I also did a huge mistake and gained weight. Before the pandemic I was athlete of long distances (100 pounds 5'5). At the begging of the pandemic I lost the will to work out so I decided to minimize the portions of food that I was eating. I starved my self and as a result I even lost a couple of pounds. When the lockdown ended I started to eat normally because I was working out. I started snack again and eat whatever I want. At some point I noticed that I started to gain weight. By the end of July I had reached 133 pounds. I think that I gained weight because I starved my self and I slowed down my metabolism (basically I possibly putted my metabolism to survival mode because I was eating so little). I managed to lose about 15 pounds and I reached 119 by the end of summer. However, when the second lockdown started I complitelly relaxed, I was eating whatever I wanted and I exercise very little. At the begging of 2021 I had reached 151 pounds at and I was slithery overweight for the first time of my life. I got a little depressed because of the weight. Although I decided to be atleast a little bit more carefull about my diet. I started pretty well but then I was super busy for about a month and I was sitting all day working in front of the computer and eating fastfood because I had no time. So on February I had reached 164 pounds. I managed to lose 8 pounds by just dieting but when Easter came I got super lazy and reached 172. I got super depressed and I was feeling bad for my weight. Binge eating started to be a huge problem. By the begging of June I had reached 193 pounds and I had reached the obese zone. Then something changed inside my mind and decided to make a huge change for my health. I started to feel better by working out like the good old days and I managed to diet. I have lost 6 pounds by then I feel so much relaxed because of the work out. I understood that it was just a number and that I should care for my health and fitness and not the number.

Why you weight gain with exercise: - You're eating too much more than you burn. - STRESS. - it's okay to gain weight, what important is to go back and start again. 💪🔥

This is a really sensitive topic for me. I always thought that more exercises would make me a "better" person. I trained without breaks and started to feel bad once I missed a day. I reached the stage where I gained weight because of this and I started not feeling good in my skin. I spent quite a lot of time recovering both physically and mentally. I would have liked to talk to someone about these issues. Therefore, thank you for posting and for encouraging me to talk about my experience

@@Normalise123 Not gonna lie... I searched and find this "If you exercise too hard on a daily basis, there is an excess of inflammation in your body. All the added up inflammation makes you gain more weight than lose". This made me understand what was going on with my body. It may be different in your situation. I rely heavily on medicine and I think this may be a good answer

This could also be muscle mass! 2 kg is completely fine and can very well be just muscle! In this case, measuring yourself with a tape or filming yourself to see progress would be a better indicator.

Tw:Weight, ED, I used to weight 163 pounds by age 12 and I was so insecure about my body. When quarantine hit I wanted to come back to school looking skinny which led me to a eating disorder. I cut out all junk food even Italian food AND I LOVE ITALIANN FOOD! I put myself in a 500 calorie deficit and worked out and lost 20 pounds with in 1-2 months. Then I became guilty after eating 500 calories and only ate 200 calories and then I got so guilty for 200 calories that I only ate 50 calories. I lost 30 more pounds and I though I was healthy. A lot of people told me its unhealthy but i didnt care because I was getting compliments from left to right and I loved when people told me that I looked skinny. I often had headaches and felt like fainting. Then I started watching your videos and I slowly started eating more and healthier. I started eating italian food again and now I gained 2.5 pounds. I know its not much but I did gain 10 pounds of confidence thanks to you. Thank you anna 🥺💗

TW: ED I feel like exercise became an addiction for me, I can't go without a day without doing something or I'll feel horrible. The thing is that I'm exercising every day, most days with weights and at the same time I don't eat any carbs or protein at all so I don't have the strength to do the workouts. And when I have a "rest day" which for me is doing pilates, I eat above 200 calories.. I can't bring myself to eat more or to exercise less :/

I know how you feel but in a different situation. You will find your strength one day. I avoided my fear for almost a year and it was a necessity. So it takes time. Just feed yourself anything positive like motivation speeches etc. Write your feelings down everyday. You can maybe eat a little more everyday. Like take baby steps. Also try to take a rest day of course the feeling of disappointment of yourself is soo horrible but it takes time to heal. ❤️
@annaneubert

