Next door neighbor of mine was legit in bad physical shape and she could no longer mow her yard. I basically mowed her yard for free. The neighborly thing to do, right? Well…yes. This stretched on for about 5/6/7 years which I didn’t mind. She was going through a rough patch in her life health wise and I wanted to help. And, I love to mow. It all came to an abrupt end when I showed up to mow earlier because ai wanted to beat the incoming rain. Smart, right? Well…..yeah. Right after ai got started she came out and was fuming. Why am I mowing earlier than usual. Why didn’t I text her that I was going to mow earlier (I did but you know how technology is. Somehow she didn’t receive my text). I finally asked her if she just wanted me to stop and she said yes. A few stripes in and I was done. Forever. It doesn’t stop there. She used to be very friendly with me but after that incident she would never acknowledge me if we are outside at the same time and when I would just be friendly and say hi to her, she would give a short “hey” or grunt a bit. Fine. I mowed her damn yard for as long as I did and NEVER asked for money. Used my gas and my equipment. This is the thanks I get. What’s wrong with just paying me in kindness? Act like we used to act before that incident?? Guess that’s too much to ask of some people. Fk her….

You’re absolutely correct; our judicial system and political systems are completely corrupt. Both systems are run by attorneys; do some research… Our judicial system no longer is common law based (written law), but rather on case law. Attorneys point to other cases that would benefit their case, which may have little to do with common (written) law. Cases are predetermined in the judge’s chambers, which is not only unprofessional and unethical, but also illegal, but it happens every day; just watch for yourself and see… If a person follows the stream of money…it tends to flow to the winning side… This isn’t the America that I knew, served for, and pay a daily price for…which makes me question why I served and am paying such a price. Although, I have brothers and sisters who have given more and many families that have lost loved ones (Gold Star Families). I salute them! ❤

Doing work for friends and family rarely worked out well. My customers always paid me well, treated me well, and called me back for more. Friends that got a screaming deal, not happy. I'm not fast enough, I'm not good enough, stiff me when I'm done. NEVER AGAIN!!!

I got sued and lost even when we had permission from a neighbor for $16,000. Gotta love fake people lying for money.

Thing is that you can't let a couple of people ruin your good nature. You have some people that you help out and they turn out to be just freeloaders. Flip side of that is my new neighbor. He's a young kid and we've had a few issues with burnouts and loud music but I let it go because every single time he sees me out in the yard working on something, he asked me if he can help. I never take him up on it but that shows character.

In the past I've had issues with people when I did hardwood floors, like thats not the color I wanted, after they signed the papers. Or change their mind on something else and you do that favor and they still complain.

I did a fence for a lady, the neighbors came out and split the cost with the lady I was working for even though it was on my clients property, the neighbors even had a pizza and BEER sent to me for making both sides look better,

I put in hundreds of hours doing sandbagging efforts during the 2022 floods in northern MN. I housed dozens of volunteers on top of used my business equipment and crews to do everything I could to save people and their homes. I ended up loosing my business because of the time and money that I invested into that. I almost ended up in bankruptcy. FEMA released funds but I was told by the local politicians that I saved to many homes so I was not going to get any of the worker money. The city and county would have made more money if more houses would have been destroyed. They didn’t care about the people and the people didn’t end up caring about me.

Stan , you're right on all points ...... I do lots of things for my neighbors most of it brings gratitude, but it seems that occasionally there's that one or two people that insist on getting upset.

That judge was garbage and is one of the reasons that I hate living in Minnesota. I’ll be so happy when I can retire and move out of state. Her job is to be objective not punitive and give a fair day in court. She absolutely did not follow the law and she only followed punitive guidelines. Karma will give her what she deserves and so to that crappy neighbor.

