I couldn’t really share substantial footage of my wedding due to the privacy of my guests, but I did want to share just a teeny bit to celebrate! We are both going back to work today but hope to take a little honeymoon vacation sometime in the future, who knows! It was a wonderful weekend, sending you all much love and I will see you soon ❤️

Paola I love love this. I was a hot mess at my wedding and the whole year preceding it was so stressful. On my wedding day TBH I didn’t enjoy it. I was so drunk and I couldn’t wait for it to be done with. Over 300 people came including ones I don’t even know. I felt like I had to post everything and check off all the boxes of what I thought it meant to be a bride like the messy bachelorette party, the photo shoots of every angle that I never printed, the expensive video team to record a video I don’t even watch, the huge wedding dress that’s now somewhere in my garage, the favors that only half the guests took home, the little details no one remembers. Kudos to you for not drinking the American wedding Kool-Aid and staying true to yourself and respecting yourself and your loved ones. If I was to do it over again, it’d be simple and small and I’d put the rest as a down payment for a house. Go on girl and do your thing! Congrats love!

I recently had my engagement ceremony a month ago, my wedding is in May. I am already so stressed. My engagement event went smooth, went peacefully and we had fun. Although I missed some minor details on my engagement like the accessories/attire could have been better, I looked simple for a bride, the lighting wasn't proper etc. I am so stressed about what went wrong that the idea of the bigger event, the wedding is giving me anxiety attacks. Looking back, all I remember of the day is not the fun part, but everything else that I didn't do right or could have planned better. It's so sad, that this "wedding business" has made us believe simple is not acceptable. All the hype around the wedding is nothing but an illusion, a social conditioning. All that matters truly is your marriage, the fact that you get to spend your life with the one you love. the only thing that matters on your wedding is the blessings, presence and wishes of your loved ones on that day. Watched this video long back. I needed the reminder from Paola so much today. I hope I am able to let go of the obsessive thoughts and regrets soon.

This video caused me to tear up because watching how simply and economically you managed to celebrate your wedding day, it hit me how far astray we have gone as a society with materialism, overspending and overdoing. I agree. It's ridiculous these days how every thing is video'd. No privacy, everyone's whole life put out there for the world to see. And the extravagant nonsense that goes into most modern day weddings is ridiculous too. Planning for a year worrying about centerpieces and favors and the videographer and first dance, on & on, a bunch of baloney that costs thousands. People have lost the art of simplicity and privacy both!

When I got married, we had a very small non-traditional ceremony with only a handful of people. I wore a navy blue tiered dress and he wore a navy suit. No big crazy planning, no running around, no bridezilla situations, I did my own hair and simple makeup. The marriage is more important than the wedding.

We had a wedding just after my Mother died and all 4 daughters and the grand-daughter (the bride) had our moments of tears but the beauty of it was that one person had said just before the wedding that butterfly’s made her think of my mother and right in the middle of the ceremony, a great, big, beautiful butterfly flew through the nuptials. It made us all so happy. Rainbows are what represent my father and there was one of them in the day as well. It will hurt but know that they are with you in spirit. Hope this helped.

I’m getting married in a month and planning this has been one of the most stressful and unenjoyable experiences of my life to try to please everyone. Wishing you a lovely day! We definitely had those moments of overwhelm, but in the end keeping it simple really helped us, we focused on having a lot of food and remembering everyone is there for us ❤️ sending you a big hug! It will all turn out great, and any hiccups make a great story!
