Alright everyone!! Exciting news! I just bought a 1955 Porsche Pre A Speedster that’s been sitting in a barn since 1955. This is the real deal, matching engine, matching transmission, with Kardex.

Cardex is not bill of sale, but the Porsche build sheet. Pre-a's did have deluxe bumpers, optional, called American bumpers. I worked for Porsche factory and a dealership in Germany 64 - 67. Dealership 's in the U.S. for 20 + years. Owned 7 speedster's + 44 other 356's. My 56 speedster bought in 1970 from original owner with factory hardtop $500.00. Good luck with yours.

All numbers matching the kardex and my heart even skipped a beat when I looked at the "service booklet serial number" on the kardex and even that matched. PS. I doubt it's been sitting in a barn since new (according to your description of the video) especially if it was repainted and has 47k miles....unless those miles were all added the first year??)

@@TireKickers-RossCameron Yeah I thought I saw that car in one of your vids. Mine was white as well.. Quick tip for you. If you take some old school 8" Oldsmobile or GM wheels you can weld the stock Porsche wheel centers onto the 8" wheels and offset to fit 60 series tires under the wheel wells. It makes the car look gangster w/o having to butcher anything... greatly improves drivability as well..

This is a great purchase, a great asset to hold and love those numbers matching, it is a great find. I had something similar happen to me not is this high altitude. Mine was 3k for a numbers matching 1968 Firebird 350 H.O. four speed, 3.23 posi, with the VIN's stamped on top off the Muncie transmission as well as on the block, body and Title. They guy did not know what he had sold but when I went to pick it up things got interesting as one of his employees knew what the cars was and told him. And that guy had stole the heads, intake and carb off it so it took me over 6 years to find the right numbers matching parts and now it is almost ready to put together and start up for the first time since the 1980's. I documented the whole deal and I knew the way that employee was acting so after I got the Bird on a trailer and pulled it out into the parking lot I crawled under the car and saw that Muncie and also the Dual exhaust hangers which were original factory so that told me it was something different and it could be special. So then I went straight to a car wash where I popped the hood and started looking deeper and I remember telling myself I got a special Bird. It wasn't until about 4 days or more that I finally got the VIN numbers coded, so then I had to wait for the Title and those numbers needed to match lol. Yes, I still own this jewel though it is not a 300k car the find is what was so exciting as now I have another '68 Bird that I made my custom car with my very own built motor and custom '65 Bonneville front grill, a '68 Camaro Rally sport valance and a few other neat parts and with that grill and nose piece from a '65 Bonneville people freak out on it as the headlights are hidden it is a really cool car. I have been thinking about making it a Madmax style ride lately as it already has 17"BMW rims with 275x 60 rears tires so it sits up nice with a cool rake but I may make it a little more rad into the Madmax theme with side pipes. Love the sound of side pipes and they have that look of just badass to me. Great Deal Ross, super cool to see you hit it and you are right about driving them they are very unique rides, very low to the ground so everything is like a go-cart ride, fast and quick steering, very light cars too, just do not like that fact that they will not smoke the tires lol.
@TireKickers-RossCameron3 жыл бұрын
thank you! I hear you on the trying to put something bacj together that's not matching, that's tough
@joabtrust3 жыл бұрын
@@TireKickers-RossCameron Are you referring to my custom Firebird, in that I put a 1965 Bonneville grill in it? Honestly it fit so well that it freaks people out when they see it, they do not know what type of car it is sometimes or they will say where did you get that front-end? Being an artist I searched for the right grill that I knew would line up and I naturally started with old Ponitacs. Even the nose piece alignment to the original hood matches great. The underside of the nose (chin area) where it meets the valance is the only place I had to modify and since it is under everything else nobody can see it. What took so long was finding those H.O. Heads, '68 350 H.O. heads were #18 castings which were only made in 1968 lol. In '69 they changed the casting number to #48's and then they made a very limited run of #48's with smaller combustion chambers as the 400 H.O. motors needed larger chambers. So I found a nice set of small early dated #48's after years of searching everywhere online and locally. I paid 3/4 of the price I had in the whole car just for those heads lol, but they had the oil shields and the screw-in studs and they came with the original head bolts. Then it was on to the Intake and carb which are off an 400 or H.O automatic and my Bird is a manual but it is fine b/c I will sell this rare Bird, not into those matching numbers anymore in-fact I am not even into hot rods like I used to be. I am Bus hunting now, I want an older silver eagle or WanderLodge, we want to have a mobile home to wait-out this insanity then maybe buy country land.

Very cool video and awesome 356 Speedster. Like you I also love the Blue color better than White. The interesting thing with the 55/56 discussion and the bumpers is that ( if I heard correct) your Speedster was produced in september or october in 1955. Normally ( as is with the 911’s) the cars produced at Porsche after the summer holidays are next years models. To make it more confusing, Porsche mixes bodies and parts untill they run out. So it Could be possible you have the pre A body ( check dashboard detail) combineert with the already in stock new T1 bumpers that they where gonna use for the 56 model year ( which they start producing after the summer brake in 1955). Make’s it interesting doesn’t it. Since you have a pre A body you have a pre A car. Built year clearly 1955, model year could be 1956 since it was produced with the new style bumpers and after the summer in 1955. Probably they had pre A bodies left, and at Porsche. They use what they have in stock before omving to the new bits. ( this happend with the first 911’s built in 1964/1965. The details changed on the cars when they run out of old parts, not by changing to a new model year. That Speedster from your friend was produced 100 cars earlier than your’s you mention in the end. Was that stated as a 56 modelyear car? Does he has the same dash as yours? Al fun and interesting things. Regards from the Netherlands. Joost Hermes
