what if his controller flew out of his hand and smashed through the window and it fell all the way down and you ran down the stairs to get it and then the little tracking part on the side just snapped off and you used duct tape to put it back on and then there was a shortage of parts so then you couldn't buy a new one but ur like the vr guy so valve is like "Frick it he's the vr guy" and they send you a one made out of their leftover scraps made of cardboard and then it breaks because the base stations can't track it so then it starts freaking out and gives you a seizure and then you go to the hospital because your index controller flew out the window.

Regarding shockwave; If anyone from shockwave sees this comment; know this, once get a headset, I'm coming for you. So please, do what you have to do to stay afloat and keep innovating. Your tech is the most promising I've seen yet at a price point that won't break the banc. For reference of timeframe, I'm waiting on the Deckard (returned my Vive XRE, it just wasn't working out as I hoped) So once the Deckard comes out and is true stand-alone (or if a killer stand-alone comes of the Samsung-Google-Qualcomm joint venture), expect an order from me. I have a good feeling you guys will hit it out of the park, just look at what Slime has achieved. The time your brand reared its face just happened to be the worst and most challenging time but it looks like you lot overcame it! Hang in there, you got this! :)

As someone who's a partner in a small company that does electronics, all I can say is the struggle they're talking about is super real. All the huge companies could just buy their way out of the problem, but all the little guys were completely shafted when the part shortage hit. it's been a really rough couple years. I commend them for sticking through it. The fact that they're still around at all is a testament to their will to survive and to keep improving. I wouldn't hesitate to pre-order if I was in a place to financially do so (but I'm not, due to the same reasons mentioned above, things are tight. support the companies that are doing what you love)

I hope this video helps the company. They took a gamble by making their product affordable and sadly a massive shortage has wrecked havoc on them. They were ambitious and deserve to survive this.

honestly i feel like this company has a lot of potential, if they're making products like this with minimal backing imagine if they had a team that had the resources to look into new and better tech. Something like this suit could end up prehistoric compared to their future accomplishments, giving vr a more realistic feel and would bring more eyes to the vr community as a whole. We need a haptics standard that could hook into the sdk. That way, no matter what haptics you use, you would get a fairly similar experience.

I like the videos where you review lesser known items and appreciate your honesty. I like that you included the message from the creators and the full story on the kick starter. The last video you did with the EXIT SUIT created an AMAZING amount of community almost overnight for the suit and is helping it progress. It's great that you're using your channel to help this community and the hardware. Would you be able to follow-up videos in some amount of time from now to see what the impacts of your messaging was, and how these projects progressed?

I believe this is one of those situations where I think we as the people and VR enthusiasts should try to support this company so they can create a flow of these things for more people to use, so they can afford continued development and have a shot at competing before larger companies nom it all up. ~500$ for full-body tracking AND some haptics thown in there? Cheap enough to become mainstream.

Honestly, this is exact the sort of thing that makes me wish I had the money to spend on a proper VR setup. I genuinely want to support a concept like this. But I'm still relying on my (somehow still surviving) Quest 1 and VD to do anything VR related, so buying one of these is way out of the question 😅

That call really presents the harsh, true reality. This, technically, is of a niche group (compared to VR in general, then to other types of gaming). So, if not for the ones putting out content for those that could get others into this group, the economy behind this cannot progress. So, I get where they're coming from. Hopefully they get more ppl to preorder so that they can get the funding to keep the ball rolling and even work on improving the suit.

As someone who has backed a few projects over the years on kickstarter; some working out, and some not(Arpara 5k), the open honesty to the situation at hand is commendable as it shows humility but a strong belief in the product itself. I hadn't heard of this suit and already have the x40, but I will now strongly consider investing in this product for my collection. I appreciate you bringing attention to this product and what it is and isn't.

Shockwave has the potential to be something much more and pioneer further haptics and vr tech, there were unfortunate business decisions, but this video could do so much to help them, here's hoping!

