Why is everyone doing these insanely rotational transitions? Where in the world do you see a good commercial with this amount of motion sickness?

Sushi was dope, but holy motion sickness on all the rotating shots in it.

All these shots are overkill, so much that it becomes a headache.

Okay I mean all of them were awesome, but in my opinion that's a perfect example of an absolute overuse of transitions..

I'm just wondering how on earth that sushi and cabin tour video got more votes than the glasses video.

I would go with B, the others just don’t show the purpose of “sushi” much.

I prefer version B but, in general, there are too many transitions that overshadow the theme of the video. I think a creative artist should always keep in mind that "Sometimes, less is more".

Does anyone else get really dizzy watching these type of videos? It almost feels like it's more about "creative transitions" than having tasteful transitions that make sense with the content.

B was definitely the best, the transitions were nice, I liked the concept of showing the finished sushi before and then showing how to make it and then going to dip it in soy sauce at the end with sticks and the soundtrack matched it. Loved it.

I feel like I got motion sickness from the unnecessary transitions. Sure, the sushi b-roll was “creative”, but I feel like the transitions weren’t tasteful in the slightest. Glasses should’ve won. The way it told a story was like magic.

The glasses video is actually telling a story, the rest is all style and minimal substance. These are great videos and I love the explanations, but dont jump for the glitzy cuts, jump for the ones that have a backbone.

I guess I'm the only one who feels like these transitions are becoming a little too much. Edit 2: I guess me and 9.2k other people feel the same way. Who would have thought... Edit 3: Who would have thought so many people (13K) felt the same way. I said in earlier comments I work on commercials with big companies and I've never seen this type of edit or shooting before, but that's not to say it can't be done or hasn't already been done.

A is easily my favorite! The sushi layering transitions weren't as rapid fire & gave me more time to appreciate each shot, and the final knife to sushi roll transition really got me 🤙

Editor C because it was really unique to me and since there wasn’t any pole I had to comment.

As someone who’s not familiar in video editing I think B has the greatest impact on me. The sushi was presented upfront, keeping me interested to see what’s next, different type of transitions that fits in place, the pacing is just right, the music. A was too repetitive and it doesn’t catch my attention because he/she used very similar transitions every couple of seconds for each ingredient. The footage also somehow seem more bland. C was unique but too stylized for me personally, it gets me dizzy at some point lol.

Personally,I think the second one actual felt like he was actually telling a story of how sushi is made. he kept it simple rather than adding extra transitions. The b-roll should be simple and should primarily make sure it conveys the message.

C was really did a good job, it's just like when you watch his/her edit it was a fantastic like a real commercial on the T.V!! i was so impressed👏

To sum up what everyone in the comments is saying: Glasses should've won because it had a solid direction and very few transitions that were all smooth and slow enough to not give you a headache. (In my opinion cabin crew tour was pretty cool too cause of the unique perspective) Editor B was the best because holy hell do the other ones make you dizzy

These edits are all ego showing off rather than marketing a product. I can’t even process what I’m seeing. The glasses one was superb though. Tasteful but purpose.

I loved the glasses commercial. The sound editing was great too. I love cool transitions but I'm not that much of a fan of fast transitions. I tend to get confused a lot. That's why I liked B's video of the sushi commercial. The normal pace of the video at first slowly transitioning to a little faster pace was just right to me. C's commercial wasn't bad but I felt like the text was unnecessary.

B" is the best so far. And second, i would prefer "a". I would choose "c" but it was rather creepy ￣へ￣

I'm really glad to see other comments reiterating what I was thinking. I preferred edit B because it was slower and I got a chance to see what was going on more. The other two just made me feel sick.

Creatives often forget that "Less is always more" B was the best for me, since it really made the sushi appetizing to the viewers A had lesser impact. C focuses more on aesthetics and modern trap/hiphop music; I began thinking about the "Kinjaz" dance group while watching it. I think this editing style would've suited more it it were made for a clothing/music/dancing brand. However, if the sushi places' theme had a twist of a modern vibe -- steering away from the traditional elegance of Japanese cuisine, C would be a great choice. (Minus the overdone transition) Overall, I think the videos were mediocre?? I personally think that transitions should be a 'complementary' factor to the video that would aid the focus of the viewers onto the main product. However, instead of being able to focus on what the advertisement was marketing, I was more drawn to the effects itself. It is cool, but I'm here to watch an AD not a video tutorial on how to make B rolls.

He just made us watch 8 and a half minutes of sushi ads. Now that is what I call big brain marketing (even tho this probably isn’t even a shop or something)

It should be all about the food and not the camera.movement and editing. Real food commercial focus on the appetite appeal and quality. The message must be conveyed without being distracted by the camera movement and transitions. Although it looks cool in a way but it makes some viewers dizzy.

B was my favourite and I enjoyed his edit in the previous video as well.

I like the A Editor, good music and he used another footage of my, that I don't used. and he made the transition with the hand that I had thought before . he saw my footage and just know what I wanted to do. good EYES!!! (only don't like the transition plugins to swipe to the next scene). Editor B was smooth, slowly and a good mixed of all, like the sound and music too, but the "zoom transition plugin wasn't needed here". .I was thinking, I am fast , but C was faster, but still good edit, C wasn't "Daniel Schiffer Style" my opinion. but all of them really Creative.

I feel like B's ad was simple yet one of the best but it's music just somehow made me feel uneasy, probably cause of the whispering bg voice-

As most people are saying here, the editors went way over the top with the transitions which honestly takes away from the vibe therefore Editor B takes it imo. Much smoother take.

One of the things that is so good about B is that there are a bit of slow-motions between transition, allowing audience more time to see each ingredients and what is happening is each scene.

*Unpopular opinion:* I think the fast transition era is almost at the end, I think now that even Cinematic travel vloggers (kold, Jr Ali etc), who i think "*dare i say*" are the pioneers of fast transitions have moved away from this style of content to story driven content or atleast limited it greatly. I actually think with the introduction with prosumer cinema cams, (Blackmagic, Z-cam, and the Red coming soon) has heavily influenced the step away from the "Videography" style of content to traditional styles of cinematography and editing. I see this when friends go from using Sony's and other video cams to Cine Cams. Great work to everyone though! Some real Skill in editing here 💜💜💜

The 100$ guy from Pizza Commerial was my favourite in Pizza Commercial. B guy was my favourite here. No wonder the the same guy. In both the videos, the fulfilled the purpose of a commercial which is to highlight the food. Also, he made the cleanest edits with good music in both the videos.

The sushi commercial was GREAT but I got dizzy😭
