Warning: The hydroponic gardens can be built anywhere, but use quite a lot of water. Obviously you've got plenty stored with your megadam, but it's worth being aware of for the future.

At times in the video the water storage by the log pump was full. This means that the log pumpers would’ve been travelling all the way to the other water storage

You can put platforms over water. You can put buildings on platforms that are over water. Only a very few buildings actually require that you put them on solid land.

By detonating the explosives at 30:00 it could be that beavers can't reach the other blast sites, so you might need a stair in the future

The second engine has a rotated placement issue, same as the first one. The Food Factories only transmit power through the flat faces, so don't transmit through the corners so you will need to rework that new food processing area for one of the fermenters. You may want to check your storage to make sure that where you want product to end up is set to obtain and the storage close to the source is set to supply. (eg water tanks near the housing is set to Obtain and the water tanks near the water pumps is set to supply) but for all your production chains.

To add to that, for peak efficiency you should have small storages of whatever a building consumes (ex: for canola oil and mushrooms) set to "obtain" and a small storage of whatever the building produces (ex:fermented mushrooms) set to "supply", all of which should be as close as possible (directly outside the door is ideal) and prioritized by haulers. Then have a large storage area for everything elsewhere that is that is also prioritized by haulers. With a bunch of small storages of each food and water near where they sleep/play/work to increase the amount of time they have for each, instead of running across half the map every time they need to eat/drink. That way there is a buffer that will help smooth out any surges in demand for the haulers (or a reduction in # of haulers).

I like to build my platforms and path over my irrigation. That way it shares the space. Nice content. Keep it up. You can run power under the platforms, submerged also.

Water under paths with power, and then you have a tile where it popps up on the side to supply a building. I "hide" the power coming up with decorative items and the beavers working and walking nearby get the boost! 🦫 🦫

Hey Biffa, When cutting canals with TNT I like to build paths on top of the using platforms. It gives you one more strip of planting space.

The real point of the metal platforms is to build over unstackable buildings. The work to get the metal is about the same as just making wooden platforms in the water.

It might be good to move all of your water pumps/big water tanks to the dam area and have small water tanks prioritized by haulers sprinkled around your colony. It might also be good to tighten up your paths so that your beavers have shorter routes to/from their workplaces.

A waterwheel in the badwater next to the explosives factory with some cheap levees to force the badwater through a narrow flow would definitely generate enough power and free up the two beavers in the power wheel.

You could build a bridge over to the other plateau (behind the new industrial area) and put all your industry there, since it doesn't look like you'll be able to easily irrigate that.

The rest of the dynamite is out of range for builders. Select a district centre or builders hut to get an outline of the extent of the builder's range. Dynamite the area where the new food factories are to be level with the rest of the industrial area and power transmission can be building to building with 2 engines (unless you want to build on platforms over water and keep the original terrain). You need more haulers, there's too much work for 3 (probably why the tank near the pumps is so full) and they're probably otherwise employed by now so monitor the haulers hut when deciding to start another breeding pod.

The city planner is thinking of putting a heavy industrial area right above town drinking water. The industrial waste will give the water some extra flavor.

Biffa! Love the videos! Few tips. 1 you can just stack buildings with the ladder mod because you can stack them as well. Just remember not to block the entry with the ladder part of the block. 2 your beavers can't access places for farms because they need paths to reach. This is the same for destroying plants trees or whatever

Im screaming to myself, hoping biffa hears me 😂. Use platforms on top of the river and paths for decoration, please biffa. Also, benches are pure decoration doesnt provide any bonuses. One decoration along the path isn't enough to increase welbeing its more efficient to put decoration near the workplace or dwellings.

About making your lake deeper: afaik, there is no need to make the lake deeper than the max depth of the pumps you're using. About your farmer: You can put them in the middle of an area that you want them to plant. Then they'll plant on both sides. One of the fastest/cheapest ways to get an increase in happiness is to use artifacts like statues and the like. Especially the monuments.

Some tips - You can put TNT below the water pumps to dig them out without having to replace the building! If you want to extend the reach of that lower corn farmer, rotate the building to see how the range changes, and you can add a platform over the irrigation canal to extend the other ones' range too, you don't need a path on it. Also, your new food industry area, the engine is again not facing the right way for a path connection. And your water is dangerously low...

