Grumpton finally calls me out of the blue but I just know he's after something. After a shocking revelation we tentatively agree to meet up but where we meet might be up to you.
Finally, I manage to get my grubby mitts on that medium format Hasselblad camera that Amanda has somehow procured but perhaps these rainy conditions are not ideal for such an expensive rig.
Deleting some of your best images either deliberately or accidentally is something you're going to want to avoid doing. But if you do, all is not lost.
I share with you how I recover images even if I did deliberately delete them just to trick my way into using my wife's camera. But I'm not the only one being tricked as Amanda demands breakfast in bed.
Not even a suspected leg fracture stops me from getting the shot but can that Hasselblad withstand the rain? Who will Grumpton bring on our road trip and what did Thomas Heaton do in that pub?
There's really only one way to find out.

Colorado: Ouray/Silverton areas for wildflowers, craggy mountains and waterfalls. Animas Forks for mining ghost towns, wildflowers and high mountain vistas. Keebler Pass near Crested Butte for wildflowers, high rolling mountains covered in aspens and bubbling steams. Ridgeway and Telluride area for high craggy mountains, highland lakes, waterfalls and flowers. Dominguez Canyon area for the look and feel of the desert southwest. Grand Mesa (world's largest flat top mountain) near Coalbran for large alpine meadows, wildflowers, lakes and small streams.

Oh yeah, I think there's a meet up of the F4 boys coming soon. There's been banter between Heaton and now Uncle Grumpy. Is Nick Page next to make an appearance or to be mentioned? Something is cooking, all these little name drops between you all is going somewhere, I am sure of it. Or I might be reading into it. Or maybe just hopeful? Nice waterfall photographs. As always, enjoy your content. It's a guaranteed laugh with a side of learning.

If you come across Canada and dip into the US at Michigan's upper peninsula, and then head down the west side of the state you pick up? - Tahquamenon falls - Pictured Rocks - Sleeping Bear Dunes - Lighthouses all the way down the coast with great sunsets. - No tides, the water doesn't taste bad, but it's still cold. Nothing is going to save you from having to cross the plains states. Though if you time it right, you might be able to get some good storm shots.

Last time you tested a medium format I was so impressed that I bought it...and told Fuji that they should have given one to you, they're not taking the hint! Amazing bit of kit, got some cracking shots of the sun setting at Thornwick Bay over the weekend. So compare away if you must but I can't afford the Hassy even if it is better, budget blown for many moons. See if the focus stack function is easier to figure than the Fujifilm or maybe that's just me and I need to read the instructions again. Thanks for the inspiration and good humour from you both.

Love that waterfall shot! Good stuff. As for US spots, the north shore in Minnesota is quite nice. Tettegouche state park is a popular stop but there's hidden waterfalls all up and down that road if you do some research. Lost Creek falls and Sugarbush natural area in Wisconsin are a couple of my favorites in the region too. If you aren't that far north, consider Cuyahoga in Ohio or Garden of the Gods in southern Illinois. And if you do make it to Colorado consider a get-together, I'd love to buy you a beer!

I see mentions of South Dakota Badlands, which are quite interesting, but I'd recommend Theodore Roosevelt National Park near Medora North Dakota. They're called the ND Badlands but are quite different and in my opinion offer a lot more landscape variations. In the North Unit, there is an area that has some natural "balls" being exposed in a cliffside setting. So much more than just that. There are 2 units. The South is right in Medora, and the North Unit is about 70 miles North, but good Hiway. Also there is Painted Canyon, which can be accessed via the Painted Canyon Visitor Center right off Interstate 94.

Would love to see a Fuji 100s vs Hasselblad video! Some of the biggest questions I'd have is on IBIS, weather sealing, DOF for the medium formats, and lens choices for long focal lengths. You didn't seem to have a problem with DOF at f/11 but I always thought it's more narrow for medium format hence why you may need f/16 to get the same DOF as f/11 on full frame.

Great video and some wonderful pictures. Always interesting to see some of Amanda's reactions to some of your thoughts. Upper Michigan (the UP) has some pretty cool places. Porcupine Mountains Wilderness Area State Park with Lake of the Clouds, the Presque Isle River and Union River can make for some great photography. And all along the shores of Lake Superior. Munising area and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore can be great. Lots of remote and beautiful small lakes in the Hiawatha National Forest.

