I'm an Atlanta native and I agree with you 100 percent. I have cut off so many people. Stalking, SA, scamming, and thefts have amped up. While I love Atlanta for the Black businesses and the events, I also recognize that it has always been materialistic-- the majority of the people can't afford the lifestyle that their portraying. I'm moving myself soon.

I was sent to Atlanta to do a temporary project for my job for about a month. I wanted to like it; but after three days, I was more than ready to go home. I think Atlanta is ok to visit, but there is too much spiritual wickedness there for it to feel like home. The classism and colorism were also a turn-off. While I like the idea of being around other black people, the experience is not enjoyable when they are only using or mistreating each other. It was a place of fake, plastic acquaintainces, but not a place where it seemed like you'd ever have a real, true friend. I was more than ready to leave when it was time to go. And I had a sadness in my heart that this is what black people are doing to each other. No black unity at all in that mess.

You ain’t never lied!!!! I am leaving Atlanta! I’ve been here 25 years! It is the local people from here!!! Southern hospitality my azz! The people from Atlanta are a trip!!!!! My car broke down. I’ve have lived where I live for 7 years. My neighbors have lived next to me several years. On occasion we have had small conversations. My car broke down. I don’t live far from the corner store. I asked one of my neighbors, as she was outside. When you have time. do you have time to give me a ride to the store? She replied, yes when I go, I will let you know. A few hours went by. I decided to walk to the store. Do you know while I was walking, this woman drove past me, waved her hand and kept going? Many of my neighbors do that. They are from Atlanta!!! This is why after all these years here? I’m going back up north. At least I know my my neighbors at home, will stop when they see me walking. I live in East Cobb, most of my neighbors are black, I’m black. Atlanta folks are different!

A few years ago I was dead set on moving to ATL. During the pandemic I was there almost every other weekend. Spending so much time there I got a chance to see The Real Atlanta. And just like you I was like this ain’t me therefore it definitely ain’t FOR me. A big thing for me was the scamming, robbing and lack of southern hospitality. Somebody described the last part perfectly for me. Everybody thinks they’re a celebrity because they have such close proximity to celebrities. I’m good on Atlanta. I’ll visit every now and then and just keep it pushing.

My sister loves ATL. She moved there years ago & she got married. She's settled now. ATL is not for me. I get a feeling for a place, and ATL has an overall bad vibe. I live in NYC, a 24/7 hectic town, but NYC is about making money the right way. No one has time to be thieving and stealing as a lifestyle,

I've been in Atlanta for about 17 years and yes it has dramatically changed over the years. Fortunately I haven't experienced any of the things you mentioned but have only heard about it. I have always generally kept to myself which is one of the reasons I haven't experienced much drama. I've never been stalked until I moved to West Hollywood, California and that was only within the first month of moving there. That was scary! If anyone decides to move to the Atlanta area, Dunwoody in the Ashford-Dunwoody area is one of the safest areas to live. I've been in this area as long as I've been in Atlanta except once I moved to Sandy Springs on Roswell Rd. and even that area was pretty safe. Research and choose wisely. '

I'm from the Metro Atlanta area and I can agree that Atlanta ain't what it used to be. The people not from here does have an affect on the cultural shift but on the other hand we are seeing a change in our livelihood. Atlanta used to be affordable place to live but the change in cost of living has literally brought the worse out of some people. Yes we already had scammers prior to 2016 however when theres an attack on wages and affordable housing .. people become desperate. It's unfortunate but it's our current reality.

I’m a native Atlantan and I testify that everything in this vid is absolute FACTS! I left the A because my soul didn’t sit right there anymore. The underworld has always been there, but every since the movie industry got there, the underworld took over. I don’t think I’m ever going back. Not even to visit. I feel like I made it out of a war zone. There is nothing left in Atlanta, that made it the attraction it used to be.