So a few thoughts on this. This project is really cool, like insanely cool, and the fact that it is a real product that exists is insane. What he said about "I shouldn't say this as an entrepreneur" is correct, because it doesn't inspire faith in the company and the project. That being said, one of the scariest and bravest things someone can do is admit they need help and reach out. Doing so is putting aside all pride. I can respect that and I hope they get the support they need to not go under so they can continue to blow minds with new advances in tech. I believe in putting your money where your mouth is, so I'll probably be getting on the preorder of this when I got the spare time and money.

i was already interested in the suit when i saw it first, back in 2021, and now, with this video, it's just such an amazing piece of hardware and, even with the price peak, it's still such a good thing to see this kind of tech available to the consumers with a reasonable price. thanks for all that, really.

I hope they will pull it off! this projects just looks very promising! and if it goes well it will probably shape a new path for full body tracking and haptic suits

It sounds like it’s super important for this product to survive. Price is often the biggest barrier for people when it comes to starting VR or upgrading your experience.

The transparency and effort here is really refreshing. I already pre-ordered Slime VR trackers a few months back, but they have a haptic suit without the trackers for $279. I might actually go for it at some point since I spend the most time in VRChat. I really hope the company survives because they could really accelerate the development of haptic feedback suits by competitors and be the first to actually make them viable for consumers. Hopefully they do a software update to make re-calibration easier and tracking smoother

I know it would be a pain in the ass but I'd love more data in these videos. Like in a given set of time how frequent are the bugs and glitches. How quickly after setup do the first problems show themselves. Stuff like that is honestly really helpful in showing what we should really be paying attention to.

It's the right price at the right time, even at $500 a piece this is a good deal. So... I'm ordering one. It's not perfectly functional, but it's way better than not having either, and far more affordable. Ideally, Shockwave will eventually release their driver support code to Valve's OpenVR project so support can spread industry-wide, but just having the IMUs integrated into an actual suit is a boon in itself.

As one of the backers of this project that has yet to receive a suit, I just wanted to say thank you for doing this video. Their company does seem to be genuine about their attempts from what I've seen so far and had been providing regular updates about the project on their discord server and via kickstarter emails; though I will note the updates seem to have slowed down in the last few months which I suspect was due to their funds drying up and their priorities shifting towards fund raising to finish their commitments. I do sincerely hope this video will help them raise the funds needed to complete the project, but even if it doesn't, I still feel at least a little bit better for having seen this video and knowing that they're trying their best to get the project made, even if it is much later than originally expected.

When you said they will "subsidise the suits for Kickstarter customers with money from new customers" someone might understand it as you calling it pyramid scheme, but the guy was pretty exact with saying "we need to buy in bulk or not at all". I hope they will be they break even, and start RND for next version of the suit with less drifting and better haptics.

This problem is very common with the tech industry especially on the edge. Keep in mind if they get a solid number of pre-orders that can also use the info for private investors to help pick things up but yes in jun of 2020 the cost of mems devices took a page from space x it was crazy what once was a 3$ mcu or a 5$ imu was not 30-100$ each

Got to respect that its been this long since the Kickstarter and they still seem determined to see it through & do right by the backers. A company that does that is likely to continue to support and improve its products.

if these are the same shock suits that are improved from the last video of you showing off haptics then I am for sure going to get one, the fact that they are not asking a whole arm and a leg, and are a bit more transparent is nice aswell.

This is really wild. I was never aware of this company and their suit before this video but I’m blown away by it. The video’s great, the suit is awesome at that price, and I really hope their product goes somewhere great. If I had the money, I’d love a suit but I don’t even have a full VR rig that warrants it. It's a pipe dream, but I would love to see bHaptics and Shockwave collaborate. A fullbody solution with bHaptics level of support/integration would dominate consumer haptics.

The future of VR is something I am SO looking forward to.

I must admit that I've been in a Community that's had issues with pricing and getting things out, I've spoken with the people behind it and I've seen it go as well as can be. However I also was very skeptic that it wasn't a Kick-Scam, it doesn't seem to be, but now there's the payment issues; I really do feel for them wanting to price their product reasonably. The issues is now that they've proven do I pre-order at a higher price to pay for the Backers or do I continue playing the waiting game.

