Thanks for discussing about rejection in our profession. We nurses have immense level of grit and coping, we always get up and move on to the next endeavor. We learn and evolve. Once we are motivated and decided, nothing can stop us from reaching our goals.

I feel like the CRNA goal or chase is exhausting. I know a lot of ppl burned themselves trying to get into CRNA schools. I think it's a blessing that I have no desire to be a CRNA but I love working with CRNA! Some places are very CRNA friendly and others, treat CRNA like bedside nurses. CRNA needs to be recognized more and respected.

This video is exactly what I needed. Motivation to keep pushing, I was rejected by two programs, the one actually called me and told me I had to retake my sciences because they are 14 years old and C/B’s because beck then when I went into school i was told I need a C to pass to start my nursing program and an infant at home so I did what I had to, which obviously now I know better and regret but i didn’t know better or that I would want to go back to school! So now here i am, taking intro to micro/ A&P 1&2/ organic chem and studying my butt off for A’s, studying my butt off for a great GRE score, and I WILLL get into a program.

Great story! Someone told me once that sometimes something bad has to happen before something bigger and better can take place, sounds like this is what happened to you. I can see the lack of a sportcoat thing, but for them to assume the cold weather would be a turn off is garbage. Anyways, things took a different direction, and it was good to hear how you overcame the hurdles. Good job Bolt !!

@@BoltCRNA Thanks! And with the economy and pandemic, nowadays talk on the forums is that the smart bet falls on applying to schools with the highest pass rate, lowest attrition, and lowest tuition, with curriculums leaning toward independent practice so you can tailor to more medical facilities, no? You can always go to physician-led practices if you want to work in the city and give up autonomy but it’s harder to gain knowledge to work autonomously. Please correct me if I’m wrong. 🤷🏽‍♂️

This is proof that everything happens for a reason. A few years ago I had a great interview to teach English in Japan. Interviewers complimented my answers, I was quick on my feet. Then i wasn't even wait listed. I realize I'd much rather live and play in Japan than work, so it would've been a terrible experience for me. You found the perfect school. Yay!!!

I know their real reason for rejecting was the nerve block questions, but the suit jacket excuse was over the top. Funny how we all have to play that society game. Tucked in dress shirt and tie isn't enough... that extra cloth (jacket) is so important. At one point in history it was a tunic, another it was white wigs on our heads, Middle Eastern cultures might have a gown, ancient Egyptians might have had some jewelry, others had armor, some tribal societies wear no shirts at all. Here we use bulky uncomfortable suit jackets and restricting ties around our necks with clickety clacking dress shoes!

Great video and excellent reflections. I just wanted to ask for future videos, if you can cut out the background music, it's pretty distracting and sometimes hard to hear what you're saying. Can you also tell us what the curriculum is like? Kind of like a break down of each semester. I know it probably varies per program, but maybe just talk about what your school did?

Hey Jason, Could you suggest some programs that are known in the CRNA circles to prepare students for autonomous practice? I have no issue with medically directed CRNA providers but I would like to keep my options as open and flexible as possible! Specifically if you know if any of the schools in TX that equip SRNAs for successful autonomous practice. Thanks for the time you put into these videos! :)
@BoltCRNA

All programs should offer some rotations in independent practice. It's rare to hear of a program that does not. I haven't heard anything about the Texas programs that would make me suggest or warn against any of them.

Hey, I always try to watch any videos about being a CRNA. Whenever I run into comments I always see people being super negative about CRNA’s being much lesser than Anesthesiologists, and how CRNA’s shouldn’t even be a thing. Luckily many states allow for a certain level of CRNA autonomy, which is awesome! I’ve also seen people comment that the procedures done by CRNA’s are super simple and will be replaced by machines in the near future. I was wondering where you see the profession going in the next 20-30 years, and why you think there’s such a distaste for CRNA’s? (Sorry for the loading question but I figured you’d be a very credible person to ask) keep up the great videos!!!
@BoltCRNA

Thanks for watching the videos Kevin. My advice about seeing disgruntled and negative comments in online forums is to never expect Walmart to speak highly or praise Target. What you were reading is baseless slander.

I determined that after I’ve taken all the chemistry/physics courses and pre-reqs for said courses required for the crna schools in my state, I’ll be 10-12 courses from a bachelors in chemistry.
