WorldS* you mean ~ Also think it could be cooler if that man wasn't as creepy, didn't lunge at him and was left unexplored... Could make for a nice follow-up story of him being some wise sorcerer that hunts these door demons or whatever it was... And he met him at his house, and eventually he'd come out on his own for that thing... Also that creature didn't sound too menacing even for a couple of armed men, not apocalypse level for sure!

I have a feeling that there is more to this story than Rehnwriter revealed in the story. You have to extrapolate and read between the lines at the end. ***SPOILER ALERT*** You see, I believe Rehnwriter gave us a hint at the end of the story when Stephen tells that it was going to different parts of the city. I believe it is looking for the key man. It's hunting him down. After all, it had waited and waited and waited for him and when he came back to the same room by way of the key, it was ELATED and then made sure it broke through and got into his world so it could have him for whatever reason. Sure, it's getting other people, but I believe that when it sees someone who looks even kinda similar to the key man, it goes after them. It will keep hunting him down until it finds him. It kills ALL witnesses but sooner or later someone will see and hear it from a distance while it is dispatching someone and that witness or group of witnesses will be able to tell the press what they saw and heard. Then it will know it is outed and will go on an allout hunt for the key man and he will finally suffer the full consequences of his greed. So, you see, I know I extrapolated a lot onto the end there, but that seeming hint at the end sure sent my imagination on a wild ride. Wow, what an incredible movie this could be. 😃

This story reminds me of another called Locke & Key, specifically the key the MC uses here is quite similar to the Anywhere Key. Saw the Netflix adaptation some months ago and wanted more, there were two pilots made before the Netflix version, and all were based on the comic book. I've got to get back to that.

Rules to live by 1. Never take anything that doesn't belong to you, even it it _appears_ to be free for the taking. If it's an artificial object in particular, chances are high that either belongs to someone already or was put there for a reason. 2. Avoid liminal spaces unless you have a guide you can reasonably trust and a _very_ good reason to be there. 3. *Absolutely **_NEVER_* eat anything in a liminal spacd or take anything you find there out if/when you leave. Even if it isn't a trap or ploy by something malevolent, chances are still high it will leave a "scent trail" that attracts attention from things you don't want knowing about you, or worse, following you out of that space.

It would be the absolute ULTIMATE urban exploration tool. You could go urban exploring ANYWHERE that has a door with a key lock. Reminds me of Monsters, Inc. where they had those countless doors that moved from place to place and that is how the monsters accessed children's rooms. I've ALWAYS wanted to be able to go to REALLY OLD castles in Scotland and all of the UK and be able to step back in time while at their ruins and then tour them when they are new while I am back in time centuries before I visited the ruins. Might be hard to explain to the people whom I encounter at that time just who I am and where/when I came from. I'd have to be VERY careful or end up with my head lopped off. LOL But being able to see those old castles when they were new would be the ultimate urban exploration. 😃

This was a good story. I suspect that more of the doors he had entered was actually connected to the creatures room besides the 2 doors in which he sees the creature. The basement door connected to his bedroom and the dungeon door full of blood was probably other rooms of the creatures home. The seller obviously knew the key being sold had the power to do this based on what she said about the key being special, but I suspect all the keys lead to the same locations and she was working with/ for the creature. Why sell the keys for so cheap when you could use one to get rich quick, unless of course money isn’t what she wanted. If this is the case perhaps the voices you hear in the dungeon was other people who bought and used the keys. However the creature never left through the doors before now because it was busy grafting human body’s onto itself and learning how to be more human. It would explain why the creature tried to entice the MC to come into the room during the first meeting too, as it just needed to learn more about humans at the time. Perhaps even the “treasure” room where also connect to the same location. But all where setup to entice people who entered those rooms to explore more rooms and eventually come across the creature. It was also stated at the end “I don’t know how the creature stays hidden”. It probably took the key from the MC or if perhaps another key and just retreated back into its home and only comes out to hunt/ bring people back to its dungeon. Also I suspect this story was heavily inspired by the move coralline. Both the story and movie had: a key which opened doors to another dimension, something to entice the MC to keep coming back and a creature with black eyes attempting to appear friendly.

I used to collect old skeleton keys. From living in some very old houses and apartments. Some with those glass doorknobs and more often than not the key was in the lock. So I'd just add them to my collection. I was a weird kid
@CivilEngineerWroxton
@CivilEngineerWroxton Жыл бұрын
When I was a kid in the late 1960's and through the 1970's, my family and I lived in a house that had been originally built in 1912. It had been added on to twice so there were VERY strange little seemingly secret spaces up in the roof and attic and underneath the very back of the house. My sister and I would squeeze our way into these spaces and then get scared immediately and leave. But finally one day we got into one space where just the top half of a VERY old door was exposed. The doorknob was there and had an old skeleton key in the keyhole above the doorknob. We got to looking around and there were skeleton keys lying all around on the old dusty floor of that space. Why all those keys were there, we have no idea. We gathered them all up and put them in an old cigar box and I still have some of them. Before my sister passed away from complications of Crohn's Disease she said to me, "I guess we'll never know what those keys were for, huh?" and she laughed a weak laugh. That was in 2013 so that was about 45 years after we had found those keys. So this story really struck me. Old keys have ALWAYS been so mysterious and strangely creepy to me I guess because of the keys my late sister and I found. 😞