The entire George Floyd incident was blown so far out of proportion it's amazing, if people watch the entire arrest video from the point before he finally got out of his car, it's pretty clear this guy was higher than a kite, and as the coroners report shows died of a fentanyl overdose, he was not murdered as the MSM want you to believe, also that evidence was proved to have been withheld along with the unedited arrest video by the local DA!, and because of this we had a summer of mayhem in America, The officer deemed responsible for Floyd's death was found guilty by the corrupt judiciary and he now is in prison, and we have statues of this so called victim, a nine time felon!, and his family given 25 million in compensation!, There needs to be accountability to this madness!, Those responsible need to suffer the consequences to the full extent of the law, The left continue to do these crimes and there is no accountability!, THIS HAS GOT TO CHANGE!

I had wacky neighbors at my previous house. Their teenage son was fighting or doing something in his room while his parents weren't home and he broke the window and cut himself up pretty good. I wrapped his arm up and taped the window up so bugs didn't get in. That doesn't have anything to with it but just odd stuff happened over there. They owned a cell phone store at the time. It was about 30 miles away and wanted it rekeyed. I told them I would send one of my guys. They just pay him his rate and I wouldn't make anything off of it. They asked me if they could pay for it when they got an insurance reimbursement. I told them I was givng them a break and I would have to pay him and wait for the money. I flat out told them I wasn't a bank. That pissed me off and I never sent anyone. Another time they had a broken sprinkler pipe so the husband called and asked how to fix it. I said sure I told him what to do and offered my tools and repair kit. He says "Oh I was hoping you would just do it". That never happened either. They finally moved. The wife had a clothing store and the place got busted for selling pot out of it. lol Two winners those two.

I live in MN. The political situation and legal system are forcing me to leave the state. The insanity going on here is frightening. I’ve given up. I love my country. I hate my government. Both sides.

I have to agree 100% @Stan .. After 23+ years in Law Enforcement.. I seen the writing on the wall quick. I’m SOOO glad to be out of it.. A career I loved with all my heart now turns my stomach to see what these men and women officers have to endure now days. At least here where I am in Southern KY, the laws are protecting the criminals more and more tying the hands of all officers. Hey Stanley. I've been watching your videos for over three years. I discovered your channel when I searched the definition of a term you explained in a video. I searched it because it came up in a question when I was practicing for the Law School Admissions Test. I have since then graduated from law school, though I have yet to take the bar and become licensed. I say all this because I know you're a smart man and because I might be able to provide some insight into some of the things you mentioned here. First of all, it really sucks that you were sued by your neighbor, but as you admit, you were wrong not to ask your neighbor. Private property carries with it some of the strongest and strictest protections under the law. What you described here is called treble damages and in most jurisdictions it's usually available when the defendant was especially reckless or caused some special irreparable harm. Imagine that you wanted your backyard to stay untouched. You wanted it to be overgrown with trees and weeds and whatnot because you liked everything to be "natural." One day, your neighbor decides he wants to help you out. He waits till you're gone and then crosses over to remove the weeds and trim your grass. He even goes the extra mile and gifts you some tools to tend to it yourself. Better yet, he even builds you a tool shed! He has "improved" your land and probably increased your property value. Still, you are furious that someone would do this to your land. They've ruined what it was for you. Not only that, but they trespassed on your land. Imagine even worse: instead of a shed, they built a 30-foot sculpture of Adolf Hitler. It's concrete and will be expensive to remove. Shouldn't you be able to sue them and recover for these damages to your land and your right to exclude? Absolutely. The actual damages part is intuitive, but the right to exclude is even more important. The right to exclude is the core of personal property rights, and it is damaged even if no physical harm is done. It is only worse when the land is left altered. Any change at all is damage, no matter how desirable it might seem. Whether you merely drank a beer on his side of the fence and hurt nothing, or built him a pool, or cut his grass, or spray painted a penis on the front door, when done without permission, all these activities violate the rights of your neighbor. The only thing that differs is how much you'll have to pay for what youve done. There's an old saying that anyone who represents themselves has a fool for a client. It's absolutely true. Even lawyers are bad at representing themselves. Get a lawyer! As for the GF documentary and trial bits, I think you again misunderstand what the law is and how it works. People are prone to bias-that bias makes us likely to interpret information in a way that fits our world view. Worse, it even makes us give weight to things that are not relevant, or weigh something heavily that should be a small consideration and vice versa. This is why we have rules of evidence. They are very strict and require sharp attention to logic. They counteract a lot of potential bias by not allowing it to occur in the first place. They also ensure that only reliable evidence may be considered. The rules of evidence are why your judge didn't want to see your video. Your video was likely not admissible on the grounds of hearsay and/or lack of relevance (evidentiary relevance has a precise meaning). Let's talk about the knee on neck technique. First of all, the manual said that an officer should move the person to a different position when they are able to, to prevent asphyxiation. But even if it didnt say that, it is not relevant to the case for murder. Imagine this: the manual says that police officers may commit murder in their discretion, and a police officer walks up to a random person on the side of the street and purposely shoots them in the head, killing them. Is the manual a defense to this murder? Does it matter whether a manual said what he could do, when considering whether a murder occurred? No! Of course not. It's murder. But the average juror would not run through all these considerations when deciding guilt. We're emotional and biased creatures who often act on feelings first and logic later. Most people would not realize that the hypothetical i just mentioned and the situation in the GF case are exactly the same in the ways that matter. The same is true in either case: the contents of the manual are not relevant to whether a murder occurred. Our justice system is extremely flawed. Every justice system that has ever existed is and probably always will be. But our justice system also has many brilliant solutions for many extremely complex problems. I'd encourage you and everyone to learn more about it when you can and consider the full picture before concluding a judge is "corrupt." The law is like an iceberg. Most people only see the surface and then scream corruption when it rips their ship in half.

