Nice stand. I made one for my VR headset using a plastic mannequin head that i filled with concrete to add some weight and mounted to a wooden base. Looks pretty awesome and cost me next to nothing. PS. The real issue with the PSVR2 is that it's tethered. Once you try a headset without an umbilical cord, you'll never use anything else anymore. It's on another level of freedom and immersion.

I LOVE this form of a video! Normally I watch for entertainment + learning new things (not for a specific project necessarily), but the iterations - prototype workflow kind of the video gave me lots of inspiration for future projects, way of thinking and so on 😁 And not to mention the end result looks great! I don't think most people realise that you guys go through this planning, designing, prototyping, and production process for basically every video. You essentially launch a new product every week or so while most companies don't do that. Thanks for showing your process. The final design looks great. I loved the black and white colour scheme of the holder. It matches the console nicely.

I still remember many podcasts back, when Jimmy mentioned that the first thing his students did was try to 3D print a prototype but they could’ve easily used ready made things like plastic bottles or make simple shapes with styrene. Adam Savage also talked about building a small room with cardboard. Even software/web design is somewhat quicker with an initial sketch. Low cost and low risk ways of trying out concepts never gets old!

I think the only thing to make this better would be adding a little pocket or something for the cable rather than it sitting on top. That's really the only thing that bothers me on mine when I store it. I like that you put the inset for the charger base so it doesn't move around. Really cool and simple!

Very slick, sir. A stand by, and for, the consumer / user. It may not be for everyone, but it is a very well thought out product. An 'improvement' I might consider would be melamine surfaced, with either a black or white edge banding for the base. I like the 3D printed front and rear bracket, but as an option, the front bracket in the melamine and rear bracket in the MDF for those without a 3D printer.

Great video! Since you used MDF, I would recommend rounding the corners of the back piece just a little more because it will lessen the chance of the corner getting dinged and it will match the other rounded areas on the piece. The 3D printed parts were very cool!

You shouldn't keep your PS5 in closed space. The console needs some fresh air.

Yeah. It gets air when it needs it, not run with doors closed. Ventilation is planned but it's doing ok.

If I made this for DIY plans, I would probably add a 3d-printed lip for the charging base instead of routing a pocket for it. You could cut out the other wooden bits with a bandsaw, jigsaw or a even a fretsaw if you wanted to go with hand tools, but you need a router for the pocket.

The title makes it sound like there's a problem with the PSVR2 itself and not that you just wanted a better method of storage. It didn't become clear what the "problem" was until a couple minutes into the video. It's a cool video making a great stand for the PSVR2, I just think the title was misleading.

Really enjoyed this video, while I may not have the tools you have it gave some insight as to how you go about something from start to finish. I think something like this with a Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced level final products and production would be a great video. Then you are hitting all skill levels and price points of those interested in doing something similar.

Also with graph paper, it helps really well to try and get a good sense of scale, depending on what you’re sketching out. i.e one square is so-and-so inches in real life

Well thought out video & product. Makes me happy with the machines I get to use at work. With a 450w CO2 laser, I have the advantage of cutting thicker materials. 3/4" plywood & acrylic, for example.

I got excited when I saw this video , I thought someone finally has a fix for the right (or left) controller not responding in games without a hard reset to the controller. I sent my controller back to sony and I still have no update on what's going on. I had the PSVR2 since launch day and haven't been able to play anything without resetting the controller , and now that sony has my controller I really can't play anything .

That sucks, man. FYI though there are some PSVR 2 games that can be played with the Dualsense controller instead of the VR controllers. Off the top of my head, I'm pretty sure Gran Turismo 7, Thumper, Rez Infinite, Tetris Effect Connected, and I think Awesome Asteroids can be played with the Dualsense. Also I'm pretty sure Pistol Whip can be played with one controller, you just can't enable dual-wielding iirc. Hope this helps if you're looking for something to play in the headset while you wait for Sony to repair your controller. And beyond that, it's not a bad idea to have some Dualsense games so you could still play something even if your VR controllers run out of batteries.

The cradle for your controller costs more than other available solutions that also hold the headset. Many options existed right from launch day.

Awesome video! One thing I would suggest to change is the back panel, or mounting panel. I would definitely reshape the corners, round them off in some way. The whole thing, including psvr2 is so curvy that those corners stick out like a sore thumb. Otherwise awesome!

I bet the console gets hotter inside that cabinet lol. Need to cut a hole in the back of it so the hot air isn't being pulled back into the front again cause it needs cooler air circulation. My PS5 sits in the open and it's like a heater blowing out the back so being in a cabinet would be like putting your PS5 in front of a heater which isn't good.

did it work okay with the fact the headset strap is adjustable? i'd imagine if you take it off by extending it all the way it wont fit properly...

Usually when you extend it fully to take it off you don't leave it fully extended. Once you extend the strap, it only locks in place when you turn the dial, which most people only do to tighten it onto their head.
