Dex, hope you don't mind me asking. I'm wondering if you might have a hydraulic cooling fan for an 01 grand cherokee, sitting in your yard somewhere? My Out-Law's Jeep finally needs a replacement, and he hasn't had much luck finding one. Figured you'd be the guy to ask.

Dex, you are fixing stuff the way us "shadetree" mechanics would work on our own vehicles. Professionals don't take transmissions apart to fix them anymore. They get a rebuilt transmission from a supplier and swap it out. So, if what you are doing is the definition if a"hack job". Then I am one too.

Don’t worry about what people criticize you and how you work, you are very intelligent nobody knows everything about everything. I’ve done transmission work, automatic transmission work myself very complicated depend on which transmission you’re working on which variety we all come into this world knowing nothing your way ahead most people, financially and bars of Mechanic quite quite interesting what you built and not owe anything I’ve seen businesses in dollars and they have gone broke 73 years old and worked at General Motors making the nova back in the 70s. You could get everything from a four-cylinder to 396 and those Chevy muscle car was a Chevy. I had a 64 Chevrolet 63 my brother had a 57,58 that had a 60 . I i’ve had different trucks brand brand new ones and used ones. I like the old Chevy Chevy trucks 2000 2004 head brand new ones I now have a ridgeline 24 they all V6 I think it has a VCM on it, which shuts down the cylinders when you’re notin all six but I don’t think it’s good for the motor my opinion at where is it out quicker you’re not saving that much on gas either so I’ll probably put that kid on there and bypass all that anyway enjoy your videos. I think you take it for granted people no certain things what you’re doing you could explain it a little better I think for the newbies.

@justdexit I bought my ZJ in 2020, and it came factory equipped with the NP231, and I was wondering if you have any other ZJs ( or have ever seen any ) with the NP231 Command Trac? Mine is a 95 model, and I've read that they were an option, but I've not been able to find another person who has actually seen on in a ZJ. My ZJ came factory equipped with some strange components and the family that I bought it from ( I'm the 2nd owner ) told me that they bought it new in 1998 after Chrysler/Jeep used it as a production test vehicle. It's quite interesting to me and I'm curious about what you think if you ever get a minute to think it over. I don't ever want to sell it but it's a cool piece of Jeep history i think.

Hey Dex on a 46RH since it’s controlled by pressure rather than solenoids. What do you think would cause no acceleration in Reverse? On top of this in D it won’t go over 35 and it’s been slipping bad to where it loses power and you go to push on the gas again and it won’t go until it “grabs the gear”. Love your videos and I love jeeps! Have a good one brother!

Lockup is prominent probably due to valve body pressures being all shot. Essentially the OD is never "off" You can get a firmer lockup by using the transgo shiftkit JR. Its cheap, easy to do, and makes a big difference.

@@blakek2619 yea my mom bought it when it has 22k miles in 2000.. and been driving it ever since.. at 80k the thing stopped shifting.. stuck in 1st.. fluid was black.. had it flushed. And when i got my first car a 98 5.9 limited ZJ. I started working on her Jeep and mine.. and ive been doing fluid changes every 30-40k on it. At 400k i did the 3/4 acumulator spring which was busted, and the shift solenoids and pressure sensor.. and it shifts great after that. Now for about 100k miles now its been hanging in 2nd gear when cold. And you gatta left off the gas to get it to shift.. but once it does that once.. its fine the rest of the day. Aince its been doing that so long.. i didnt bother to mess with it. Aint broke dont fix it. Fluid change about 70k miles ago it had broken snap rings. Probly the overdrive. My 46re has 230k and it shift ok too. But had 3 snap rings two were diff broken in the pan. But the laat id say 10k miles its developed a whine in 1st 2nd 3rd gear.. tjat goes away In overdrive. So im not sure what that is. But its deff something from 1st-3rd oddky that is still there when rolling in neutral and with the engine off.. i know my 249 transfercase the chain jas major slack it itll pop if you shift into gear and step on the gas without giving it a few seconds to take up slack. So im wondering is it the tranny or transfercase. Im not sure i gatta jack all 4 wheels in the air and have someone run it while i listen to the bellhousing and transfercase I dont drive the 5.9 ZJ as much though. As i have a 90 Grand Wagoneer. And a 76 Jeep J10. So i tend to rotate driving em. I keep the 5.9 limited on a trickpe charger and only drive it if i gatta go beyond 30+ miles one way due to it getting better gas mileage over the wagoneer and J10. My moms 4.9 the only thing besides religious maintenance. That ive done was the timing chain at 220k. Water pump once. Radiator three times.. alternator and power steering pump 3 times.. and cv axles in the front. And just rrgular wear items. But its steering needs work. It wanders a lot so you drive like youre watching a cheesy sitcom having to correct steering.
