I spent 80+ Hours playing Dragon Age Inquisition to answer the question "Is Dragon Age Inquisition Worth It In 2024?"
With the coming of Dragon Age Dread Wolf, the fourth installment in the Dragon Age Series of RPG Games made by Bioware, I thought it would be a great idea to come back to this 2014 Game of the Year Winner and see how it holds up on it's own today.
This is my Dragon Age Inquisition Full Review, but if I've missed anything let me know and I'd be glad to discuss it in the comments.
So, is Dragon Age Inquisition Worth Playing In 2024? Let's find out!

Oh.. great memories!! Thank you!! I love DA:I and I played it many times. Such a great game. I love the ability to upgrade the Keep and watching it's getting better and better looking was very rewarding. That view from the balcony in the bedroom is amazing. I also usually prefer to 100% complete each area before moving on. The Descent was my favorite DLC too.

I love the game don't get me wrong this is not a criticism of negativity but I did kind of want the different choices you can make about skyhold to be impactful in the gameplay it was a bit bottom heavy but I love the way that spending time upgrading things in Awakening lead to a better outcome actual graphical changes in the cutscenes etc

Sadly DAO lovers will never agree because the story isn’t as in depth despite the gameplay being leagues better older gamers also love strategy and tactical games and playing DAI like that is not enjoyable at all😂

@@molerm9442 I’m 50… I don’t think it’s an issue of age. I’m able to love DA:O, DA:I and anxiously await DA:TV because I still find joy in new experiences… I continue to experience the world in a fresh way each day. I make room for change and growth in my own life. So many people today, of all ages, want to lash out at anything that doesn’t conform to their narrow view of what should be, instead of finding joy in things as they are.

Amazing points. Dragon Age Inquisition has been one of my favorite games since 2014 (along with Witcher as soon as it came out the year after). I watched your videos to reminisce on the game since I miss it so much and thought of it a lot on my playthrough in Baldur’s Gate 3 now. I love how you summarized the feel of the game and addressed really valid points without compromising the story for those who would want to experience it. Really great job! :) I am really curious to hear your thoughts about Origins and Dragon Age II! :)

Wanted to add that the reason I miss it during my Baldur’s Gate 3 is the character banter. It was quite entertaining and happening often, and I wish there was more banter and talking in BD3. Thank you again for playing the game and making this video!

I had a nearly identical experience with this game. All in all, I'd say that there's a lot to love in this game, but the places where it trips up are kind of crucial things that lose players. You never want the player to feel BORED playing your game. The biggest disappointment for me was the absence of the incredible atmosphere of Origins. In DAO, it really felt like Thedas was a living, breathing world with many layers of complexity and history beneath the surface of what your character was doing. DAI's Thedas felt almost juvenile, empty, and milquetoast by comparison.

I had basically the same reaction as you, amplified by my love for Origin. I just couldn't get on with how... arcadey? it felt, and having not long finished DD at the time the combat was a killer (Damn Dragons Dogma, you ruined me). Then I finished college, life got busy and my console died so it just kinda became a forgotten relic on my shelf. I recently finished Dragon Age Origins again after picking up the full collection on Steam and it was somehow better than I remember, I intended to play through the whole series finally, but after finishing Origins I just lost steam thinking about having to play through the next ones and remembering my brief experience with Inquisition. This video has somewhat brought back the urge to play through the rest of the series so I'm glad you went ahead with it. Now I just need to not be spoiled by Dragons Dogma 2, considering the 12 year gap since DD1 I'm baffled my urge to play Inquisition has been reignited once more only to be destroyed for a second time by Capcom. The world works in mysterious ways, or Capcom just doesn't want me playing Inquisition.

Destiny itself seems to be preventing you from finishing Inquisition lol. It does make me excited that you mentioned Origins was better than you remember. My main concern with that game was that whether people were viewing it through rose-tinted glasses, but the more I learn about it, it just sounds like it has a very good reputation for a reason. I was able to watch all the trailers since I used some scenes for the past two videos and it really seems right up my alley, especially because I'm big on dark fantasy more than high fantasy. I'll get to that game after DD2 though, but's high on my priority list. Also, you're in the end screen bro! Really appreciate the support, that means so much to me as a small channel.

@@Kaganath It really is one of those genre classics that is very hard to dethrone. I can't say it's perfect as it's a lot more methodical and clunky than some of its contemporaries, but the characters, lore and story are, in my humble opinion, top of the pack. It reminds me a little of the Witcher series in the way the series progressively gets smoother, cleaner and more pleasant to play but also easier, homogenous and less complex. Also, of course. You're making solid videos and I'm more than happy to support the effort you're clearly putting in. Hope to be here a long time and I'm looking forward to the games you cover in future.

Never completed it upon rekease. Replaying it now and its aged just fine, hell! Does some things better than modern games, like being able to zoom out and play it like a strategic rpg ala baldurs gate...if you fancy. The writink/dialogue is great too and the graphics are still great.

After you complete the main story line. I heard certain expansions should be played last due to difficulty. So, is there an order in which you should choose to play the DLC's? I am only 20 hours into the game, but I know eventually I will reach this point, any tips?

I'd probably do The Descent, Jaws of Hakkon, and then Trespasser in that order. Jaws of Hakkon was definitely the hardest though, in my opinion.

You mean not being able to access the DLC due to EA's buggy client and servers? If so then I haven't experienced it luckily. My girl didn't experience it too throughout her playthrough of all three games but I can't say for sure if that's consistent with most people. I still get errors though when trying to sync golden nugs from time to time.

So to recap Story is meh Combat kinda sucks Tons of fetch quests tons of regions but some are very generic looking (seen in video) Only redeeming thing of this game is some of the DLC. Yeah, I'm gonna take this outta my backlog and put it in the hidden section (I've tried it 2 times as well and couldn't get into it).

Weird game DAI. I've never played a game I've wanted to love but just didn't. Some of this game is absolutely amazing but also some parts like the writing in parts and game design was just awful. I played through it in full at least two times and I regret that I did. The DLC is definitely very good though and absolutely worth playing through. The main game needs a remake badly. It would be an awesome game if you cut out some of the cancer parts. The companions, the inquisition, the Templars, and the Quanari were all good to great. Seemed like willful incompetency in how badly the grey wardens, olesians, "rebel" mages, dark spawn, venatori, and main-ish villain were written. Honestly, I don't really care about playing another DA game because Thedas is too derpy after the bad DAI writing. I'd rather play good DA and replay the first two games. It's a cool world Bioware created so I'll still watch the in-game cut scenes on youtube after the 4th game releases.
