to say i was shocked at how good this is, is an understatement, I was expecting some watered down Disney+ show, but this was awesome,s o faithful, and surprisingly high quality, instant classic

I watched the 1st 2 episodes and I LOVED it. That being said... 1. I was surprised at how mild they made Gabe. Itll make Sally look like a psychopath when she turns him to stone. 2. They didnt really show much of Anabeth and Percy bonding in camp, which is sad. Ofc theyll do that during their quest anyways, but her explaining him about the mythical world was really the start of their friendship and her intro 3. Clarisse is sick. Loved her

The only thing I wish was that they kept Annabeth true to her character. She is described physically most often in the books as having blonde hair and gray eyes. And it’s not just her, EVERY SINGLE CHILD OF ATHENA has those traits. That’s the only thing I wish they did differently, although I would also like Percy to keep the dark hair.

I was SO happy with this show! I don’t know how they did it but it looks just like I imagined! Are the characters exact? Nope! But then ACT and talk just like I heard them In my head so it feels so real to me! I love this adaptation!

I'm excited to binge watch all five seasons of Percy Jackson once they are all out to view. As a sad fan of the Percy Jackson movies who wished all of the Percy Jackson movies would have been made. I'm not down to commit myself to two seasons of Percy Jackson only to see it get canceled after a second season like the movies got canceled after the second movie.

I have mixed feelings. I am a huge fan of the series, I felt like the scenes were too rushed to actually get a good look at each character. Like the fight with Mrs. Dodds needed to be longer than a quick stab. You don't understand the danger or the tension, and why was Grover so in sensitive in the beginning?

I think Rick was directly involved this time.

My biggest gripe with this is the "childification" of it, not the fact that the actors are children because they are in the books, but the series just seems like the toned down version of the book. No abusive depiction of Percy's homelife, no brutality. I hope theyre gonna fix this and that the actors actually start acting because this is subpar and straight up bad in some instances

Honestly, I just watched the first two episodes, and I’m already disappointed. Even if this show is so far “more faithful” to the original source material, the first two episodes are mostly boring. The dialogue and exposition are clunky and the actors they’ve cast in several roles just don’t fit. The story feels way too rushed and important sections are omitted for seemingly no reason. This may not be as bad as the 2010 movie, but two episodes in and I really do not have high hopes for this series.

My only grievance so far is that gabe isn't hateable enough. He was unbearable in the books, but here he just seems like a generic unemployed dad, but a little more rude than usual. Edit: actually, Percy's actor is bad too. He watches his mom die and his reaction is a flat but loud "Mom." Instead of actually screaming.

DISCLAIMER: I'm not necessarily saying that the show is bad. I'm throwing hate for the sake of throwing hate. I'm simply expressing some criticisms I have with the show here. I know beginnings are hard, so please don't flame me in the replies. Honestly, these first two episodes were kind of underwhelming for me. I didn't get the same feeling for it when I read the books. I had REALLY high expectations for this show and it just didn't deliver. And yes I know that when you're making a TV adaptation, everything's not gonna transfer word-for-word from the books. That would be stupid. I want changes to be made. That being said, some of the changes it made were really jarring and rubbed me the wrong way. Such as: - How they sped up integral plot points like the Dodds Attack or Percy finding out he's a demigod. I would've loved to see riptide being used for the first time and the huge fight scene with Mrs. Dodds but we just get her pinning Percy down and then done... - I hate how they destroyed Annabeth's character. I can see what they were trying to go for but show Annabeth doesn't ring the same bells as book Annabeth did for me. I think Leah Sarah Jeffries is an amazing actress. When I saw the trailers, I had set in my mind, she fit the mold for Annabeth perfectly. But, the role she was given and her motivations were drastically and radically different from the books. The show made it seem like she wants to prove her worth and she's willing to go on a quest to get the glory. Sound familiar? That's CLARISSE'S goal in book 2! Now, mind you, the show did a MUCH BETTER job at conveying Annabeth's wisdom and intelligence making her actually feel like a daughter of Athena. The movies lacked in that department a lot. But, we don't see Annabeth and Percy interact for long enough in show runtime to build the foundation for their long-lasting friendship. At best, we get them on the same team of Capture the Flag but no real indication of them becoming good friends. - They give Annabeth's role in the beginning to Luke Castellan. He fills in the role of being Percy's best friend and he's the one to introduce this bizarre world to him at Camp Half Blood. I know it makes the betrayal at the end of the book more meaningful this way, but for the love of god YOU CAN'T SUBSTITUTE ONE CHARACTER'S PERSONALITY FOR ANOTHER'S! IT JUST DOESN'T WORK! - Sorry, that got a little heated. There are more points to discuss of why these first few episodes underwhelmed me but now I'll say some good things because there definitely were some like Grover, his character was perfect. I loved every bit when bro was on screen. He was a perfect character. Luke's character was good too, but the way they substituted it for Annabeth, well I've already discussed it. The action scenes were good. Not the best, but I still liked them and Sally's "death" scene was also executed pretty perfectly. But, yeah, I'd like to hear your thoughts about this and how you felt about this show so far. I still have hope for the rest of this show. I know beginnings are hard so I hope the PJO disney plus series will become the next Harry Potter and hopefully not a rehash of those movies that shall not be named. Also, Clarisse's character was fucking sick dude! She's so cool and actually feels like a minor antagonist. (school bully but whatever)

