In today’s video I made some changes to the Turbine RAW 700 and wow! It’s like a whole different heli. Has power for days and really stays in the power band. Never seen it before so well.

Oh my goodness! What a beautiful machine Jeff and those changes have made a whole world of difference. Finding it hard not to have a 'think' about putting one in the genesis!

think i would be scared to fly it...think you would need to be pretty expert in inverted autorotations and the like as i am guessing the thing is very expensive and you need to be prepared for engine failure at any stage or even running out of fuel.....can you imagine smashing up the turbine and frame .......well done and great flying.

My goal is just to promote the hobby. I enjoy every brand of helicopter regardless on who makes them! I just enjoy building and flying and doing new things lol this combination is absolutely awesome.

The climbing throttle make me wonder if you might have an issue with your Integral Gain on the governor (assuming the governor has a PID control loop). The thought is that the 3D flying is loading the turbine so much, it is mostly too low of an RPM and the integral value keeps climbing to compensate. Then, when you unload the turbine (stop flying 3D), the integral is now over compensating and giving you too high of RPMs. If I am right, increasing the I gain should help by needing less integral accumulation to result in higher RPMs (making it faster to respond). The problem with raising it too much as higher I gain makes the PID control loop more unstable so be careful when adjusting it.

@@bitogre the I gain could be a little to high. I still need to tune and play with more of the governor. I didn’t keep tuning as after this flight I put a three blade head and tail so I know it will need to be all redone. But now I’ll fine tune it and get it as close as I can.

Thank you! Yes, there is a clutch stack like a regular Nitro helicopter, but the turbine itself spends a secondary compressor wheel, which is what spins the gearbox shaft

Interesting. I would've thought a turbine wouldn't work in a heli because of throttle lag. How does throttle respond so well (for a turbine)? I can hear it lagging some, but it sure doesn't LOOK like it's lagging.

@@nutz4media so using a throttle curve you are holding the throttle at 80%-90% flat throttle the whole time. The governor will make up for the +/- 10-15% needed for RPM I ask for. So that’s where you hear the engine RPM go up/down.

great machine,i personally dont get its use.throw a scale fuse on it,with that awesome sound would be great. the have waymore capable 3d heli`s. yes you have pushed it further than many turines in a heli but it will always be a jack of all trades but master of none.

@@garymurphy5133 this hell was built just because. Number one you don’t see a lot of turbines doing any kind of actual 3-D. You don’t see people finding them more than just in circles and it’s not gonna get put in a scale body, might build a new scale turbine but this one will stay a 3D turbine.
