Жыл бұрынCK3 has many hidden formable natiuons. One of my favourite CK3 kingdoms that can be formed via decision is the sultanate of rum - also known for EU4 fame. With this you need to conquer the CK3 Byzantine Empire and take the place - basically forming the Roman Empire yourself. Only this time, I need to survive the CK3 crusades and attempt to stave off the Seljuks - let's see if this is a successful CK3 challenge or not!

Bruh… the count of Samosata (literally right next to where Laiths character started at) has an achievement for forming the Sultunate of Rum and starts with special soldiers. Descendants of that guy were the ones who actually founded the sultanate.

This is the second crusader kings video I've watched where a KZfaqr created a historical title without the actual dynasty that founded it. Except this is somehow worse because Laith started right next to the count of Samosata.

For forming Rum I think Suleyman Qutalmishoglu would be a nicer character, because of the Turkish eagle achievement (thank you for the constancy of videos Laith, take care of your health)

Challenge idea: Can you play as House of Flanders (in the Netherlands), crusade for Byzantium and form the Latin Empire? Not sure if it's a thing in CK3 yet, but would make for a good challenge run.

Also, if you havent done Outremer yet, it's a great campaign. I recently did it in the 1066 start and started as the emperor the HRE to ensure I had the numbers to get myself the kingdom. The Outremer decision also creates a mashriqi hybrid culture with whatever your characters culture is. But you dont get to pick anything about it so the one I got kinda sucked. I'd love to see you play it and just ramble about the historical crusades :D

Rum is something I honestly never bothered to form, by the time I am strong enough to take on the Byzantines I would already have at least a kingdom level title so forming a kingdom while already a king is a bit redundant unless you're going for an Empire but even then by the time you'd be able to form Rum you'd already be an Emperor.

Really, you need to force yourself to stay as a duke for the full flavour. I kinda wish it had a splitting mechanic, where you could form it early without de jure'ing all the required provinces as a vassal Duke, sort of like the Danelaw decision -but not really.- Also doesn't really help that it encompasses the de jure Kingdom of Anatolia and Pontus that you could form instead. One more thing, if they wanted to make you stay as a Duke they shouldn't have made Egypt so -submissive and- conquerable.

I think at 17:08 you’re talking about the siege of Antioch not Damascus in 1098. The guy you mention Zengi was a Turkish atabeg who conquered Edessa and directly sparked the Second Crusade. He never controlled Damascus, it was only his more powerful son Nur ad-Din who took it.

Spot on there. It was the Siege of Antioch, and you would be correct about Zengi. As for who the general outside Antioch was, I believe it was Kerbogha who led the second siege and subsequently lost. Iirc, he was playing Chess at the time of the Crusader charge out of the city

Another cool fact about damascus in the crusades: The city of damascus was more or less friends with the crusader kingdoms but during the second crusade the army of european christians decided to siege it again, against the advice of the local crusader states, destroying relations and driving them ro saladins side, whom they didn't really like either before that

The peoples crusade (kind of a "pre" crusade of poor serfs and minor nobles who couldnt wait to start), was such a fucked up story. Started in France , went over to Germany where they started to murder Jews, after they heard that some of them where gifting money to the crusade and wanted more, to a point were even the bishops tried to protect them. Went to Hungary. Murdered a whole city because someone was unhappy with a shoe he bought (no really), went to Constaninople, where they also were marauding around, crossed over to Anatolia, only to be slaughtered by the Turks, the first enemy that fought back. The main guy then went back to preach and get more poor people.....

That East Roman princess is Anna Komnenoes. She's the go to for source material on the first crusade because her account is written of her Ronan emperor father's reign.

It is day 64 of asking you to do Croatia challenge in VIC3 (Become free from the rule of austria - then you cannot ally them, russians, serbians, ottomans and montenegro, you also cannot trade with them (embargo them and rival them). First form Yugoslavia restore old borders from that country then form Danubian state, all while staying monarchy thats the set of rules you must follow.
