I cannot believe it has been 1 whole year since I was laid off from my job! That means also one year as a youtuber, it is absolutely wild to look at how far i've come and to reflect on where i've been, what i've accomplished, and most importantly, lessons learned. I hope this video helps out anyone going through a tough time, whether that be unemployment, getting laid off, a breakup, the loss of a loved one or anything else along those lines. Sending you love! 💗

I agree about work not being your identity. I used to work at an insurance company, now I work part-time at a library and I’m much happier. I also agree having good close friends is so important, I was able to end a toxic relationship. Hopefully, I will start dating again this year and meet a nice guy! I’m glad your channel is doing well, you’ve earned it! 💜👍

Work not being your identity is a core point that is being discussed at burnout therapies as people tend to forget that they are not their job and that they don't work for "their" company... SO important to remember. I am so so amazed by your evolution and your growth over those past 12 months. Congrats!!

I agree! Wild to think it’s “our” company, until decisions like layoffs are made completely out of our control. Thanks for the kind comment! I’m also amazed with my growth! Thanks for being here! 😊

Your platform has really helped me. I have struggled with finding employment after losing my career after 25 years. It’s the income that isn’t there but the crazy thing is I’m very happy. It’s almost like I can’t be happy unless I’m miserable in a career that isn’t for me. Not that any of it makes sense. anyway thank you!!

That's awesome you've been able to create a supplementary income! You absolutely do not need to feel ashamed, we live in a culture that only prioritizes money and views people's value with how much they make, but I'm sure that as a wife and now as a mother you contribute so much more to your family then what could even be matched in monetary terms! Money certainly can help you achieve goals but it's certainly not the end all be all and the amount you make whether big or small does not determine your worth. ❤

I absolutely agree. I’m so grateful that my KZfaq channel does make me a little bit of supplemental income to help out, it was definitely just hard for a while there when my income was cut to a fraction of what it was before. But I also think that doing this now will allow me more time to be a present mother in a few months which is a huge win for me ❤

It feels like congratulations on this milestones is in orders, although you probably wouldn't have expected this to be something you'd celebrate a year ago when it happened. It is so good to see someone (you :-) ) accepting life's challenges as just that and being open to the lessons and hidden treasures that come with it. So defnitely congratulations, and also thank you for sharing your thoughts and perspective. As always an inspiration to review one's own life situation and consider how the perceived negative might have more layers than just being "something awful" or unwanted. And a thought that has come to me every time I've watched one of your recent videos: have you considered offering 1:1 sessions? Like consultations for content creation, or fitness? I feel like both would be so aligned with who you are / who I know from your content. You're already sharing great tips and valuable advice, and it would feellike a natural extension to offer this even more personalized. It also feels in line with your thought of creating several streams of income. Just a thought. I know this kind of qualifies as unsolicited advice, but since I've been thinking it on several occasions now, I just felt like I finally had to say it. :-) Maybe you're already planning on it anyways.

Hi! first off, thank you so much for the kind and thoughtful comment! I’m so proud of how far I’ve come and that I was able to turn a horrible situation into something I love and am even happier doing than I was in my 9-5. Great idea on the 1:1 sessions! I actually haven’t considered that as an extension to my channel but it’s definitely worth considering. I’ll need to do some research on it but thank you so much for the idea! 💕

Are you considering a 9-5 in the future or ever not doing KZfaq? Anything you miss besides consistent income about a 9-5?
@jessssalemme
@jessssalemme 6 ай бұрын
If I don't ever have to go back to a 9-5 that would be fine with me! I would say I miss consistent income as well as some of those other perks (like insurance lol). But I also do miss meeting people through work, making new friends and that sort of thing. Working as a one woman show is a little lonely! Hope to one day be large enough to have a team of people that work on my KZfaq channel
