I have a 300k mile XJ with a 4.0. If you don't change the oil and replace the additives, you will leave the waste oil to coke up under the heat. Happens in every engine. The 4 & 6 cylinders already have problems with the camshaft bearings.. I add ZDDP and my XJ will climb a hill in any gear.

sure I really belive you and have not had any problems and I run my car on water instead of gas . lol

Never seen anyone flip the oil filter seal...but why not!
@yodersgarage6 ай бұрын
To be honest, that's the first time I've done that or even thought about it. Everyone says to oil one side, so you might as well do both if you can!

You wouldn't see metal fragments in the oil, you need to send it off to have it tested in a lab.
@yodersgarage6 ай бұрын
That was mainly to ensure there wasn't significant material in there. I've had "glittery" oil on past vehicles that was a very obvious indication of bearing issues.

@@yodersgarage I hear you, bearing shaving can show up in oil. A good trick is to use a magnet and let it do the work for you.

By adding Lucas, you are diluting the additives in the oil. I suggest you buy the High Mileage Mobil 1. And change your oil and filter every 5,000 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first. If you need a thicker oil, buy a heavier weight oil.

All sound advice, but this isn't a daily driver, and often sits for weeks on end. The main reason I use Lucas is to maintain the lubrication when it sits for a while.

@@yodersgarage All the more reason to change the oil and filter every 6 months. If you can stand one more piece of unsolicited advice, drive it once a week.

LOL. Nope... To all of it.

Lucas is snake oil. If you have known engine noise, I'd use it to get home. That's it.
@markstrickland87366 ай бұрын
@@scotteric8711 Oil companies engineer motor oil for specific purposes through the additives they put in. Starting with a high quality base oil, they design the end product for your engine. If a Lucas additive was that great, they would put it in their oil.

i never change the oil,,, I just keep adding more...lol
@yodersgarage6 ай бұрын
Haha, I actually knew someone years ago that did just that, and had no idea it actually needed to be changed. Needless to say, that car died a slow death.

Why are you bragging you haven't changed the oil on a high mileage Jeep in over 2.5 years? So why would I watch or take any advice from Yoders Garage?!?!?! Sorry, but NO THANKS...
@ChuddleBuggy6 ай бұрын
He says the oil just has 2k miles on it, so he means not changed 2.5 years of being parked.
