I think it's this way for a lot of horror fanatics. Originally, it's the creepiness or scariness that brings you in but after awhile you become desensitized to it. You don't get the feeling of being watched or the hair raising. Yet you continue to come back for the atmosphere and tension. Atleast it was this way for me, as I got into it when I was a young kid that still believed in Santa and monsters, lol. I personally love stories like this. I wish they would still give me the creeps, tbh, but I still love the vibe. I have to go to extremes to be scared now *sighs.* Like exploring the woods without a light after midnight. Which sucks because being scared is truly being alive. There's nothing like a fear induced adrenaline rush. It's the most basic and most important survival mechanism that really let's you know you're alive. Side note, wtf does a star sign have to do with anything? Lmao.

@@DeathEyedGrin No, I hate Santa. But yeah, I did ease up into this horror when I was a little kid too. I guess it's like an outlit for me. Really inventive, but it’s hard to feel bad for a protagonist that found a basement full of abused mental patients and his response was to move in and get cozy. You know, instead of calling the authorities. One of the patients was starving to death- like...bro. Edit: because I keep getting people sending me “they were ghosts” over a YEAR after I made this comment- stop. The story left it ambiguous as to whether they were ‘living’ results of scientific experimentation or ghosts. More importantly the protagonist doesn’t immediately think they’re ghosts. And either way it’s insane to move in and get cozy. Stop @ me.

@@bradpollard444 A lot of those disorders weren’t defined until well into the mid 1900s and later. It would have been common back then to label people as crazy without a diagnosis. Some genuinely had no issues. A poor person could be institutionalized for stealing or a physically handicapped person just because no one else wanted to care for them. Unfortunately, the author wasn’t wrong to have many of the 1800s cases without a diagnosis.

Obviously still the little details per usual, but I've gone back over your catalogue and if the top of my head, I'm only remembering stories done else where on your channel less than 5 times. Now it's not an exact science, but you deserve lots of credit for story selection. It would be one thing if you uploaded every couple days of the week but for a long time it's been nightly and the stories are really good and original. You've never had to my knowledge, a little of similar uploads. The stories are extremely varied and they're on point. With a daily upload over time you'd expect some dip in viable content. That however, to my recollection, hasn't happened even once. Even though i haven't heard a list ready out of a phone book.....i can really only think of maybe 2-3 narrators in all the land, that i make it a point to keep checking if the new story is posted. This one, to me didnt come dull circle and lost its way several times. So many places to go with things, but fell flat several times. Including the last line. Like it was some fascinating revelation....

That... is not how lobotomies are done. It's a pick like object placed at the corner of the eye and rammed in. Then it is moved around to "scramble" the frontal lobe. It leaves a pretty bad black eye but the eye itself is undamaged.

One thing that a lot of these stories do is to just pile on more and more elements as if they're hoping something will stick, or they're trying to overwhelm you and make you not notice the lack of coherence. I often get the feeling the author didn't have the plot laid out before they started writing and they're just rambling. This is one of those stories.

I'm definitely late to the party with your videos, I seem to have discovered every other creepypasta narrator on youtube before getting to the real deal! You can tell that you take the time to assess scene setting, how the characters are described, how dialogue plays out and adjust your tone and voices to suit. I've been listening to so much lacklustre monotone burger king foot lettuce narration and your channel is such a blessing 😭🙏

Here’s a creepy old mental hospital full of angry vengeful ghosts. I think I’ll move into the basement and see how this goes. On the other hand, dreams can be like that. They never make much sense except symbolically. Honestly, this narrator could make a shopping list sound spooky. He is always worth a listen, but this story had some plot holes you could drive a mental hospital ambulance through.

Right up to the end, I was wondering if Max was having a psychotic break. Most of the weirdness can be explained. Not able to recognize faces? Check. Not able to hear properly? Check. Hallucinations, anxiety, talking to himself? It all checks out, these are real medical conditions. I'm not sure that anybody would suffer all of them at the same time, but still, that's a really nice detail from the author.

Goddamn this was a wild ride… I like to believe the ending is the protagonist’s mind finally breaking free, maybe having died and gotten stuck in purgatory? I’m not really sure, but I figure a take like that might’ve been what the author was going for