I drove into Atlanta and immediately saw how ratchet it was just looking for a place to eat. I visited Six Flags in Atlanta and never went back. There were frequent fights, unruly teenagers, shootouts, they trashed the bathroom from a fight, gangs came in at night and the police showed up with dogs. That was my que to exit and never return. Everytime I drive into Atlanta, I see the most gruesome car wrecks on the highway! Lots to do if you can visit peacefully, but I wouldn't live there.

I've been in Atlanta for 15 years (from Florida) and I've definitely seen the mall situation change and customer service here is horrible. Lenox Mall and Phipps Plaza are not the same. I went there over a year ago and haven't been back b/c the high quality vibe is gone. Police presence all over the place. Re: customer service in Atlanta, they have beyond a 'take it or leave it' vibe, like you're encroaching upon their space and taking items out of their kitchen-- and these are indeed Atlanta people. I've also experienced nonexistent items in stores. In general, I've experienced many attitudinal (black) people: women walk by like you want their man and start acting extra and the men are often rude for various reasons. I'm not used to such attitudes from people I don't even know lol. Aside from work, I usually keep to myself, but I try to be very discerning re: people and my environment. I've heard about everything else you've said though!

I've read a recent story on Lenox Mall and it's the gremlins that are messing it up for everyone! I haven't been to Lenox Mall since 2012 but Lenox and Phipps Plaza was always Thee upscale malls in ATL. Covid has really thrown things off even in the way we interact with each other (personal and customer service). I think Alot of these businesses have to start having seminars on proper customer service

I lived there 16 months and moved 2015. You are telling the truth! Every single word resonated with me! I think Atlanta is beautiful and the food is great but the rift raft and evil is running rampant! I wished I had saw your video before moving there because it would have helped me not second guess the things I experienced. I thank God that my husband was with me and God was with us. He blessed us to get out but it was a spiritual fight. In short my husband was a victim of identity theft and we had to get the police involved. The medical care honey Chile was wicked and you were on point! God bless you and keep shining you are beautiful.🥰

I LOVE that place, but when you said it’s not the same, it really isn’t. Its changed so much over the years. I always say it grew me up as well, some of the best times of my life were there, loved seeing Black people everywhere at every level and station of life. Most of my doctors were Black, it was a beautiful thing! But in the end, it was too far away from my family and I too was there alone. I love to visit, but I don’t think living there again is on my Bingo card.

Anywho, I lived there for 4 years, moved out came back to visit 5 years later several times and the energy was different. I told my sister everything said in this video as why I didn't really want to move back. She tried to always convince me it was like the best place on earth, but I realized she was one of the type of people that I'd run into that made me not like the place anymore. She wasn't a criminal or scammer. Just vain, superficial, somewhat manipulative, business license with no business forever and overall, a dreamer looking for a get rich quick somewhat celebrity lifestyle. I eventually realized why she caped for it so hard and I seen through the hype and realized it was not for me. Yes visiting is fine, but I would never want to live there.

GURL!! You literally said everything I have been thinking. I keep saying to myself how much of a mistake I made by relocating here. I've had my identity stolen 3 times, been scammed out of money, folks tearing up my property and don't get me started on these folks here!! Like the one's that are actually born/raised here!! People are on some opportunist type shit here and don't give a damn about returning no type of favors. I'm from the NYC area and have never experienced the majority of this mess. Even in the first year of being here I was pulled over at least 6 times by cops profiling me. Even had a cop follow my ass from work directly to my house, pull into my driveway and demand my ID then accuse me of not living where I live!! The most disrespectful shit here!! And forget about the jobs! I think it's alarming when after being here for 10yrs that I have only just made what I was making back in NYC in 2009!! Even my tax lady was like this is crazy!! My Grandma is terrified that I'm still here and my cousins out west want me with them cuz honestly their is absolutely no reason to still be here...especially when I don't need to keep dealing with this. Also being involved in advocacy groups here has shown me just how stuck in slave mentality this state is. People herr complain but they sure don't contribute in their own communities and I'm tired at this stage. Already had 2 old neighbors leave cuz this state would not grant them any benefits at all and that right there speaks volumes!! So glad you left and I'm not far behind. Thank you for this video!