Hi! Dude, you need to send her shoe shopping then tell her you’ll watch her camera while she’s gone. Don’t know your exact route but if you go by Cleveland Ohio there is a place called Cuyahoga Valley National Park. It has around a hundred waterfalls. I haven’t been there yet. Ausable River River in New York State The river is located in Lake, Placid, New York. It is definitely a stop if you’re coming from Nova Scotia you will be driving right through that area.

Having just bought a 100s, I am somewhat curious about the comparison and a large part of the hass/fuji decision was the cost of lenses. Therefore, for me I would love to see a comparison between differences in system usability/practicality of shooting as well as significant differences between similar lenses and how they might effect the end product.-shot.

My advice? On your drive, discover the Flint Hills near Matfield Green, KS and the Gypsum Hills west of Medicine Lodge, KS. Spring or fall are the best times to be there. You won’t believe you’re in Kansas. Also, don’t stop in CO and drive just a bit further to Monument Valley, AZ & Utah. Extraordinary all!!! Yes, I would like to see a comp review of the GFX 100s and Hasselblad. I have the former and along with several GFX lenses, I’m using a number of my old, like new Pentax 67 lenses with great Success!

I'd find it interesting for the comparison even though i'll never be in the market for either camera, It's good to watch a master at work lol. These video's are making me think a lot more about compositions etc rather than snapping away then being dissapointed later on. Amanda thought you were telling a fib-ula about your Fibula. My copy of Chasing Awe with Gavin Hardcastle doesn't work so well as a rain cover, maybe It's due to it being the downloaded version

You were walking down that slope like you were enduring a constant shartfest! Probably that new diet of yours, which clearly isn’t working if you’re still falling out of loft hatches. Unless that’s just because you’re getting old. Like many others, I was itching to get that big log out of the shot - but I bet it would have weighed an absolute ton, and then there’s the argument about leaving nature as you find it of course. Enjoyed the shots and the video, thanks.

I don't stop shooting because of rain, no matter how heavy. I use a rain jacket/hood over the camera. You could even go with a somewhat cheap underwater pouch or more expensive housing. In a pinch a plastic bag with some rubber bands or tape will protect the camera just fine.

It wasn't glamorous seeing you hold your beautiful book over a camera to keep the rain off. It was downright painful to watch! I almost got teary-eyed seeing the pages go soggy. I was a glamour photographer for over 20 years (did a good bit of landscape photography too.) and a bit of plastic over the camera didn't bother me. (I was too busy making sure hair, makeup, wardrobe, lighting, background, making sure the model looked natural and not stiff and a million other things.) A little practice using protection (and you do use protection in other things don't you?) a rain jacket won't slow you down.

Im very curoous how this compars to the gfx100s. I have the gfx100s and it is awesome for landscapes, cars and most items. But I am curious how is does with skin tones. I find the fuji a little too contrasty for my portrait likes and I don't shoot my kids with it and wont take on couple or weddings as such. It also glitched on me a few times so I'm thinking of getting out of it before it craps out.

Hi Amanda and Gavin, I'd love to see a Fuji GFX vs Hasselblad. I'm a GFX user but there is no denying how beautiful the Hasselblad form is, the colour science looks great on the Hassy, leaf shutter lenses for extra grunt with strobes. Love that camera, but the Fuji is definitely more in my price range. Have you mentioned what lenses you are using? Amanda you need to personalise your camera with a few unicorn stickers.

Acadia National Park (Boulder beach, the lighthouse, Cadillac Mtn.) 2. Franconia Ridge Trail NH (steep hike in white mountains) 3. Delaware Water Gap ( the summit point of the trail on New Jersey side) 4. Ricketts Glen State Park (20+ waterfalls on one hike, many of them photogenic when some water flowing) PA 5. Cuyahoga National Park in Ohio 6. Sand Dunes National Park in Indiana 7. Kansas Badlands 8. Colorado Springs 9. Colorado Corn Country If you take northerly route 10.
