I cannot believe that I just brought my dream car. The 2001 Volkswagen New Beetle.
This has been a dream of mine for 22 years now, and it's finally happened, I caught the bug. Its enough to make me green with envy.
Enjoy my review of my Volkswagen New Beetle.

Hearing the excitement in your voice fills me with so much joy. It's in pretty good condition for its age too. '98-'11 Beetles have always been my favorite design of all of them. Congrats on scoring such a cute find! The New Beetle was my dream car since I was 7 and I got it as my first car 4 years ago, still going strong only after dropping quite a bit into repairs, but I'm committed to that little guy. I love it as much now as I did the day I got it and I still feel excited when I look out and see it in my driveway. Sadly most of the plastic inside in the interiors have snapped off and the door interiors are a lost cause. I'll have to hit up the junkyards to fix it up as finding parts for a car that old and unusual are near impossible, but it's the cutest little thing regardless. A heads up they are pretty high maintenance, but if you love them as much as I do and you have the income for it they are definitely worth it. Oil leaks are very common. My engine lasted until around the 150k miles mark, around the estimated lifespan, until it needed major repairs. Before that mark, the car ran like a dream. Now that I got it fixed, it runs even better than when I got it.

Cheers. Yeah my oil light came on the other day and found out that the engine had next to no oil in it, had to top it up, previous owner didn't use it that much before she sold it to me, needs about $1500 of work put into it to get it up to date again. New coolant hoses, new front tyres with an alignment, and finally cambelt and water pump. Once that is taken care of, I'm going to baby the heck out of it.

@@Azza95 Sounds similar to what I've had to do to mine. It honestly isn't that bad given the age of that car with how much that can go wrong with them. It's still going to be cheaper than buying a brand new one at a dealership though. My baby's one of my main motivators to push through college and get my bachelor's. Once I'm scoring the big bucks I'm gonna make him fabulous. Godspeed on your brand new Beetle journey

I still have mine but the spare parts are getting more expensive nowadays especially the plastic cosmetic ones.

This reminds me of a Barbie beetle I used to have as a kid lol. I used to love the Beetle as a kid. My Dad had 3 Og Beetles

I had a 2002 in that color, with a tan interior. Loved the car! I had it for 14 1/2 years, and got rid of it because of too many pricey problems, and my wife and I needed a car better suited for a family. One day I will have one again.

I have the same car in a TDI. These cars were engineered by Porsche, they have the engine from the Audi TT and it's like driving a roller-coaster. I also own a new C43 and my TDI Beetle is still my go to when I want to have fun behind the wheel. Keep your maintenance up, the gas models are not known for longevity. The transmissions are weak, but please do enjoy.

This makes me so happy to see. I bought mine in 2020 and I had wanted one since I was 3 years old. I have done so much to keep her on the road because she wasn't taken care of by the previous owner. I would advise you to check things to do with the cooling systems and ask to change the thermostat as a precaution, because these cars are mostly written off due to head gasket problems due to overheating, (I learned this the expensive and hard way). I hope you enjoy owning your dream car as much as I do and take good care of it

Cheers for that, yeah all the coolant hoses will need replacing so will ask for the thermostat to be replaced then, thankfully mine was taken care of by the previous owner, always had it serviced on time. Recently got mine serviced and it didn't cost more to service than my previous car so I am happy as a clam.

Update on the bug: 6 months into owning my Beetle. It was beginning to have issues and given my financial situation. I couldn't afford to keep it. I drive an nb MX-5 summertime and a 01 year beetle in winter . Both cars are I feel beautiful looking and a joy to drive .. perfect super value and head turner's . Who needs exotic expensive . ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️ Blessings to all from Ireland ☘️☘️☘️

I want you to know I drove it before I made the video, the engine wasn't cold. I would never do that to a cold engine or an engine that hadn't been driven. I only did that to show people the sound this car makes that made me want this car in the first place.

congrats for your car !!!! I had almost exacly the same sensation when i bought mine last year, drive him for me is fun and really a experience, love my 2008 black beetle, from Brazil. I have a video of him in my channel if you want to take a look. :)

love my white '00 gls beetle. Mine has the 2.0 inline 4 I've put a cold air intake in it and straight piped it. I've replaced the clutch, the entire cooling system, and the headlights with white led ones. I'm putting an aluminum wing on the back and an ebay turbo kit in it come next month. It is an actual ripper and I love taking it out for a ride edit: also yes the door handles rip right off, you can get replacements, it's just two screws in the door panel under those snap rivets. in US they run about 50 bucks unless you snag some from a salvage yard.

Is this a joke ? “The seats are good” ??? What ? The thing is trashed inside. Although the black door panels and lower dash etc are quite rare to have. I have a 2003 yellow tdi beetle and I love it.

How long you had this car and how many miles on your car

Brought the car on the 5th of July when it had 112,000kms, translating that into miles is only 69,000 miles. I've put 2,000kms on it in 2 months since I brought it.

It was properly something as dumb as a spark plug or coil on plug that was making the car misfire. Because I saw it the other day driving around, so it must of not been something as big as I thought it was. But given my financial situation, I could not afford to fix it before it's next WOF.