Hi Biffa. Love your content. You can reach more available workable area for industries by building a bridge to the plateau adjacent to your main district. It has a decent amount of available area and the distance to your centre is short. To be more specific, if you would consider that the door of your district hall points south, your bridge would be to the east plateau.

3:20 As far as I can tell, the Farmhouse, Forestry, and all the different 'flags' (scavenger, harvester etc) are unaffected by the placement of paths (except for the path that leads directly to the building). The only thing that can affect the range seems to be stairs, as it allows them to access different 'levels' of terrain. (Builders' huts ARE affected by the placement of paths, but they're the exception)

Something that's good to do when you build you first haulers is to set it to maximum priority but have a small number of them. When you end up getting to the other side and have excess beavers with no jobs, build additional haulers but set them to lowest priority. This ensures that you will always have a minimum number of haulers from the maximum priority building and will then use all excess workers as haulers from the minimum priority buildings. Not having any haulers can have a disproportionately large impact, especially when you set up your settlement so where things are produced is a long way from where they are stored and consumed (eg your pumpers on the dam and your food). You need to ensure stores next you your producers are set to export if you have a main storage somewhere else.

Irrigation is based on volume. A one block wide channel is great for moving water, but a small pond (2x2 or better 3x3) will irrigate much more land. So add a pond at regular intervals along your channel. Same with water dump, make it a 3x3 pond instead of 1x1.

When you reach a Happiness of 20, you unlock the secret Startails faction, who build their community in space. Gathering logs is a real challenge for them.

If memory serves, when it comes to food, they will eat the more ‘nutritious’ foods first. So if you always have food other than berries, they’ll never eat the berries so you only need enough for the pods. Also, the bench itself doesn’t give a bonus. The idea is to make them spend more time in the “Area of Effect” for the items that do. Think making them sit next to a shrub. More time in the AOE increases the bar. It’s like filling a gas tank; takes time to fill the bars.

I almost exclusively use a battery between my engines and my industry, it smooths out the power delivery and prevents wasted logs.

One thing you should know is you should put all your food and water storage next to your housing because at the end of the work day they will go to a food source and a water source then do end of day things then go to bed but they will only eat and drink after work hours and not before and not during unless it would kill them not to. This will give them the shortest travel time to get to bed. You shouldn't have your food and water spread out because they might not get enough rest at night because it took them too long to get food and water which can then lead to them not working.

You should build a bridge to the other plateau and start building your industry area over there: more space and you have a fancy bridge on top. That would make a nice bridge rating greater than 8!

I don't know if you noticed, but around the 22:22 minute mark, the corn crops started drying up. My assumption is the canal isn't deep enough for an 8 day drought.

You should blow two deep down on your lower field and at the center a 3x3 two deep pond to keep your field green, then put double platforms over the water and make it your walkway so you can reclaim the path for more farmland.

The best way to get a lot of wellbeing score is to have a bunched up grouping of 4 houses (preferably stacked 2-3 times for 8-12 houses in one area) and then you build a bunch of 1x1 stuff on their rooves so that each one affects 2 or all 4 at the same time (if even 1 square of a building is covered by the yellow squares around a decoration, then that decoration will grant wellbeing to every beaver inside the building) You can also use the ground next to the houses to build stuff that also affects 2 houses since decorations also affect buildings 1,2,or 3 tiles diagonal to them as well. If you have the 4 corners all come together in a square, then each one can have a different 1x1 piece which affects stuff 1 tile away and all 4 decorations will affect all 4 houses. Other 1x1s may need to be built twice, each affecting 2 houses. It doesn't look pretty, but this lets you get all your beavers living in one area affected by 8-10 different decorations for wellbeing bonuses while not having to build 4+ copies of each decoration, one around each house.

Also if you only have one Food Factory or Fermenter then it is worth changing the recipe every now and then. That way you end up with multiple types of food stockpiled and it will increase happiness.

Someone probably already said this but I think that on that lower level farm you made, you should put the path over the river so that you can use those tiles that are currently the path for a bit of extra farming.

