Red trying to ride a Chocobo, hahaha! Pretty cool you get to actually play as Sephiroth instead of just the AI. Something tells me he will badger you about everything though. I saw that subtitle on him telling Cloud to vary his attacks more.

Ain't to proud to beg! The more you get to enjoy and do, the better good sir! Glad you got this opportunity and the game does look like it's shaping up quite well. Kind of a Dragon Age 3 open-world type of areas. Pretty big, but time will tell how truly large and open it will be. Very excited for the future!

They complain about the little changes for one, and they also complain about having to spend “another 70 dollars for the same story”. I’m like, well I spent 350 on the Collector’s edition with a big smile on my face, and I’ll probably buy the standard too that way I don’t have to open the CE if I don’t want to. And it’s not “one story”, they’re each their own standalone game. That’s like trying to say Lord of the Rings or Star Wars is just one story lol People are just dumb

Because that includes the 12 volume History of Middle-Earth(5000+ pages in total) + Unfinished Tales + Nature of Middle-Earth, in addition to the (edited) Silmarillion, the (constrained) Lord of the Rings, and the children’s story of The Hobbit, which Tolkien admitted in a letter in 1965 that it was so far removed from his legendarium that it could even stand on its own. And that’s not even counting all the notes he made for the development of his constructed languages, which one could argue was the central focus of his “Secondary World”, or the dozens of private letters he wrote expanding on certain topics of it. I doubt you have because of how confident you are in admitting you’ve never played the original FF7 and would rather hide behind ad hominem attacks of calling critics “crybabies”, “whiners” and “purists”. All this could’ve been avoided if you just forked over $20 to play the original on your PC, your console, or even your phone. And you still could enjoy Final Fantasy VII Reboot

I’m kind of disappointed that Sepiroth doesn’t absolutely own the enemy instantly. That was the cool thing about the flashback, to realise how absolutely amazingly powerful Sepiroth was and what a formidable enemy he really would be.

I can't believe they went through the effort of making Sephiroth playable in the flashback. That seems like a lot of effort for something you only get to experience for a few minutes. Are they going to have him be playable later in the game too? Maybe in the sequel?

Well they were never going to leave out the flashback so they HAD to make the effort really. If anything i think it could forshadow a part of either game where you fight as Zack and Sephiroth again.

The game has its linear sections, but at certain points you can access the full continent(s). For example, whike you travel to Chocobo Billy from Kalm, it's open continent. You can go almost anywhere on the continent. However, at a certain point, it will put you on a linear path for a little while like the Junon path. In fact, Chadley will help you out in the open world part.

I remember when I played the original and it was before getting onto the boat to go the other other side of the world and you had to do CPR or a drowning child. I couldn’t figure it out for like half an hour, those were good times. I made it to the golden saucer where there aren’t any checkpoints, that was months ago because I got busy.

The developers already confirmed that the whole map is connected. Not like FF16. The only diff is.. This is not like fallout 4 where at the start u can walk anywhere. It's more like different areas open up based on the story progress. But yes u can literally walk to every part of the map seamlessly

I really need to beat the original FFVII and then beat the first FFVII remake in time for this coming out! I recently got up to Sephiroth in the original game, but I was under-leveled and you’re essentially stuck at that point, so I’m going to make a new file. One of my top ten games ever.

The game goes up to the end of Disc 1 from the original. You don't get the Highwind until early in Disc 2. So I expect that's not gonna be part of this

A: I can't believe I've owned FFVII remake for over a year and still haven't started it 😅. B: The game that I feel in love with just from the demo was Legend Of Dragoon. Back in the day, I used to run to the Walmart electronic section so, I could (talk with other teens about games) but to play the PS1 demo disk that had LoD. Eventually I convinced my friend to buy it (I had the N64) so I could play it and she loved the hell out of it also.

SPOILERS OG7 : The highwind for sure is gunna be part of part 3. I'm personally hoping that a certain escape scene is the opening act tutorial like the incident was here. The titular airship makes the most sense in a grander scale game, like disc 3 was in OG7; Speeding across the map to intercept kaijus and fight gods. But we will see. I'll be pleasantly surprised to be proven wrong. We probably wont get Cid in party either since Vincent isn't playable, meaning 2 new characters per game.

They said the map was going to be one big seamless area. No loading and no zones.

Hamaguchi confirmed that the transitions between areas are actually fully seamless. I don’t think we’ll be getting an airship, but you can access dungeons and cities seamlessly which is unlike ff16.

This game looks AMAZING!!! The only problem is that I don’t have a PS5! I played the first part of the FF7 Remake on Steam, so unless I somehow get a PS5 before this game comes out, I’ll have to just watch a Let’s Play of it until 2 or 3 years later when/if it gets put on Steam.

