Jeep Cherokee Part 3 of Remove, Protect, Replace series!! This time I'm installing Siless Noise Insulation, Vibration Dampening and Thermal Shield. If you're thinking of doing this project I highly recommend it! It was very easy to do and didn't take very long to complete. Thanks for watching as always hit that Subscribe button and drop a comment!!

I'm a fan of Raptor liner as well. Going to do the entire exterior of my 01 XJ with it. Pulling my carpet out and doing the floors right after that. Pretty much the same way you did. Good video.

Always great to see people making quality of life improvements to their XJ. Just did Herculiner, Kilmat decoupled with Siless foam insulation. Ceiling is one area besides the doors and back quarters to do.

Hey glad this video helped!! Thanks for watching!! I can't really speak for the sound to much because with all my gear back in thats what I hear moving around. But the heat radiating up from floor and trans tunnel is gone. The matting along with the mass backed carpet really helped out.

If you can, take a dB reading close to the floor now that it's done. Mine reads around 78-80 dB at 75 mph, completely stock.

I used POR15 on the floors and then the fatmaxed the entire interior - it is pretty quite.

Maybe this project isn’t as bad as I was thinking and the doors would probably be the worst part. I’m doing a decent sound system and I’m considering doing deadening

Should do your doors as well!

I've thought of doing everything but really my main focus is on stopping the heat from coming up from the floors. Maybe someday on the doors and roof but for now I'm happy. Thanks for watching & commenting!!

how was the reduction in noise and heat?
@nextweeksadventure
@nextweeksadventure 29 күн бұрын
@@MrClembm by only doing the floor the noise was minor. Dont get me wrong it was noticeable but nothing drastic. The heat was cut down quite considerably. I think the combination of heat mat and the carpet with the backing on it was a good choice. Looking back I might have actually put more on the trans tunnel but it definitely helped. But the largest reduction in heat in the trans tunnel surprisingly was the hood spacers (recent video) Im actually blown away at how it has done! Still not a fan of the look.

Thanks for the video!! I'm considering doing it too, but my carpet is in perfect condition, do you think it would be possible to take out and reuse the carpet? I saw you cutting out the old carpet. Thanks so much
@nextweeksadventure

Yes if you take your time I'm sure the carpet can come out and be reused. Some areas might be glued down be careful. I cut mine out because it was trash, smelled and I had new carpet coming. Thanks for watching. Check out some other videos if your needing ideas!

Apologies if you said in the videos at all but curious if you know or can estimate how much extra weight this might have added to the Jeep? Wanting to do this when I re-do my carpet/do my heater core since the interior will be out. But man, so much weight already when I'm loaded up for a camp trip lol
@nextweeksadventure
@nextweeksadventure Жыл бұрын
Trust me when I say this wont make any difference compared to the amount of crap I pack. With the insane amount of gear the roof top tent and extra crap this is nothing. All this is maybe 10lbs at the most.

@@nextweeksadventure Oh ok wow, that is far less than I anticipated. I bought a Subaru that had been lined with "Rattletrap" brand sound deadner and when I went to swap trunk lids I quickly found that it doubled the weight of a stock trunk lid lol. How did it do in regards to muffling road noise? That's kind of my main goal with putting some of this kinda stuff in honestly. Also really appreciate the quick reply!!
@nextweeksadventure
@nextweeksadventure Жыл бұрын
@@highroller4010 I only did the floor raptor first then layed the heat/sound dediner. The carpet has a heat/sound pad on it also. It helped cut a good amount of heat transfer which was what I was mostly looking for along with helping extend the life by protecting from rust. As for road noise its hard to say. I've got a lot of stuff packed in so thats mostly what I hear rattling around. If I had done the entire jeep "doors, roof" maybe it would cut more sound but wind noise can also come from poor door seals. I'm very happy with it still.

@@nextweeksadventure roger that, appreciate the feedback. I'll see how gung ho I am about attempting it along with all the other work when the time comes, likely this coming winter. Although I've been saying that for a number of years now and somehow my heater core has held on LOL. Did you happen to anchor your storage drawers in the rear cargo to the floor at all?
@nextweeksadventure
@nextweeksadventure Жыл бұрын
@@highroller4010 nope the rear system is just held by weight. All I added was 2 small master locks on each side that clip into the original little anchor hoops on the floor close to the hatch.
