@@maciejbala477 It's not just the terrain. They made bunkers and hid anti-air everywhere in those mountains. They even placed explosives on all of their bridge to be ready to blow them up so that their enemies couldn't use them. Realistically, Switzerland should literally start the game at least with level 2 AA and level 4 forts in every tile. I understand why they don't mind you but they still kind of should.

The Perkonkrusts were a curious bunch. They believed that Latvians were the master race being besieged on both sides by "inferior" Germans and Slavs. Even during the war when members became partisan fighters for the Axis they continued publishing an anti-german newspaper which resulted in the Germans sending their own allies against the Soviets to the camps.

fun fact: the civil war is a good thing since you can join the axis and then do the thunder roars alone. getting those sweet sweet buffs while being best friends with the germens, you can also do the baltic entene later if you don't click the decision since you keep the decision when you do the focus, letting you re-anix your puppet after getting those insane democratic buffs before you backstab the germines

@@StandbyRanger I usually rush down the thunder strikes focus to quickly conquer the Baltics and unify them, I grab all adults serve during wartime because, if Im not mistaken, fascist nations can only get the extensive conscription while at peace. Then I rush the industry focuses till somewhere around early-mid'ish 39 then start building forts. I make a bunch of 2 batallion garrisons for the sea border and make level 1 sea forts on the coast,then spam the rest of my available manpower to make regular infantry. While building forts I do the dievturība focuses to gain the sweet organisation and defense/attack bonuses, because theres no pint in having them before the Soviets invade. Also, if time allows it, I usually build a supply hub or two on the border. If Im lucky, the soviets invade somewhere in 1940, if Im not, they can invade shortly after the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact, by then I have atleast one 2 batallion division on each coastal province with one sea fort each, and I have 500-600k manpower on the border with lvl3-4 forts and all motorised supply. I used to rush airplanes because in older versions the Soviets wouldnt attack the baltic airspace if there were atleast 500 planes there, so no cas and supply damage, but Im not sure if that works anymore so I usually just focus everything on the ground army, spamming out as many guns as I can. Then its a matter of microing a defense till Barbarossa launches, and then you kill the Soviets with German help. Alternatively you can skip the industry focuses in favor for eliminating Democratic opposition and getting the British guarantee, meaning youll be able to join the allies as Fascist Latvia, but they will likely send no troops as they have to send all of their army to die in Greece.

@@StandbyRanger in my experience, the Soviets tend to leave alot of the frontline weakly defenced. One time they invaded me before they got the eastern Polish lands, meaning when they got it, I was able to quickly move in to the river that is south of Vilnus and make a pretty tough defensive line, and gain extra manpower for garrisons. So basically, if the Soviets attack before the Germans defeat Poland, its free real estate, if they attack just after aquiring eastern Poland, its quite bad, but still managable, and if they attack post 1940, then youre pretty well set to defenc till Barbarossa and maybe even grab the supply hub in Pskov. Just make sure to spam atleast 500k in divisions and micro defend, take troops out of green bubble battles and send them to red bubble ones, last stand in some places and youll survive.

its crazy how different the first hearts of iron games are compared to the 4th...the first three are all pretty similar and playing a small nation like latvia is a total waste of time but in the 4th its just bonkers lol...just imagine the first 3 are all gentlemen acting normal but the 4th is a mental asylum patient with skizo running around in their pajamas at the party...
