I guess somebody else noticed, but when you fight against Vader with Cere, the fight ends when you drop Vader's health to around 10%. Means technically you never actually beated him, you just damaged him a lot until he kills you in the cutscene

I could see this happening in a cutscene. He’s about to kill you but the laser just blasts him away. You start to walk away and he just jumps up out of the cannon and starts tearing the weapon apart and throwing it at you.

I have an idea for boss fight design. I can’t stand bullet sponge bosses, which are all too common. It doesn’t feel immersive to whack an opponent (even Vader) with a lightsaber 100x before they perish. One solid strike is all it should take. So, for boss fights like this, maybe Vader has a “guard” bar. As cal strings together combos, Vader blocks. Some of vaders blocks are clean and thus do not fill the guard bar. But when Cal’s timing is good, Vaders blocks are less clean and incrementally fill his guard bar. Once the guard bar is full, Cal can deliver a well-timed strike that either kills or effectively wounds Vader (eg, moves more slowly, favors a side, etc). This is similar to a stun bar, I know, but implemented differently for better immersion.

My one complaint about this game isn’t really the high republic insert, which is a bad era, but more than Cere did way too well against Vader, he still had almost all the midichlorians the emperor and Yoda has after Mustafar so he could still kill Jedi masters pretty easily