Put more log pumpers on platforms in the megadam. And open the gate at the lower level to tge megadam to the farms, it is at the same level, u dont need those floodgates👍 And btw, you have way to many Kholrabis😅 lot of space you could use for other foods.

As others have mentioned there's a power issue with the placement of the food factories, though I'll also point out that when placing buildings all power-connected buildings are highlighted in a slight blue colour so you can often use that to tell if you are transmitting power correctly (every directly connected industrial building in the same 'power grid' should also go blue). You can see it happening at 24:45 As an unrelated note, the game has a poorly described injury mechanic - every few hours, the game rolls for chance of injuring a beaver working at certain jobs, with severity and chance based on the type of building. Explosives factory gives the highest severity and the highest chance of injury; mines have the same severity but half the chance (but can have 10x the amount of beavers working in them and it can injure multiple beavers at once). IMO It's the main reason to construct bots - they can't be injured.

really great video Biffa! I hope you will read my comment and take not! I've got some tips and tricks for you : the food factories only share power trough the middle of their side, so the third food factory that you built and the fermenter next to it aren't connected. And you again put the entrance of the engine the wrong way. And I think for well being you should ad at least 2 or 3 hydroponic garden for each food. And cassavas! you have none, even if in the video you said you had, you haven't. and for the vacancies , a breeding pod opened up would be a good idea, even with the highest well being.

Sorry this is a bit late, but I've noticed that the new industrial area that you built on the hill top with the three food factories, you built the engine in the middle with the opening facing the wrong way, NOT facing the path. Therefore it will not operate until it is turned correctly.

i've started shifting all my buildings to the water and beavers effectively live in the water now for that wet fur bonus. maximise tree and food land. at 70 beavers, smelting some metal for gravity batteries and then going to spec into robots and fill the rest of the map that way 🤞 ladders would be way helpful, stick with folktails for now.

Wondering what the point is about the floodgates. I mean, the ones covering the big'un at the bottom is obvious, but the other two tiers are covered by dams, which have the same setting as @Biffa's "default" 0.5 height. Personally, I'd suggest just removing those that aren't covering the big dam at the bottom, let the dams cover it all automatically. Bottom-tier farm: why not use platforms over the water for the path, increase the number of tiles to grow foodstuffs? (Costs a bit more resources to build, but it'd yield more food in the long run) Growth Vats: aim for the tier two vats. Grows adult beavers to start working immediately, instead of children that has to grow up before joining the workforce, and they'll live equally long as the tier one vatgrown beavers.

Your power supply for the new food processing area is not turned the right direction, need to rotate it to the path. its facing to the food prosser on the right. Need to build a large weather storage next to hydroponic to make life easier and have plenty of water during droughts or the tides. Also if you set your beavers to harvest first then plant its much more efficient, you can have enough storage for food and water. plent for extra storage for logs now, can't stop the log production. Can't have enough storage for everything.

If you build your ladders facing away from the storage entrance you can stack it straight up indefinitely, with just a single new ladder to gain access. Edit: Due to your TNT ending, you'll have access difficulty for the rest

Where you make the TNT you can and should move your mechanical industry there as there is a lot of space and you can make platforms if you need more space and plus it would allow you to put more happiness things/wellbeing things were the old industry was❤😊

Also behind the three food factorys there is and island with dead trees you could make a suspension bridge and use that island for mass farming by making it all green with water dumps or use it for housing with lots of wellbeing thing's but please make it green it's bothering me because you complain about space but that island is there so make it green and use it for something

No underground piles for IT, that's a FT exclusive building, the IT however can stack their industrial piles as high as the max build height. I typically build a center tower in my colonies for IT, with logs, planks, etc and run power up the side for gravity batteries hanging off the side of them

Why don't you build the pathways on the canal in the "side gardens"? Thatway you'll have more place to grow food, be it just by a single strip. But it's nore efficient

the engine you put in near the three food factories is not connected to a path, it needs to be rotated. Also, that entire section is not connected to paths.

Hello biffa I have a question why you don't build your industry down by the TNT factory and but some small water tanks and something small for food and a medical beds so you have more place for trees or things you only can build on the green places please excuse my English it is not my native language love your videos 🤔🥰
