So you are comparing it to a $10 straightener ? ($10*50 =$500). Most people I know with thick coarse spend at least $200 on their straighter, so less than 3x price of med-high grade straightener. Is there a straightener on the market that can deliver the same results with less damage at a lower cost? An honest question.
@coin5207
@coin5207 3 жыл бұрын
The key to getting straight, frizz free results with less heat damage is using the right products and taking your time. To straighten my hair I use the L'oreal steampod at 170°C, a heat protection spray and _a lot_ of Chis' silk infusion serum. Of cource using more product is going to make your hair greasy faster but I'd rather have greasy hair and use dry shampoo than puffy hair that looks weird

@@EB-ob2ss no, I meant it's gonna look greasy faster as the week goes by, so I'd use dry shampoo to combat this. On the first day of course it doesn't look greasy with the serum unless you put it on your roots

Hi Lana, thanks for giving us such an honest review of the new Dyson straighteners. You achieved good results but as you say it just depends on how much you straighten your hair as to whether they're worth it. Also just wanted to note that $500 is equivalent to 375 GBP which makes them comparable to other Dyson hair styling tools - it just depends on whether Dyson as a brand is in your budget or not!

Hi Lana - I appreciate your review. But lets all be honest, Dyson does not make tools for natural hair. For £500 this should have made your gorgeous hair sleek in 1 pass but it failed to do so. Although you've mentioned humidity, it should have still performed well if it was strong enough for your hair. I have the same hair texture, and I use the Loreal steampod and my hair is straight in 1 pass. Granted is not cordless but it gives less damage to the hair. It helps lock in moisture whilst straightening it and it costs less 3x less. Also, I know this is personal preference, but I would never add as much serum and other products into my hair before straightening it. I feel that less is more and if we use the right products the result is pretty amazing. Too much product ways the hair down 🥺. Thanks for sharing your thoughts x

You CAN straighten with it AND it be connected to the charger 😑 it’s mainly chordless when you’re on the go or can’t plug it in or just don’t want to. But it’s not practical to make a device for HAIR that dies within 30 minutes and won’t work until it’s all the way charged again. It for sure will continue to work whilst on charge. You don’t have to have the charging dock for it to recharge. You can plug it directly into the bottom and straighten you hair the entire time. FYI

I wouldn't buy a straightener for that price. Two years ago I bought the steampod from l'orel for about 200 €. After that I realized that my hair could not be saved by any straightener. (it was breaking a lot). So I stopped using it and started wearing my hair curly... It still needs time to get healthier.

Dyson (as far as I'm concerned) is using and developing tip top technology, which requires a lot of resources, which means people to pay (unless you're a fan of cheap labor, I'm not), which means a higher price for the consumer. Correct me if I'm wrong. I. Dare. You. Lol🤷🏽‍♀️😌😅

Only if you go higher than the smoking point, which for most oils is around 236°c, my straightener was on the highest setting at 210c° at which point it is still protective

The purple is to die for,but 500.00?! I'd have to test it out on my hair first. One concern I have is that since there is an internal battery, is the battery replaceable? After so many charges the battery will not work cordless and you only be able to use it plugged in. If that's right then the iron may not last as long as a traditional corded straightener.

Definitely not worth 500 dollars, my flat iron was 100 buck and gets my hair bone straight, this flat iron doesn't. You're definitely paying for the brand name with this one, and not good quality.

I’m not gonna lie, it’s not worth the $500. It didn’t do anything amazing for your hair- even with the 50% less heat. You can turn a normal straightener down for less heat already.
