@@shaynesabalaI liked the idea the guy had about preloading a cut list over a Bluetooth app What I want to know is how good the fence travels on its own after a few cuts with all manner of saw dust all over the table. Kid says it’ll work fine but I want a pretty-bad case scenario demonstration, especially if we’re talking about a preloaded cut list and some automation

I'm glad Rip-it Fence actually listened. I emailed them a while back asking if they could make their touch screen dark mode (this model had a white screen a few months ago) as I personally have extreme difficulty reading white screens. I'm legally blind so that's the reason why. Using a table saw fence is an absolute nightmare. I'm still relatively new in woodworking and have many decades ahead of me to refine my abilities and I hope to one day get my hands on one of them. At a bit over $1500 msrp, it's something out of my price range currently but I'm glad to know that it'll work for me when I do eventually get one. Oh, Rip-It, if you read this comment, can you please add a method to attach the Jessem Stock Guides to your fence? I did email you guys about that and i was informed that the top of the fence is aluminum. Thus, you can't use the mag-switch method of attaching them which is my prefered method as it makes quick removal for jigs much easier if necessary. Plus, many aren't comfortable drilling holes into their fence.

I have been wanting to build a fence like that for myself... Pretty sure I don't want to pay for that one. It will cost more than my saw. It needs a few things though for manual use. It needs physical buttons for commonly performed actions. Nudge the cut a little deeper or less so by .005 per press. Buttons to cut dados. One that moves the right distance to make the second cut at the board width, and then incremental cuts through the center by a blade width. A button for metric/inch toggle.

I'd like to know how sensitive the auto-fence is. With my T-fence I can just gently tap to sneak up, and we are talking two hair-lengths at a time, so how sensitive is that fence? Can it move 1/128 or 1/256? I'll have to check out there page. If I can't micro adjust, then it seems like a professional, cabinet shop kind of tool only. That's fine, and it would work well in mass production/industrial level stuff, where you are just needing nice, clean numbers, but for fine woodworking you have to have that "light tap" level of adjustment. Looks like it is $1,300. That is definitely pro-cabinet shop level pricing. Oh well. It still looks super cool.

CNC saw fences are neat. There's posts on cnczone from as far back as 2006 describing them. So not a very original invention. Here they're using a Raspberry Pi 3B+ ($72) and a Waveshare 5.5inch Capacitive Touch AMOLED Display ($115) plus a stepper driver and stepper, so about $200 in electronics. You could diy one for half that picking some cheaper electronics. So you could do a lot with that extra $1000 since it's a $1200 fence.

I've been a bit surprised that with CNC tech becoming more widely available that we haven't seen something like the Rip-It fence show up before. I suspect the answer is that the incremental benefit over a well-tuned conventional fence is actually somewhat minimal. Dialing in a fence to provide acceptable accuracy doesn't really seem to be a barrier. And, if exact reproducibility is needed there's always the Incra. Where I do think CNC tech is interesting is in router tables. Shark has a CNC controlled router table that has interactive wizards to guide you through multi-step operations like box joints and dovetails which IMHO is much more of a value-add than a table saw fence.

Now what I'm REALLY jealous of from the industrial saws is the computerized height adjustment. It's pretty easy to nail fence position with a DRO or an incra setup, but installing a DRO on the height adjustment in most table saws is a lot trickier

@@arcrin100 oh god I would kill to be able to just hit a "zero" button and not have to do the song and dance moving my square back and forth between the two sides of the blade, scrutinizing whether I'm imagining that light between the blade and the square, if I'm on a tooth, if I've got the square flat against the cast iron

The joinery system would be great if I was manufacturing a lot of stuff just to big and pricy for an average wood worker. The Rip-It Fence looks promising and I would love to have one, with my old eyes it sometimes takes me a while to set up a fence. The Invis joiners I like but at $7.00 a joiner would just make my projects to expensive to sell. After 30+ years of cutting crown the old fashion way the molding jig might slow me down.

I would be interested to know if RZ tested the fit factor on men with facial hair at all and how it scored if they did
