway. This made me hopeful that the same is going to happen to me.

I'm glad that you enjoyed our food, the batter used for "Chiles Rellenos" is just egg. You Whip the egg white so it takes volume, then add the egg yolk and mix it. Then you take your "Chiles" previously roasted, peeled and stuffed with queso (cheese) cover them in flour and dip them on the egg, then you fry them on a pan with hot cooking oil.

The best burritos I've ever had were in Ciudad Juarez. They are way different than the rice filled mission burritos you see in Northern California. The ones I tried kept it simple: no more than maybe three ingredients. The less is more method worked so well--especially given how well prepared the ingredients were. So much good food in Chihuahua!

As a Korean-American… My parents lived there for almost 30 yrs. Moved there from ATL,GA. They loved it. I have mixed feelings about ELP. My daughter was born there and that’s where I bought my first house, I have a feeling I must have been a Mexican, born and raised there, in a parallel life. 😂. I kept getting pulled back to ELP. ELP has been doing a lot to elevate the city, parts of downtown has changed soooooo much. The chilaquiles I love are different, tortillas with eggs, cheese, and green chiles. My friend’s husband makes the best and best refried beans ever, but they live in Tucson Arizona though. 😭🤣

Definitely like your video! As a Mexican-American, I enjoy this type of food all the time. Just for future reference, CH in Spanish is pronounced the same as you would say 'cheese' but SH is different since the H in Spanish is silent, with the exception of CH. When you say 'deshebrada' it's actually pronounced des-e-BRA-da because of the silent H.

THIS is how you appreciate cultures. Us Mexicans don’t get offended with “cultural appropriation” so pls go nuts. Enjoy Mexico.

I found your video and loved it. Deshebrada actually means shreded meat, just FYI. thanks for showing the good things of juarez and México. Most mexicans are very helpful and warm so you have nothing to fear coming to Juarez despite the bad press. Keep you coolness.

You need to have Southern and Coastal Mexican cuisine! It’s super underrated and we also use a bunch of ingredients that Northern Mexicans don’t. Some of our staples include plantains, plantain leaves and lot of fish! The tamales in Southern Mexico are made with Banana Leaves instead of corn husks. Love both tamales, but I’m a sucker for the banana leaf tamales

That was a surprise to see the menudo have hominy in Mexico. They typically don’t add it like in the US . Also I have NEVER ever seen it served with bread lol, I want it now! 😊

They mostly serve menudo blanco with bread (bolios) in Mexico City. In California we use bolios or corn tortillas with menudo & call flautas: taquitos, & are only served with guacamole-avocado. Not in a soup. We were surprised visiting my husband’s dad’s family in El Paso to eat this different style. Everything floating that’s called Brandao (bath). Now that we live nearby we make our own that we grew up with in Los Angeles. The Chinese markets sell the concha pandulce because both countries were influenced by the French.

I'm here in SF, known for our Mission burrito... I'm sure a bunch of people are going WTH with the burritos, although you can get that style in the video driving just 2 hours to Salinas.
