Hey Dave : not a good idea to have food in the car when there are bears around . They might come to your vehicle in the middle of the night . There sense of smell is amazing .

When I was getting out of the Marines, my best friend and I decided to drive from San Diego to Alaska because we were gonna go to school there and use our GI bill. Was an experience of a lifetime. I’ll never forget finally crossing the border into Alaska and there was a little store right at the border that had candy bars inside of a glass case. Me and my buddy thought it was the funniest shit ever.

Have you seen signs anywhere saying no camping or no overnight parking? I live in a van in New Zealand and its becoming more of a problem. It seems like the US and Canada its kinda just park where you want at your own risk

The black bears arnt as much of a threat. That brown grizzly bear is a serious top of the food chain bear. Something we’re taught in Canada is: If its black fight back (they will usually back off) If its brown lay down (play dead and protect your head and neck, it will decide if it has done enough damage to consider you not a threat anymore which may be that your dead. Or if its hungry it will just eat you alive). And if its white say goodnight (You are dead it will 100% eat you) In Churchill Manitoba in my home province it is illegal to lock your car doors. Polar bear capital of the world and if someone needs to escape a polar bear they need to be able to get into a car. But you better hope it didnt see you get in that car

There are definitely questions that are reasonable to answer to any 'authority.' However, there are also questions that are unreasonable and simply shouldn't be answered. Particularly, in the US, a cop pulls you over and you do not have to answer their questions unless you're being arrested, but they have to answer yours.
