Sorry for the delay in uploads now that travel has slowed for the year i'll get the rest of this series polished off for you.
Septic is a necessity for some because of their location others have it thrust upon them and at least in my area is usually an indicator of a town with lower taxes and higher property values. Although it is significantly more expensive up front in the long run it pays off big in the savings.

I would have never guessed in a million years that they would not only permit a septic in that area, but somehow that would be your only option.

That's a pretty crazy system for supposedly having a good perc. Woulda been maybe 3-4 laterals in good soil here with just 18" trenches and chambers for the laterals. No speed levellers in the d-box either. Plus the laterals are not level. Interesting to see how differently they do things in other states.

Strange that the clean out is halfway between the tank and house. I'm an installer and we have to have clean outs within 6' of the building in my area. That's also an insain amount of sand, I've never had to use that much in any of my installs, but engineers always know best right?

What does 1250 gallon mean? What's the turd per gallon ratio?

Asking the *real* questions.
@honzarox
@honzarox 6 ай бұрын
From Google: The average person poos about 30 milliliters of stool for every five kilograms of body weight a day. 1250 gallons is 4731765 milliliters. Assuming Rob weighs around 72 Kg, he would produce, on average, 432 ml of poop, per day. Let's assume 432 ml produces two turds, i.e. one turd = 215 ml. 4,731,765 ml (or 1250 gallons) is around 22,008 times 215 ml, or, as you asked, around 17 turds per gallon.
@TheBrokenLife
@TheBrokenLife 6 ай бұрын
Although I prefer, and wouldn't dare dream to try to top, the answer you were given in turds/gallon... The reason they're rated by tank size goes to size/expected occupancy of the house. There's a formula worked out for the amount of water desired to keep the human decay, decaying... Plus the expected surges from other uses that will take the drain field time to dissipate. The tank is half processing center (the turds process there "forever", in theory... or you get it pumped every now and then) and half storage tank (just waiting for the water to drain back into nature).

if you did a perc test on the ground before you even bought the land you would have known why no one had built there. not having good soil for the leach field makes things very expensive its why you had to bring in so much stone