Girl I know you feel really helpless right now but you need yourself to be strong! Eating disorders are a very tough topic and healing takes such a long time!! But you have to believe in yourself first. I know you got this and eventually you will end up on a healthy path but take things slow and take care please! I want you to be healthy! Maybe slowly try to up your calories, maybe add a protein bar for a day or so (just small baby steps). Take things slow, don’t rush it. Wishing you all the best! ❤️

I’m so glad you posted this. I’m currently going through the exact situation, overtraining that led to weight gain. From recovering my period that I’ve lost for over a year, finally healing my relationship with food and falling in love with fitness. Ive been frantically trying to figure this out and it’s affecting me a lot :(( I always thought that the higher the intensity the workout, the better, and I’ve come to learn that it’s not always the case. All the cortisol from stress resulted in fat gain and hormonal imbalances among other stuff that’s doing more probs doing harm than good. I’m prioritizing rest ,yoga, and low impact walking as opposed to running now. Guess we gotta trust the process to allow your body to trust you. Thank you for this Anna !!

@@Miriam-pp5ys I had symptoms like hair loss and was cold and felt weak all the time. I later discovered the root causes for my period loss was underrating, and frequent exercise topped by stress. It wasn’t easy but learning to listen to my hunger cues and adding more healthy fats, just trying to have more meals and snacks throughout the day, and taking a break from exercise to do stretching instead. Hope this helps xx

Thank you for making this video! :) I've been recovering from overexercising as well- irregular periods, a CRAZY appetite, and inflammation all the time. I was also bullied as a kid- and I eventually developed an eating disorder. I'm 25 now, and I still unconsciously teeter between disordered habits and healthy habits. I agree that the false narrative of the fitness industry is culpable for so many people developing obsessive, disordered, and/or unhealthy habits and relationships with their bodies, with exercise, and with food. Your story is not only vulnerable and genuine, but it's something that so many other impressionable young people can relate to. Sending love

This video is exactly what I need! I remember back then went the quarantine just started, I was on the heaviest point of my body which made me so insecure and lack self-confidence. At that point, I decided to change my life and started working out again. It got to the point where if I'm missing a day, I feel so guilty; I increase my workout more, etc. After about 2 months of working out daily, I started to notice that I gain weight; my hips, arms, and thighs grow about 1,5 inches. And I just clueless about what's going on. After about hours of searching about the causes, I realised that I over-exercise my body. And I decided it's time to take a rest, decrease my workout intensity, get enough sleep, eat nourishing food, etc. Therefore, thank you for uploading this video, and encouraging me to talk about my experience ❤ Ps. However, if I do oats, brown rice and a couple squares of dark chocolate w almonds? No change in body fat or even pounds. But I also do weights then cardio at least three times a week so that helps w my otherwise very sedentary lifestyle. Thanks for your realness, we’ve all been there!

Thank you for explaining these things when almost the whole community’s encouraging work out as more as we can. I’ve currently been in a binge for a few days, which didn't happen to me in my pre workout days. I was not even a sweet tooth and not into junk food. Now I almost workout everyday but suddenly become so stressed and hungry all the time and crave for many things I didn't like before. Now I'm thinking about to change

Thank you for this video. I can totally relate, I really never prioritize sleep and I always wanted to stay busy but I’m sure I was only stressing my body out. Especially when it didn’t get enough rest, then I would eat more too. I’m sorry to hear some of these comments were triggering, I really think this was a super helpful video. I appreciate it, you got this! We got this! 💖💃🏻

I never believed that a video was going to explicitly explain my last three 3 years. This video has made me feel so exposed, but you have made me understand everything I wanted to deny. I've always been told, but trying to ignore it was my option. As you said I lost weight, but as it was in the most wrong way, damaging me, this year brought with it a weight gain of 10 kilos and with knee pain that I could never cure, now I feel bad, somewhat depressed because to go back to what That was before it will take time, however I will travel again in this but in a safe way with me giving rest that I never gave, I will no longer do high intensity exercise and concentrate on yoga and Pilates and light things for my recovery and to keep moving forward. thanks for this video, thanks for telling your story. 🤍

This is actually me rn! I started HIIT last year, did 40-50 minute workouts and while I quickly lost weight in 3-4 months, I soon noticed my thighs getting bigger and I got so frustrated. The stress of finals prep also made me more tired and less motivated to workout. I realise that I need to not go so hard on my body, rest, cut down on heavy workouts and incorporate more LISS in my workout. I’m actually planning to start Pilates workouts too since I want to slim my thighs from overworking them.

