Hahaha, stumbled upn you 2 vlogs on Sri Lanka. So fun. Im from Sweden and have a house there, but couldnt visit for 5 yrs since all crap happened, you know. Coming summer Im going to go there and do my lifes journey. About transports, ask how much per km. Then calc from that. If they tell wrong, just laugh it off and go on, not the same stretch or street. All same roadside has same bs. Where you are now, its better off center of the city. You're doing good pal. Keep on going, and sharing. :)

The cookie looks like Masala Vadai, fried ground dhal or split mung beans. It can be tasty but you have to expect the taste to be like it is, savory not sweet, to enjoy it.

#3 train rides - I have had 3 in my life time. First was when I was 6 or 8, some where in there, so 70 plus years ago. I can only remember stepping on to the train from Edmonds to Seattle, Wash. Then the next two were to Chicago and back, 3 days each way. This was about 1984. Had an interesting return with an entitled old Bas--d, Wife and I were seated on the lower section of a double decker car. Signs said NO SMOKING, so an old guy was seated behind us smoking, seated right under a no smoking sign. I look at him and said you can't smoke here. He just looks away. I go out and find a lady steward, she comes back and says " you can't smoke here " ok, I will go out between the cars. Early AM, I wake up to smoke, I look over the seat - the AH was smoking again. I go find the lady and she says sir, you will stop smoking or the next stop YOU will be put off the train. He finally goes to the upper deck to a smoking section for the rest of the trip, but he lost his window seat. Every time I passed him I would give a little wave. Smokers are totally inconsiderate of other folks. ( most, not all )

@@marcoroams As an Australian yourself, you could have purchased a 1st class train ticket to Kandy from Colombo, and booked a Colombo-Kandy Intercity Express train ride with an Airconditioned Train Compartment instead, without having a need to complain or make any of the viewers of this video complain about the train service in Sri Lanka. Ultimately the service for the train ride depends on the amount one pays for the ticket in Sri Lanka i.e. 3rd Class Ticket vs 2nd Class Ticket vs 1st Class Ticket for a train ride in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan Tourist Authorities promote Luxury Train services for Foreign Tourists, so why not pay a little bit extra and enjoy the train ride from Colombo to Kandy with some comfort and get a reserved seat on the train , instead of travelling on the 3rd Class Train Carriage in a crowded setting? Even Australian Citizens who have Sri Lankan Ancestry, who visit Sri Lanka on vacation likes to pay a bit extra and travel on a 1st Class train Compartment/Carriage that has an Airconditioned area with more luxury and comfort.

Nope! Riding that train would be ok in 1st class but what a shit show in the cheap cars. You faced the camera down the aisle to look for food and it looked like hundreds of eyes on you and every one looked angry! LMAO I just couldn't deal with that many people crammed in there...make me think the smell would be terrible! You should have tossed them shitty cookies to the monkeys just to see if they would eat them! Great video!

Those people must be going to work or coming back from work...they're not angry they look tired... These days the mental condition of people in Sri lanka is not good at all...Because of the economic crisis... And those are not cookies..he expected them to be sweet...but wade is not a sweet snack it's made out of dhal...you can't tell its taste just by looking at it with your eyes...And monkeys don't eat wade..They eat fruits and other foods of their choice...

#5 the train trip was a "trip" all by itself. Reminded me of my first trip to the PH. Stopped in Manila for two weeks to visit my wife's brother and then got on a huge cargo ship to Cebu. We had the cheap seats, bottom of the ship with hundreds of bunks, ( thanks to cheap mom in law ) who didn't want us to spend about $4. Less than 3rd class was you found a spot on the deck on top and hoped for no rain.
