A Hoarder's Heart

3 ай бұрын

I was so shocked to find out that I was getting laid off bc the owner sold the storage facility. It happened so fast and it feels like a great loss. My nervous system instantly wanted to hoard, but I’ve grown too much to go back to that. In this episode we’re going to talk about releasing the scarcity mindset and transitioning into the abundance mindset! God gives us blessings each and every day, we just need to look for them!

@@ludwigvonmiseswasright4380 no for her this would literally have a pay off. Firstly she would use the craft items she has, secondly she would be creative which has always been a safe space and outlet for her, plus it will likely stop a relapse into hoarding cause she would end up seeing all of her stuff. Secondly she loves having people have items that they adore. The payout would be a million times revenue just not in money but rather security and peace of mind. Plus building better habits and outlooks. Literally perfect!! GO ALL IN 😁 lol

It'd be fun to see you help your husband go through all his stuff in the basement. If he doesn't want to be on camera maybe shoot it like you do with your kids? Basement videos are my favorite. Seeing you help others with their hoarding would be really neat to see.

YES to how to help a hoarder declutter!! My ageing (boomer) mum is finally letting me start with little, more recent additions and things with expiry dates BUT the bigger and older items are still a no-go as yet. This is the family home of 100years+ so has generations of hoards, while my mum's health and mobility are declining. Any tips on how to progress past the easier items would be greatly appreciated please, Ms Hart, so I can make the place safer for her 💗🙏

The most important thing to do when laid off is to apply for unemployment insurance as quickly as possible. Even if you have severance, having your application processed quickly will prevent gaps in income. It’s not a loan or a handout. Your employer pays the state for unemployment insurance on your behalf. In some cases you might also pay a portion of your pay towards it.

@Anberel
@Anberel 3 ай бұрын
@@ahoardersheart it varies from state to state. Here you can complete your application and then each week you report any income received from your severance which modifies how much you receive that week (but not how much you are eligible for overall, you just get extra weeks.) This is good for situations in which the weekly severance is less than your original pay. It’s worth looking at the form right now anyway so you have all your information organized and ready to submit as early as possible. I was a contractor for 17 years so I’ve had to do it at least a dozen times. Best of luck!

I would love a video aimed at kids, showing them why it is ok to throw away or donate toys and craft items that aren't their favorites, with a focus on how good it feels to have a bedroom with enough space to play in it, and how easy it is to put things away when there are less things in the room. How a child can get started cleaning when they feel like it is so messy that it's overwhelming and impossible to do on their own.

Honestly, you don't always need to do a voice-over. You could easily just set up the camera and show yourself getting things accomplished. Moving things around, going through bins, organizing, etc. You could always just pop in every now and then and briefly explain what your doing, but, I think you'll find people will be pleased just to see you making big process! Your followers will continue to watch, and showing a whole clean out, with a catchy title like a "The Great Garage Un-hoard: is it all Tossy-Tossy?" for instance might draw in some new subs that really enjoy watching deep cleans, organizations, and junk removal. You'll find your way, but don't feel like you have to voice-over every step of the way. Add some tunes and screen titles, and show us what your doing!

I had seen in the newspaper advice column last year where a guy was cleaning out his Mother’s hoarded home after she died…he brought stuff to his home to go through it at his convenience…and then found his wife had thrown it out behind his back…and he wanted to go through it first! His wife is a “minimalist” and added that she’ll buy new things and if she doesn’t have a place for it or doesn’t use it she gets rid of that, too…money wasted …and it upsets him. A good topic for your channel…how to deal with other people in your family or others who aren’t respectful of boundaries and also supportive of helping someone through this issue…knowing how to deal with things like that 😀🌞👍

I was free from that pain & suffering at last. 😊 Then the fear came back I could not get a job as I was 61😢. I started to declutter & decorat our house doing the gardening It felt good. But I still felt sad as I was not bringing in a wage it was left to my husband . I felt it not fair on him. I can't get past this as I can't get my pension for another 5 years and my husband fills he can't retire next year . This makes me feel guilty. But now I'm declutting thankyou. Here in Colorado when I was laid off I checked and four that a person has to have full time work for 4 quarters...one year in the state before being eligible for unemployment money. Also the person has to apply and get interviews for jobs that they would be qualified to do every week. The weeks of unemployment money is just for a limited time only. It was tough finding a new job.

I was laid off in 2015 and it was the hardest thing I ever went thru. Between the severance package and unemployment, money was okay. What wasn't okay was the loss of my identity, my daily purpose, the way in which my company did it, and the PTSD it still causes to this day. You will grieve for that job, for that position you were in, for the tasks you loved to do, for your boss who was wonderful to you. You may grieve for years and if so that is okay. You are a strong lady. One day at a time. Peace.

