Haiden Deegan had one of the most incredible rookie seasons in memory, culminating in the inaugural SMX Playoff Champion just a few weeks again at the iconic LA Coliseum. We managed to organise a quick sit down with Haiden and Brian Deegan in the aftermath of the historic win in the original Mulisha Compound in Temecula's wine country.

I agree too, however, i think people were talking theorhetically sort of about Jett. Moreso like its Haiden and Jett who are the future. Thing is, i think Hunter is as good or maybe better in supercross than Jett. In motocross Jett is on another level though. Haiden rides with so much intensity, he is going to have to smooth some of that out and know when to raise the intesity.

My fantasy. Is huckson taking a real interest in Moto, and being able to be a pro, and you’d have the deegans vs the Lawrence’s. That would create so many headlines, sound bites, and clicks. But, I think Haiden will be more than enough, the kid is witty and has some quick off the tongue comments. That’s a talent

250 class was Hunter vs Haiden all through the outdoors and halfway into SX, everyone was watching and waiting. Then SMX it kind of flipped to Haiden vs Shimoda. Which works because they will be battling next year. Maybe not SX but they will be the guys. That rivalry sells the sport, gets people interested. Jett beating everyone every week no one wants to see that. Jett SX 250 Run with RJ and Nate was good though.

@@chrisbuehler6868 I'm not talking about pro debut, Haiden was also sixteen when he made his, I'm talking about their rookie season which is the year after. your second point is a good point tbf but riding an 85 at 14 isn't sandbagging. Plus Jett was 18 when he won his first title. You could also argue Haiden had less time on a 250. Haiden spent only a year on a 250, skipping the A class before he went pro. Something to think about

Huge respect to all. I like haidens comment, let's not compare technical abilities. Its true we all have our individual styles. Haidens is a fresh approach. Not something I've seen in a usa rider for a long time. Style can be sometimes classed as character. Question to haiden, "what is his style"? E.g. herlings for me symbolises an ethos of grit and determination.

Just like Hunter said before... Haiden talking shit is all his dad knowing there's a market for creating rivalry to make people buy into it. "America vs. Australia" "Lawrence vs. Deegan"... Brian is a douche bag but he knows how to sell to people

He knows how to sell to sheep, and there’s plenty out there to pay the bills. 😁

I have really grown to dislike hunter. He just seems so cocky and takes jabs at riders for example at the coliseum pre race press conference he was saying 4 should be retired right in front of chase even though he definitely knew chase took it. And all the jabs he took at haiden. I used to be a fan but it seems he’s shown his true colors

None of that happened. Hunter doesn’t talk shit clown, go back and watch the podium speeches, he only ever retaliated to Deegan. You don’t line him, cool I’m sure he doesn’t give a fuck

Hunter "Steady Eddie" Lawrence won the 250 SX and MX Championships with his mental preparation. Let's be clear, Haiden "Nature Boy" Deegan never beat Hunter. The only times Haiden beat Hunter was if Hunter was riding with injury or if he let Haiden win. Haiden is very close, but he isn't within 10% of Hunter. 2024 will be a great year with Haiden, Jo "Chop Suey" Shimoda and Levi "Pastry Boy"Kitchen. I predict a Championship with Jo Shimoda !
