This interview is so interesting to watch, but the more I see it, the more frustrated I get. Just let the man make his point! She's obviously trying to steer the conversation and it's even more obvious she's not listening to a lick of what he's saying. That's why I always crack up when he brings up that she's successful in her career because she's willing to make him uncomfortable.

Interview happened in 2018. The power of podcasts , long formats interviews on KZfaq etc. was just starting to reveal its powerful potential. For example Joe Rogan who started his podcast in 2009 did not become a viewership and revenue earning Goliath until 2018. In 2018 this interview was an example of a powerful media celebrity who was working for a Government founded media empire trying to "destroy" anyone offering ideas opposed to their own Post Modern Views. Cathy Newman invited a mostly unknown Canadian Professor who offered alternate opinions to many post modern, extreme feminists and socialist ideas he felt modern society was claiming as truths and spreading through the Legacy Media without opposition or debate. DR Peterson had a best selling book ( 12 rules for Life) that men throughout the world were embracing and his willingness to go into hostile territory and discuss issues made him an enticing target for Cathy Newman. As always investigate do your research and ask questions , and make your own decisions.

Cathy Newman made a total arse of herself in this interview. Playing the typical extreme feminist card. Trying to put words in his mouth. How many times did she say, "So, you're saying..." He's too swift and intelligent for her, not like her weak, passive, childish house hubby. Dr. Peterson is one of the most articulate, thought-provoking individuals. Nice one, Jay! Glad that dude suggested some JP! Always enjoy your music reactions, so this was a nice surprise. You'll really enjoy this guy's stuff. Really anything with him is good; just make sure you don't do those chopped up vids. They leave a lot of good stuff out. To give you a little background on the man: He is a Canadian professor and clinical psychologist. The Canadian government was trying to pass a bill called Bill C-16 (you can find a lot of vids of JP regarding this bill). The bill was an infringement on free speech, and said that one would HAVE to use someone's preferred gender pronouns or face punishment. The university he taught at, at the time, supported this bill. JP gained a lot of public attention for his opposition to that bill, and from his KZfaq lectures. Since then, he's become a best-selling author and tours the world speaking, doing Q+As and interviews with basically anybody. This Kathy Newman interview blew him up big time too; she's a big name in the UK. He's been on Rogan a couple of times; those are some really great interviews, and for an entirely different reason. Also had some great ones with Theo Von, Russell Brand, Matthew McConaughey, and a lot of other notable figures from every walk of life. He's done some great talks at Cambridge and other esteemed universities. Been all over really. lol Speaking personally, I've learned a lot from JP, especially in how to debate folks. He's got a great way of just cutting to the truth of the matter. He's not a political figure, at all really, but there's been a big political response to him from one side of the aisle that really helped him gain attention. So it's interesting to see how it plays out: fact vs. ideology. As you noticed here, he approaches topics from a psychological and stat/fact-based perspective, and people in the media always try to frame his argument as something it's not to try and defeat it (case in point: the "so you're saying" bit lol). Which never really ends well for them. But hey, it's fun to watch! 😆 Great to see your perspective on this; you just get it. Looking forward to the next one man!

I hate when people put words in people's mouths like they assume something that you didn't even say . It's like she is trying to twist his words around. She needs to listen and stop assuming. She should stop saying "so what you're saying is ." And then accuse him of saying something he didn't say . She doesn't understand that changes take time. Sometimes it takes a few generations to see if certain policies will be beneficial or not. And she expects results like yesterday. That's exactly what I said she's not listening. While I was typing just heard him tell her that.

20:46 Another significant difference between men and women… Kathy just demonstrated that women, generally speaking, are “group thinkers”; she says “I might as well go and play with my ‘Cindy Dolls’, because…I’m not going to get the top job…” There’s a more substantial group of men, relative to women, that will use that as fuel to prove them wrong. Someone tells me I can’t do something, I’m going to dedicate my life to proving them wrong. Women are far less likely to dedicate their lives to prove someone else wrong about the direction of their lives.

It’s actually a horrible interview, but Indicative of how the left attacks. She was not interested in hearing his rationale, only to drive home her own points and talk over him and shout him down. If she were truly searching for answers, she would’ve done far more listening and a hell of a lot less rambling. Jordan Peterson is one of the brightest minds and although the truths he speaks of can be uncomfortable, they are backed up with indisputable clinical evidence. Dealing with those truth head on is what would help us understand each other better and bring us together. That’s not good business for some.

*radical* left, Peterson always specifies. He considerers himself leaning on the left on many issues, but abhors the irrational agenda of the more extreme and loud leftists. Simply, he is a rational man who detest bias from any side, and both side has demonstrated their capacity to exaggerate and twist to fit their narrative.

But he did say that he consider himself leaning on the left. Free speech is a liberal value that he fight for a lot. Anyway position is very subjective on the spectrum: To various degree, leftists tends to consider middle ground as right, and rightists tend to consider the same as left, because we all tend to consider ourselves as the reference rather than the extreme, and the relative middle is always compromising, conceding partly to the opposition. So what you state as clearly is not so clear to me.

Life is hard whether you're a man or a woman. Becoming successful requires a lot of commitment, energy, and sacrifices. Some (of both sexes) are prepared to do it and some aren't. The gender pay gap only exists because of life choices such as having children or going into college/uni rather than starting the ladder of the workforce. That's why we don't have a lot of female bricklayers or coal miners and why we don't have a lot of male beauticians. Free choice means there will always be a disparity of nobody's fault - you will always be comparing apples with oranges because each individual's circumstance is different...

Some people do expect unrealistic results unfortunately. What can you do at that point. It's like looking for someone and saying, can someone please help this person.

Let's be clear. In most western nations the pay gap exists only in aggregate as averages. This is primarily due to a few hundred men being millionaire CEO's. 99.9% of anyone in any profession is paid IDENTICALLY or on a band that operates fairly. The pay gap exists because of a few hundred elites, but a lot of feminists make the claim it is across the entire country. It isn't. In fact, because women are now going to college more than men, women 19-35 are now paid MORE than men that age due to that education difference. But the old millionaires still exist so they use an entire aggregate to generate that gap still. There are many reasons for gaps and it really isn't based much on gender.

JP is an extremely intelligent man who can manage to stay calm in some pretty intense situations against crazy people. The people who claim negative things about him the majority of them have never actually listened to him.

This lady is thiiiiick. It's pretty obvious, in his words, that intelligence and conscientiousness are universal traits, but agreeableness is a uniquely feminine trait. "Are you saying women are less intelligent than men?" Certainly not...well, perhaps in your case... Also, I love his answer, but people do not have a right to not be offended. Am I crazy here?

What's crazy is the woman who did the interview and the producer thought they had won this debate. They edited down the interview and released it, and it got a huge backlash. They thought the reason for the backlash was the edited version was taking things out of context, so they released the entire interview.