Virtually Odd returns, and with force! I missed this series, and I can tell you’re having a blast with it! Shockwave is definitely interesting! I do hope they manage to pull through somehow, but either way it looks like something a little special!

Ive been thinking about vr for some time and after watching ready player one a few times and chatting with ai chat bots i realized ai is the main source in creating the oasis because it handles graphics, realms aka servers, and it organizes everything and thats why ready player one is so smooth

As an early backer I REALLY hope this works, I don't think anyone in Europe has received a suit and I had honestly resigned myself to accepting I was scammed but I trust you dude so let's see if Shockwave can deliver Also, you didn't mention (maybe didn't know) that a year after the project was funded they asked backers for an extra £40 for 'additional shoulder and foot trackers', but at that time they were apparently already in trouble with spiralling costs so it very much looks like it was just ploy to get more money As I said I really hope the publicity from this video enables them to get the product out but I couldn't personally recommend the pre-orders as I just don't have enough confidence or trust in them for that myself

I'd love to see either you, or someone else if you have a link to it do a side by side with vive/tundra trackers using the same avatar in the same space, doing relatively the same movements and stuff. I'd tottally consider moving from vive to this if it means not having to slowly save up for trackers. But that if its pretty compareable tracking wise, even with the issues you mentioned.

I helped back this suit on Kickstarter 3 years ago. It's crazy. Maybe one day i'll finally get my suit.

Honestly, I feel this is a very genuine product, and I hope it can pull through. If I had the money, I'd gladly join the kick starter. No one really could have predicted the chip shortage. Yes, it sucks that the original backers fell left in the cold, but to make sure they didn't waste their money, shock wave needs to survive, and I hope it does cause of love to get one once I'm able to.

500 or 2500 I'd gamble I do think this Kickstarter has potential and I'm surprised the company is still afloat after the mess during COVID that sunk a lot of small business.

I love how the game industry has this side that is evolving to a path that will make people more physicaly active, contributing to end the sedentarism games, in general ,help to maintain, all this while making people more immersive into the games they love.

This product looks incredible thus far. If I had the funds to buy a pre-order, I definitely would contribute to the success of this company!

This is an amazing video. Editing, interaction, etc is all great. But the point is on shockwave. The kickstarter would scream scam to some people due to the price. Because of this, I think it flew under the radar, hurting it immensely. However, it is not a scam, as you stated, and would have worked out if the timing wasn’t garbage. Looking back, I can see the signs of a tech shortage but it was ultimately a case of “act of God”. I say this because they hade a lot figured out and ready to go, but unexplainable and unforeseeable circumstances caused it to fall. Do I think it’s dead? No. It has a physical product that was shown in this vid along with a company representative. They can come back from this if the price is made an even 500 to recover the revenue lost at the downfall. Backers will get their units first which will let them squash bugs and make adjustments. After that, they will ship to pre-orders. So, again, it is possible if done right.

I still remember seeing some early bird backer spots freed up and managed to get it before the kickstarter ended. I looked into it and found their numbers were relatively accurate from what I could tell and decided to invest... of course I only invested what I could afford to lose and have been waiting 3 years for the suit. I and a few others are still rather patiently waiting, but some backers are so upset that they keep saying it's a scam and they ran away with the money and such... honestly annoying af because it isnt a scam and they know it. Mostly it is one person trying to get their bank to declare a "purchase" fraud despite it being considered an investment. I kept saying they are likely planning something to get the suits out and get tech reviewers reviewing it, and even predicted this video a week or two ago and like before I am only more eager to have my suit. If I had the option to go back and choose if I would invest in this again, I would do so... likely I would just keep the more expensive backer spot as that could've helped, albeit not much more as I think it was only 40 dollars I saved. Thank you for the review Thrill, the suit appears to perform better than I hoped, though I still intend to build my own LiPo pack for it xP
