I thought the same thing as you and thought he should have stopped opening them but as he continued to open I realized that he was had either way because the seller went through all the time to reglue almost every package and most likely put the .90 cent cars in the mystery cars place as they probably cost $5.00 a piece at least. The seller by doing this had no intention of acknowledging the buyer or his complaint about the scam as he has probably done this multiple times to other people and what can be done about this scammer as you know you take all the risk as a buyer and hope the transaction will be in good faith. The moral of this man's disappointment is people are always going to make a lot more than they spend which tells us that we will always live in a dishonest world and always deal with dishonest people trying to get rich off of other people's honesty. It's not right whether the guy didn't know the name of the cars or not as he probably is doing well financially or he wouldn't have taken the gamble. I'm from a big city and my money is earned through construction so I don't take chances where the odds of being ripped off are high and this I attribute to living in a high crime big city as it does keep you on your toes but doesn't always make you a scammer or a thief and especially a victim. Being honest and being dumb can be similar but only if you don't separate them !

Andrew Hitchens a lot of those castings were fantasy castings and aren’t really consider that collectible. I have a decent size collection, ~2000, and there are many castings that I couldn’t tell you the names of. Some of us that collect, only collect certain castings, that doesn’t mean we aren’t real collectors.

No, the 'factory sealing' can be opened and faked. And somebody who is very good at it can make it look factory. Some were bagged and some were not bagged. And you only have to open the pack enough to see what's inside and seal it back up if it's not what you want....and many of those cars were in the packs upside down when he pulled them out. Oh and scratches and fingerprints are also a dead giveaway the car isn't 'mint' out of pack. DUH.

Acetone brushed on the back of the card will loosen the glue allowing the removal of the car. To reseal just use a heat gun on the blister to reheat and affix the glue.

@@Murica_gaming Did they take into account the the Bugatti Veyron was a purposely scarce find, even when it wasn't in the Mystery Set? And the ~1,000 Bugattis a month spread across the world, of course he isn't going to get one by purchasing 90 from one seller. And if he really wanted on, there's a factory code on the boxes that will tell you what should be in that box is you really want to ruin the fun of it.

if you used ebay and paypal as well as found out in time (less than 2 months) then the seller had no option but to refund or be forced to refund and then take a huge hit on their account causing them to be anywhere from charged higher fees per sale, to having their account closed and banned from ebay. so always complain, and open a ticket with ebay if you think you have been scammed or ripped off in anyway, and make the seller do the right thing, also watch out for sellers that give you a runnaround where they take all day to respond to a simple message and the response is a question you already answered or has no relevance, as this is them trying to frustrate you or run out the clock so you can not open a dispute. I give them 3 messages and only 24 hours between each one, any longer and I open a dispute immediately, I also let them know what the criteria to avoid my opening a dispute is, so they know if they are trying to screw me, its going to result in that dispute which hurts their reputation. the other big thing is they send you an address to return the item, that is not in the US mail system, and will be corrected by the USmail system automatically, If you see this, be aware that they might be able to claim you never returned the item to them, and sent it to the wrong address making it your problem to get the package back, I had one try this and used google maps and the USmail service to show that the address they sent, and the correction was the same address so they ended up having to admit they got the item and that was a huge blow, but I had to actually call up, eBay customer service and walk them through the process on their end, before they realized what was going on. and I recorded the whole call and screen info incase I needed it later using OBS (open broadcaster software located at obsproject.com I believe, and free I know for sure. as an open source project so no malware or any nonsense if you install it :) ) there are ways I can show that buyers can scam sellers too, and how to protect yourself it you have a worry, you can always message me :)

I have tracks in my house going everywhere but yeah the peek switch and re-glue is a common scam the seller more than likely bought the box from a shady dealer. This happens a lot in the collectible card game market dealers will open packs take out the rares switch them for a less expensive rare and repackage them never buy or open anything that looks tampered with always box it back up and send it back if you have any doubts. I know you were excited to get some Bugatti's but you might have noticed the tampering had you slowed down and inspected the packages. You got your money back so no harm no foul but now everyone can learn the lesson about buying mystery packs. I just don't understand why these people think you ripped the seller off when you can clearly see that the packages were glued and a lot of the cars were not in the plastic dust covers. Someone went to a lot of trouble to put this scam together and it was a bad job with damaged cars switched for your rare cars you had 5 or 6 Bugatti's I would say that were switched out for the gold cars.

It has a very similar roof line, as well as, short body overhang. When he first opened it, I actually thought it was “knockoff “ of the Jeepster.

Terry G I would say that the seller is the greedy one, he scammed the guy. It was rigged from the beginning with no chance of him getting a rare casting. I am sure the seller sold the hard to find ones on eBay for a crazy amount. There are true collectors that will spend crazy money to get something they like. Personally, I don’t do that and think it is crazy, but it is their money. Just because he hoped to get several hard to find castings, doesn’t mean he intends to resale them. Some just like to have multiple examples in their collection.

They were supposedly used to try to reduce paint and finish marring from packaging, but many say they didn't do much good - getting marred finish on ones from verified and known good sources. So unless you find dirt or other foreign objects in there, or clear singns of wear, evidence of regluing is the only definitive evidence.
