I GOT MY HORSE’S EYE REMOVED 😬

As many of you may know, Ella suffers from uveitis and has been dealing with it for the past few years. With no cure for the disease, we have tried our best to preserve her vision and keep her comfortable despite the incredibly painful flares it causes. Finally the pain for little Ella was just too much, and we had to make a decision about her eye😞
I wanted to share this experience with you all in case it helps anyone going through anything similar and just to let you all in to what was a major life event for Ella and I. It’s been an incredibly stressful time, as no one likes to see their baby in pain, but now we’re through the other side I’m ready to put it out there 💙

I owned a pony who had no eye… he was the kindest most special horse I’ve ever owned and I loved him❤❤ she looked like a wonderful horse, she’s even more special now, I’m telling you!!

Bless her heart, I am sure she will be so much happier with one eye. It is amazing how quickly they adapt to this big change and I wish her the best of luck

Thank you for sharing this video. My horse is having her eyeball removed next week and I've been so sad and worried about it. This has really settled my mind and helped prepare me for what it's going to look like afterwards too.

Thank you for sharing this. I’m facing the same thing with my horse. He had the implant surgery done to his eye that time-releases the medication to minimize his flares but it isn’t helping. Eye removal is his best option and your video is very helpful in my decision to do the same for my guy. Best of luck to you.

Hi! I’m so sorry you’re going through this. It is horrible. The implants are supposed to be really great for some horses but not all😢 I hope the eye removal goes okay. I’m glad I went for it with Ella because she’s so much happier. Good luck ❤️

Awww so was it just the one eye causing problems then? Glad she's starting to perk up abit she's an absolute angel of a horse.

Yes it has just been one eye. I’m praying it doesn’t begin in the other. Thank you ❤️

Yes just one eye. I’m a lot of cases it does start in the other eye too because it’s an immune issue. I check every day xx

Hey Alanna, wish you all the best for Ella and for you😢hopefully everything goes well in the future. But when trying to touch her Eye I would stand in front if her so she can see what you’re doing, or what do you think?

Did she have uveitis at only one eye or is her other eye also affected?

It was in one eye so I’m being careful with the other because it’s and autoimmune issue x

@@AlannaClarkeEquestrian Thank you for your answer! Unfortunatly my horse also suffers from uveitis😓She has a unusual form which affects the iris of both her eyes. She is currently being treated with eye drops. After this treatment it will hopefully stay away for a few months. Today I ordered the eQuick eVysor for her. If it comes back we will need to place an implant in the back of her eye which releases anti-inflammatory drugs for a long period of time (years). So we still have options fortunately. However there is a 50% change that one of her eyes needs to be removed one day. Seeing your videos about Ella her condition gives me hope it will be alright. PS. My horses name is also Ella😍