thats when you go over the judge to the next level. and its just a judgement anyway. tell them to stick it.

Sadly because of what has happened in the last few years, I seldomly trust anyone. I really don’t trust the judicial system or any part of it that is paid by taxpayers. I refuse to help my neighbors because nobody can be trusted.

The Fall of Minneapolis is a great eye opening documentary. The body cam footage wasn't allowed for the jury to view which showed the police did everything with in the bounds of the law and the Minneapolis police training. The left was looking for a police officer to sacrifice for their political agenda for awhile and this situation was the one that finally worked for them.

I would spread the word to every contractor and neighbor in the state that you got sued for trying to help that neighbor. The next time they try to get some work done on their property, no one would be willing to help them as the would be afraid they would be sued. I hope this bites them in the but.

Well you shouldn’t do something to someone else’s property in general. However fence lines and adjoining properties are another story. If livestock is involved there is a mutual responsibility to maintain the fence Sounds like they should have said thank you But there is a phrase “God help me from well intentioned people “ But if someone’s mind set is to sue rather than come to an agreement then they are part of what’s wrong with society And judges are politicians. You should go take your three timbers back. I own a tree company third generation tree guy had a neighbor try and sew me for getting wood chips in his pool. The owner of the tree was talking the tree down because he complained about the tree so much was a beautiful oak tree. People are ridiculous.

Honestly me and my dad are thinking about doing a similar business and more research on Minnesota and it's kind of a joke all the way down the chain. Probably going to either move to Wisconsin or North Dakota to start out.

I did work for a neighbor and didn't get paid for the amount owed and even bartered, but not heard from him, my next plan is to pay up front before I begin the work to make it pay for the equipment and my time or get someone else to do it.

It may not be a popular opinion, but I think the judge ruled correctly. It seems like there was no contract for the work, and I wouldn’t necessarily want someone doing work without understanding their skills and credentials. However, whether or not it’s the neighborly thing is another debate.

I was helping a guy order material for his yard, I was giving him my contractor discount up front and just letting him order the material through me to save money. And when I asked If you wanted to get extra or if you'd rather run short and then go get more he said get extra. So he had two pallets left over and then he was mad at me because he had access material. Then I cut the wrong yard one time, and the lady got mad that I weeded in between her driveway cracks, we did the whole yard for free, We did the wrong property and she was upset.

I helped a neighbor once with snowblowing their driveway once only cause they didnt say thank u or nothing so since then they can do their own since they dont have enough respect to even say thanks i help out other ppl with stuff tho if they need it only thing where i am u cant sue for making stuff better u only can if someone messed something up on ur land