It’s so sad how common layoffs are nowadays. It’s happened to me twice too. The first time was very unexpected and scary. The second time wasn’t as bad. I definitely think this will turn out to be a blessing in disguise. I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds for you.

I'm so happy you are seeing these changes in a positive way for yourself and the owner. I'd really like to see more about how you work on not rehoarding, not buying more, not accumulating more. I feel like I do great about letting things go, deciding and organizing but I still bring so much into my home almost unintentionally. It hurts my progress, my bank account and my heart to still be stuck in that cycle when I feel like I've made so much progress elsewhere. Any insight you have on that, including maybe guests or information from experts, would be really helpful!

You have been working so hard on improving your state of being with clearing away ‘stuff’. I can’t help but feel this will be a blessing in disguise from the Universe. The fact that you have been working on getting rid of stored items - the Universe is like ‘well done’, a storage facility no longer resonates with your energy. This will be a good thing 💗

Oh no, my heart broke about losing your job. I lost my job in 2020 thank you covid. A full year later I was hired into a new industry and still have that job. What a great opportunity. The layoff included almost 40 days of vacation pay (no severance) and unemployment. My current position is more $$ than the other company. You have so many opportunities for your future.

Take a little more time to rest and recover from surgery. I am happy for you. And, tell your boss/friend thank you for taking care of you with the package. I am sure you were a fun and fantastic employee. May God continue to bless you and your dreams.

I'd like you to focus on talking about your future decorating plans. For example, your plans for your basement and perhaps do multiple day decluttering session edited into one 15 min video, so that there is more done in each video (can do the same amount each session but so that you do not get tired out do more sessions of decluttering per week with frequent breaks). I'd love to see you be able to move your car into your garage. Maybe move hubby's woodworking and hobbies to the back shed, after another decluttering of your backshed. To see some of your warm weather gardening would be lovely, you might have an opportunity to germinate any seed packets that you've been hoarding. Conduct those garage sale or sales. Maybe another laundry declutter, if it needs it. A fresh coat of paint in your main bathroom. There's so much around your home that you could film. Then move onto helping other hoarders in their homes.

My boyfriend went through the same thing recently. His job of two years was in debt of $2 million so it had to shut down. He didnt know what to do but through his boss's son and the suppliers (he worked at an electric company) he was able to get a new job within a month. Here's the crazy part, Miss Heart. A few months ago a woman confronted him at the grocery store. She noticed his cross necklace and told him that in the foreseeable future, he'll encounter a setback but that he'd get better out of it since God would see him through it. God saw him through it indeed! He loves his new job and he's able to grow more with it. I'm sorry that you were laid off but i love your positive attitude. I hope you can expand A Hoarder's Heart! ❤

I love all of your videos. I love it when you are chatty on a topic, but sometimes I would also like to know the stories behind what you find as you are searching. So instant reaction instead of voice over like some of your older videos. I also love the decorate and crafts, but decluttering is by far my favorite. I would also like to see your homemaking a bit more. Just anything and everything, honestly. Lol. 🦄 🎉

Yes, please! I love that you are seeing it as an opportunity, but, I think it's also okay to grieve the loss of your job. You know that it was nothing you did to cause it and hopefully that gets you over the surprise of the loss and you can keep moving forward. I can see you now being able to concentrate on what lies before you. Yay! Good for you and the very best wishes! 🥰🤩❤❤❤

That must be tough, being made redundant in this economy. What’s worse, is (I’m British so I’m not exactly sure how it works) that healthcare insurance in the US is done through work? So how do you guys access healthcare during times of unemployment? On the bright side, I know you’ve had a fortnight to come to terms with what’s happening before telling us, which is why you might sound so positive, but it’s nice to see you so positive and crafting again. I know you love crafting so hopefully, you’ll get more time to do it, especially if you can pop it in a video like this and make some revenue off of it. I’d like to talk about anxiety. Today actually, I was prescribed anti-anxiety meds for the first time, but I do the opposite thing when I’m anxious, I do a big declutter and chuck loads of stuff out as it makes me feel in control of my space

In 2020 I was forced to close my business for three months suddenly. I was terrified, had an emergency fund (like your severance). I didn’t know how long I was going to have to be closed so I hit the budget hard and got down to the nitty gritty. I think just canceling subscriptions, refinancing the house, finding high interest savings accounts for the emergency fund, and really meal planning and perfecting cheap meals will save I kid you not hundreds of thousands of dollars over my life. The refinance alone. I would never of had time for that without those three months of unplanned time off. I don’t know what blessing you will get out of this, but I hope it’s something really good.