Sometimes i feel crazy cause it seems I'm the only one who's not that big on open world, I like the Metroid Prime/Dark Souls/God Of War style of openness, Where you have a world to explore, But every area feels more fleshed out and unique. If Rebirth ends up going that sort of semi-open route, Ill be pretty stoked tbh. Still haven't played FF7 Remake yet, But this is making me wanna play it lol

Re: The Highwind: It might work sort of how flying works in Final Fantasy 14, only better. In that game, you can fly all around a zone, even over areas that are completely inaccessible, but you can't land there. I guess it's the same as in the original FF7, you also couldn't land anywhere with the Highwind, but you could fly over it and see it. Maybe in this, the whole map, even areas outside the zones, will be rendered and viewable, you just can't land there with the Highwind. That's how I could imagine it working.

I cannot wait. And trust me, I will be replaying the Neibelhiem section over and over. Just to get the most out of playing as Sephiroth. Back in the day, I had a Game Shark that would hack the game to have Sephiroth playable in your party. It was jankie and would often crash your game, but it was all I had. This is a dream come true, and I’m glad we don’t have long to wait.

3:13 Nice! I was wondering what they were gonna do about your "Extra party members" since you can only control 3 in battle. In Remake, they always engineered the scenes so that Cloud was only with 1 or 2 allies at a time. And even when all 4 characters were physically together in Ch.17, they had Barret....move the rubble in the corner, etc. There's no way they could keep doing that for the sequels so at least they found a compromise!

As someone who wants there to be way more than one performance category at The Game Awards: Crazy to note that, if they kept the fields to five nominees each for the six categories I'd want (Actor and Actress in a Sole/Primary Playable Character Role, Actor and Actress in a Secondary Playable Character Role and Actor and Actress in an NPC Role), the entire Actor in a Secondary Playable Character Role category would likely be STITCHED SHUT just a month into 2024. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth has, at least, SIX male secondary playable characters (Nanba, Adachi, Zhao, Joon-Gi Han, Kiryu and Tomizawa), so if the category was kept to five, they couldn't even fit in everyone confirmed for THAT game. My pick for "the drop" would be Zhao. But: No other game would have even A CHANCE downwind of that atom bomb, unless they temporarily boosted the category size. Yeah, not even Tyler Hoechlin as Sephiroth. With a temporary size boost of 10 nominees? Hoechlin would probably happen, as would Alejandro Saab as Akihiko, even if we're actually looking at 8 guys in secondary playable character roles in Infinite Wealth (Majima and Saejima seem...probable, if not confirmed yet one way or another), but wishing for more than 1 performance category to be neither inherently classist OR using the irrelevant categorization phrasing of non-interactive media (like the Spike Video Game Awards' category divisions worked) is probably a pipe dream anyway.

As a fan of 16 and 12, open zone is perfectly fine. Considering the scope and scale of 7 when comparing overworld model to towns and cities, an open world closer to 1:1 would be vast and mostly empty.

Dude, 12 was my favorite thing ever. I loved it. Felt like a Single Player MMO in ways. The new PS4 Zodiac edition expands so much on, so glad the updated it and re-released it.

Playing as Sephiroth is cool, although I'm disappointed that they changed the dynamic between him and cloud in combat. In the original, it's really emphasised how weak as shit Cloud is in combat in the flashback, with Sephiroth one-shotting everything and Cloud having next to no HP and dealing little damage. Following this up with discovering the Midgar Zolem impaled shortly after, you had a sense that Sephiroth was almost unbeatable compared to your party. Looks to me like they haven't quite hit that vibe correctly here.

it is done much better in rebirth from what I've seen. He still does like 10x more dmg than Cloud, but he is taking a role of a mentor, teaching "Cloud" how to fight properly, how they can coordinate, giving him tips, scolding him when he messes up, etc. It doesnt take away from his power, builds upon Seph's character as we see in Crisis Core for example and since he is in "tutor" mode, he is holding back for that purpose. Honestly, way more engaging and fun and realistic than him just killing everything in 1-hit. As for the comparison to the Zolom, I'm sure something akin to it will be seen in rebirth and they did a bunch of scenes in remake to already iterate that fact, no, it wont feel the same way as the OG unless you can delete your memory and forget that you already know who sephiroth is and why he is so strong. That sense you got is lost once you know ff7's story

I felt the same, but this Nibelheim mission is supposed to be a tutorial for the beginning of the game. They want to reintroduce the combat and train you in new combat elements. So it makes sense they rebalanced Sephiroth for gameplay purposes.

I’ve only just gotten past the first few bosses and I agree with you entirely. This is a FromSoft brother from another mother. Literally just as good with slightly different style. The main negative factor is it being derivative. For those of us that simply can’t wait from FromSoft quality when we are fiending for more souls-like gameplay, this is heroin. A stunning achievement for an absolute nobody of a studio. These guys have entered the ring with an intimidating effort.

Do you think Rebirth will have any form of transferring things from Remake? It'd probably be more convenient if not but even your materia transferring over would be enough of an excuse for me to replay the first one on Playstation since I had it on PC.

They already confirmed nothing transfers. If you have a save from remake you get some summoning materia early

Been wondering the same. Do I go into my ghost folders in Windows and delete those FFVIIR files or no. I have a feeling there's gonna be some facility to account for them.

You don’t….they give you level 2 materia and the basics I think, but everything else now is gone! But that’s alright, I think it will be more challenging and fun.
