It was never normal back in the day, there were people picketing about Em and Congress was in his business. Whenever you youngin say “back then you could say anything”, no you soo couldn’t. He just DID! The radio wouldn’t play him half the time, he just didn’t give a F. Listen to other people from back then. Nobody else got away with any of this or tried. He made his own lane and ran over anyone in the way lol

Back when this album came out there was huge backlash from LGBTQ Community. They would burn his CDs. At the grammys this won best rap album and there were people outside protesting against it. Yea Em said anything and everything but it wasnt like it was ignored. That was the main reason people bought it cuz they wanted to know why people were so outraged by it.

Right, THAT'S the main reason 220 million albums were sold, resulting in 3 diamond albums, 3 diamond singles (1 album and multiple singles currently at 9x platinum)... Every album debuted at #1 on the billboard charts, one of which was up on the top 100 for multiple years straight... Most albums sold during 1st week of any artist. You'd think people would get the idea after that one album, guess it took all the albums after just to make sure... Infact, we're still making sure 🤣 That was honestly the dumbest reasoning to explain Eminem's success as an artist..

This little girl was born broke af in a trailer park like he was and he did his shit & provided above and beyond for his little girl. She’s so classy & sweet seeming (idk but seems like it) and I fucking love that she named her podcast “just a little shady”. 🤌🏻

This was my generation and it was amazing. Concerts were so fun. Waiting for music to come out on cd was so exciting. We couldnt just download stuff back then without blowing up your computer. Freedom of expression started so many musical legends. From Tupac, Biggie, Eminem and even the likes of bands like Korn, Slipknot, and Blink 182. Such great times. Who knows, maybe I'm just old lol

NWA, 2 Live Crew, etc, came before and were also censored. Luther Campbell (2 Live) fought all the way to the Supreme Court and won his censorship case. NWA risked arrest to perform songs they were told they couldn’t. Activists and politicians went after Eminem even harder because of his influence on the white suburbs. When people told each of them they couldn’t do something they just doubled down. This entire album is basically a big middle finger to all the critics and controversy. Anything they said he couldn’t say he just said more of and even worse. Gen X be like that though.

Bizarre is the worst rapper of all time (pit bull abortion verse). I said it before but my buddies and I have always quoted his verses pretending we are killing it. He's a meme to us. Your reaction to both of his verses on this album made me laugh. It was the same reaction I've had for 20 years every time I hear him. Also, what Em said wasn't normal, he was protested and talked about in Congress and attacked from every direction. Also the Versace "checking the mail" was about Gianni Versace who was the founder of the fashion company and was shot and killed in front of his house, assumed he was checking the mail.

In terms of track order, I feel like Under the Influence should have been placed before Kim cause how extreme the tone shift is. Kim should have been placed right before Criminal instead, put the most intense song right before the song where he admits the whole album is a troll.

It's strange seeing people say that they had versions of this album with songs missing and replaced. In the UK, in the original version we had all the songs AND The Kids as a bonus track when it was first released. The Kids didn't replace anything, it was always there (and is one of my faves 🙂)

SSLP and this one are far and away his best albums by far and it's not even close imo.. He had some other good stuff no doubt but from front to back, keeping my full attention the entire time these two albums are it for me.