Hi Anna love your videos and I have a veeeeeyyy similar story to yours I've been over exercising counting every single calorie going from a moderate calorie deficit to starvation I slept every night literally starving and after 2 months I lost my period for about 5months my mantle health was very bad my body image my self-esteem was down till this Ramadan I couldn't fit workouts to my scaduale since I had university exams so I only did low impact at home and not every day and I'm sure I gained weight and I'm scared to weight my self but the good thing is I got my period back so I just want to remind you you're not alone in this love you so much 💜

Girl don’t be afraid of weight gain, okay!! If you lost your period and after all that suffering it’s good for your body if you gained some weight back! This happened to me last year and early of this year. I would workout 3x a day EVERYDAY. Taking a day off was an ultimate SIN for me.I would do weight training in the afternoon, walk/jog in the evening & cardio at night. But with all of that... i still didnt lose weight :’) i only lost 2kgs. And maintained that weight throughout the time. Eventually, I made the decision to rest for a month in march 2021. And that was the best decision of my life. Im so happy with my current body and mental state. I have just been watching my food portion/intake which is always try to be in a caloric deficit & only working out once/twice a week. And guess what? I have lost 6kgs in total. Im so happy. I love my body and i feel so bad for putting my body through all those unnecessary stress in the past😭

Overexercising is a serious topic and I'm glad you're now trying to find a more balanced life, that works better for you. I just wanted to say though: intuitive eating can show eating snacks, chips and other things throughout the day. Intuitive eating might also include night snacks, midnight chips, cookies and ice cream... It's not binge eating. Probably you should use this term more consciously because it's a disease. Intuitive eating is listening to your bodies hunger cues no matter what time of the day. Binge eating is stuffing yourself to very uncomfortable fullness, often without even realizing/having the chance to stop, no matter what time of the day. Over eating is eating too much which you probably meant in the end of your video ;) Eating an extra snack because of boredom, pear pressure, ....
@annaneubert
@annaneubert 3 жыл бұрын
Yes I am sorry if that came across wrong! I am aware of the difference, the reason why I used that is because with some you tubers it often felt like they weren’t genuinely eating intuitively as they were shoving all the junk down at night but obviously I don’t know what’s going on with them. I’m sorry if I used wrong words tho!!
@yum.peace.happines1641
@yum.peace.happines1641 3 жыл бұрын
@@annaneubert I get your point of view as well. Now, most of the times, to me it doesn't feel intuitive to eat that late and as many snacks as some youtubers out there but remembering back when I came from sever restriction I went through a phase where I ate lots of snacks and suffered from nighttime hunger. Sometimes I woke up three times because of hunger (stomach growling) So having lots of snacks and nighttime foods was my intuitive back then. I guess intuitive eating changes a lot throughout the time. That's why no-one ever should compare with others or even with the own past self.

I've been trying to recover from my relationship with food (my ED so I'm eating foods that I avoided and controlling my portions bcs I've binged eat and fasted) and I've realized that ive been overexercising as well..idk if its bcs I'm on the way on my recovery that I'm gaining fat (I wanted to gain muscles through exercising and bcs it does make me feel good and I stopped looking at the weighing scale...I've been stressed by other things so I rely on relieving my stress through exercise) but ive been seeing that I did...idk how to tell but I've been trying to take some rest days ..I don't have anyone to guide me so I'm a bit lost that's why im glad Im finding videos like yours. I've been changing my workout routine tho,, since I'm aiming to tone my body more so I just do low impacts with toning along with cardio...but one thing I'm happy about is that my strength has gained a lot and that's one thing I'm focusing on as well..im trying my best to rest when I need to rest and trying to find new hobbies like drawing and reading or watching to keep myself busy ..I can say I'm doing alright but I'm a bit lost and I need some guidance