I know what you mean by being intrigued and wanting to move while visiting bcuz that happened to a friend of mine when she visited Atlanta back in the day. Around 1998 or 99. She loved it during the visit but living there was quite another story. On her first day on her new job terror struck with some guy hitting on and stalking her. Geeze - she just got there, and tried to reject the guy’s advances as nicely as possible, but no, he kept right on hounding her. And when she left work and returned to her car her tires were slashed. He did that. What a creep. 😢 She was lonely and made no real friends there, and had to leave bcuz she couldn’t withstand the heavy traffic everyday to and from work. And I heard other messed up details about Atlanta recently. Like you gotta leave car windows down to allow vehicle break ins to avoid your windows being busted. Have to give money to panhandlers or they’ll mug you. Gotta speed on the highway or get into an accident, and so on… A place full frenemies but no real friends.

I lived there for 10+ yrs. All good for growing up into adulthood, I totally agree. But, I too experienced a lot emotional trauma while living there. I lived in two high end neighborhoods , Alpharetta and Buckhead. Now, I hear they’re both crime areas now and I believe it. I would never go back to live in Atl or any of its suburbs, under no circumstances.

You know what’s funny? I am not from ATL and I only visited twice in my life BUT I watch another KZfaqr who moved to ATL only ☝🏾 year ago and she is already ready to leave. She says it’s not what they making it out to be. I wonder if she is having some of the same experiences.

I don't live in Atlanta, but I can definitely relate. Like you said, I love the culture of Atlanta, and I loved seeing so many black people in professions that I wasn't used to seeing them in. I still love visiting Atlanta on occasion. However, I don't think I would ever move there unless I was super rich and had security lol. I don't know what's going on with a lot of men nowadays. I was literally outside of my apartment complex waiting for my Doordash order and a guy I didn't know walked up to me and started asking me for my number. I kept politely declining, but he still just kept asking....It got really annoying. I finally gave him my number just so he'd go away. He called me right there just to make sure. He still didn't leave and he kept asking where I lived. I literally walked away from him and I got my order. That happened yesterday. Then earlier today, I walked across the street to make a to go order at a business. The same guy shows up and sits near me and says hi. I was very annoyed. He kept talking to me and I just kept ignoring him. He finally got up and left. This goes to show you a lot of men don't respect black womens' boundaries nor space. The first time I told him no to giving him my number (which I blocked) should've been enough. The fact that he still had the nerve to approach me after I blocked him says a lot about his mentality. There is a lot of weird energy and stalker vibes coming from a lot of the men in the community. It seems to be getting worse.

Not a fan of GA in general; however, those thing happens everywhere. The one thing I often hear everyone mention is, it's predominately Black whereas, places with well-known metro cities like LA, NY, FL TX, they're more or a bit more diverse.

Your video came through my feed and I decided to watch it to hear your experience as I am also looking to transition. You were definitely spot on with everything, absolutely everything you stated. I have been here since 2010 and I am so ready to move, I just haven’t decided yet. I have set a goal to leave within the next two years, if not sooner. I am happy that you were able to see Atlanta for what it is full circle. Congratulations to you on your move, just know there are others who share your sentiments.

Every city, at least in the U.S. has a unique/individual energy attached to it. Life will lead you to the place which allows you to ebb and flow with the natural rhythm of your life and of that location. You seem to KNOW SELF, which is a great thing. Peace & Blessings, Sis.

I co-sign everything you said, plus some! Moved to ATL during the pandemic, 1st mistake! Atlanta' undercurrent of weird vibes is real and it is crazy how a lot of people say the same thing. I moved back north twice for business since 2021 that is where the real money making! Between the unpredictable food offerings, crazy drivers and shiesty poo's my spirit never feels comfortable in Atlanta. Ok folks, you have been warned now it's up to you!
