Hey friends!! Today I am going to be trying out the Jenna Rainey collection of Maimeri Blu Paints! I have been curious about these for a while now, and I am excited to test them out.
You can find these on Amazon! - www.amazon.com...
FTC: This video is NOT sponsored. All opinions are my own. I bought these paints with my own money.
Thanks for watching! See you next time!!

It is always easier to watch someone experiment with watercolor paints, then purchasing them myself. I have watched Jenna Rainy talk how she loves them. It’s not easy for me to shop, and I always go overboard on Amazon, little power. Thanks for your honest review, Karen Dirmish, learner! 0:49 0:49

Jenna has only experience with Winser and Newton before her switch to Maimari Blu. She has little or no experience with other brands or their pigment names. She didn't even know Quinacridone is a pigment used in all brands. She thought it was a fancy Italian name from the Italian company. I really like her but she's not very experienced and so neive. She totally trusts and believes the companies lies about the pigment ingredients.

I adore Jenna and understand why she switched- these paints contain less “toxins” which is very important to her. That said- I am sticking with Winsor Newton- I also like some Daniel Smith colors. Some Maimeri Blue colors are more opaque and soapy/stringy. The only one I use is the violetto. It does well with the tea- butter test and blends well with my Winsor Newton paints. If I want opaque colors I use W N gouache. There is a reason cadmium colors are so amazing, just don’t lick your brush. 😅

Maimeriblu is probably the profesional brand I like the least. It is certainly opaque, I dislike the bubbles and, when I compare its colors with other top brands, they are never my favorites. As they are expensive as well, I don't see myself buying this brand any more. The offer is huge, there are much better paints in the market. Thank you for your video, I wish you a happy new year.

I’m glad i got to hear your opinion on these paints. I also got them on Jenna’s recommendation. I’ve yet to try them on a painting. But this helps and now I can look out for the issues you had. When i use them i will let you know if i run into the same issue as you did with it “lathering”? But your paintings are so nice- esp the rose you showed towards the end. Can you make a video of that technique you used? I’m so bad at painting roses! Thanks for your fun videos. Very enjoyable 😊

Thank you so much! Yes, let me know what you think of them. I will definitely do a video on this rose! Thanks for the suggestion. 😊

Is it my imagination, or were they shiny in the dry down? What I love about watercolor, is the transparency, so I don’t think these are for me, but I understand that everyone has different aspects of paint they like. I’m a Daniel Smith fan, for the transparency and the myriads of colors. I do use other brands though, and handmade paints. I loved your rose❤

I got some also and they are different than their original formula. Mine are bubbling too! The company is obviously lying about only being made with pigment and gum Arabic. Certain they have a detergent of some kind added. Otherwise they wouldn't burst through water so fast.

I would love to see you go through your ocean paper watercolours and do a review as well as going through individual colours and switching them out. I’m very interested in them but they are extremely expensive particularly to get them shipped to Australia.

I have swatching videos on my two Ocean Paper Palettes! You should check those out if you haven't already. I might do a video talking about my must have colors from them.

I have several tubes and i agree they seem opaque. I do like them i find that i have to think a little bit differently while using them.

I have also wondered about these paints for a while now. When I saw the Jenna Rainey collection, I really thought about it, but I didn't want more black paint. Maybe that sounds really silly, but I don't use black very often. When I do, I know I can mix everything together and create one. LOL :) Then I saw Jeannie Dickson calibration with Maimeri Blue...#121 Yellow Vanadium, #125 Orange Lake, #131 Yellow Ochre, #256 Primary Red Magenta, #350 Turquoise Green, and #467 Quinacridone Violet Reddish. These colors were right up my ally. I took the leap. I didn't notice them being bubbly yet. I am going to watch out for that one. They defiantly were creamy and different then Winsor and Newton (never tried Daniel Smith). I was worried for a moment. When I opened the tube and saw how different they looked my first thought was, "oh no. I have been suckered into another product that is not what I thought it would be". Like you said, they are professional. I still need to try them on different papers and see how they react. I was using Hot Press paper from Legion last night. I really love that paper, but it will make watercolor look a little different then Arches. Never tried Ocean paper...another thing to add to my list of things to try. :) What you said about being able to fix lines for background...yes. It was a lot easier to correct some things with these paints then winsor. I understand what you mean about not being sure if you like them or not. I totally get that. I am not ready to throw out my Winsor collection and replace everything...but as far as the Jeannie Dickson collection went...I made some AMAZING colors. I enjoyed the different texture and it seemed like I was able to get some different effects a little easier then Winsor. Did anyone else notice that? Anyway...great review! I really enjoyed it. Glad I found your channel. :)

Great review, i have bought semi expensive paints in the past and been reasonably underwhelmed with them, despite the hype of others....we are all unique i guess and like certain things, looking forward to the next one and thank you 🥰

It's as Lindsay the frugal crafter would say: different strokes for different folks. They look nice but I like to layer a lot so that's why I'm not so interested in trying them- even though they look so pretty 😩

I too bought these paints plus another small box of them. I was not very successful with them. I think some paints just "get along" better with me than others probably because I don’t have enough experience with the nuances of watercolors.

I've never tried the Maimeri Blu paints, but I've seen other reviews, especially from Oto Kano, where the bubbles issue was a constant thing across multiple pigments. Kinda turned me off from trying them, tbh. If I want textured effects (besides granulation) from my pains, I'll do them myself. I don't need my paints leaving measles scars on my landscapes. 😅

I ordered the same set and a tube (yellow) also leaked on arrival. Not my favorite at this point,

maybe the soapiness comes from glycerine. it's commonly used in both to make the liquid for soapy bubbles and in watercolour. it's also used in pour painting (I think) as an additive in acrylic paint to create a bubbly effect.

I find they dry gummy in the palette. I was underwhelmed. Maybe i would like them better straight from the tube. I love jenna Raineys work but this setvwas disappointing