Amazing i love this series, it is the best example that when you have GOOD WRITTEN CHARACTERS and a team THAT CARES FOR THE IP come together disney is still capable of making magic. The main 3 actors are all wonderful and play the parts PERFECTLY.

As soon as i saw Clarisse and remembered they didnt even mention her in the movie, the series instantly became a whole lot better. Cant wait to see how much of the books they put in. Plus maybe maybe we see a camp Jupiter t-shirts in the background somewhere

I LOVED the first 2 eps. And the characters which I loved most were Grover, Luke and Clarissa. I wasnt disappointed like other ppl were with the casting because I trusted Rick's casting choices however I was kind of scared of how Clarisse was gonna be and I was so so happy with her performance, she was mean and arrogant and I loved her fight. And I friking loved Luke soooo much, he was charming and cool and his personality was exactly how I envisioned it when I read the books. The main trio was really cute too, and they didn't show much of their funny sides uptil now but I'm pretty sure we just have to wait for the other episodes, everything is so so so perfect I'm gonna love S2 I just hope they greenlight it

The portrayal is wonderful but I'm still salty about the characters. Like this is one series you did not need to do the representation of people of color stuff with, because anyone who's read the books knows that there're characters from all over world, every color and race in the series. Not being racist, but yeah, as someone who literally grew up reading this series, I was a little disappointed by the choices for some characters like Annabeth. She's meant to be a blonde haired white girl but she ain't here. No doubt the one playing Annabeth is real good at acting, but yeah, to just see a complete overhaul of the look of the character, ngl, didn't like that.

After watching the first 4 episodes the movie should of won an Emmy I really thought the show was going to be Faithful to the books as far as the story but it's not even close other than names and a few Easter eggs

As a die hard Percy Jackson fan, I was fuming at how they made the characters, I mean, Annabeth’s description was LITERALLY “ A pretty blond girl, taller than me” and Percy is supposed have black hair. There are sooo many mistakes that are in this series, but, oh well 😢

My main issue aside from the completely in accurate casting is the fudging of visual details. Percy is the only one with a helmet that fits, the shields are way too small and obviously plastic, the fact the weapons are blunt is put in close up etc. things that should’ve been fixed or not even allowed to happen. The acting is pretty good but the prop details are horrendous

This tv show is how im introducing my sisters to the full PJO story. They love the musical, as do i, we're all 3 adhd kids, and all three of us have at least one learning disabilities (dyslexia, dyscalculia, etc). My middle sister LOVES the show so far, and we're pumped for ep 4

I've only watched the first episode as of now but it's kind of meh. The pacing is awful, it's exposition heavy and the dialogue / delivery leaves a lot to be desired. It was an awful introduction which leaves me with low expectations going into the second episode.

The clarisse fight was hilarious she smacked him with a spear and then decided to do a spiking attack and try and hit him with the wooden part of the spear. Some of the plot points are changed but it’s still good a 7/10 for me

You may not remember the books but people who actually enjoyed the books and remember them will see that this adaptation is not a very good one. skips essential plots feels very rushed. Percy's in camp just one day and already got a quest. Sally character changes and Gabe's drastically. Same with grover throwing percy under the bus and plots beeing blurred and switched around and completely forgotten.

Maybe I have the unpopular opinion at the fact that I didn’t really love this series. I was a big fan of the books when I was younger and I don’t think this series is like them much at least so far. That being said I do like the way the show is made and the kid actors are great. I guess I was just hoping that it would be more like the books.

Im gonna be honest, I wasnt too happy with the show. It felt so rushed and I there was no tension for me personally because they knew who they were up against right away. In the books, they only found out who they were in greek mythology right before the fight. It made things more ominous for me and they're solutions were so much cooler to me because they didnt have a lit of time to think. I think it was ok tho but I just wish there was more.

So far I loved only Percy 's actor. He is good. But everything else is watered down. Sally , gabe ,Grover ,I just can't connect them with the book characters. And where are the action scenes. The fight with Mrs dotts and minotaur just didn't match. I don't think I can continue this. I re read the books so many times and this is such a bitter disappointment 😞

Why is this mediocre show getting so much praise? Yes, it tries to stay true to the books but there are so many issues. They literally throw all the information in your face once you see a new monster or character not to mention the pacing issues. Hell, they could have at least gotten Annabeth right, but no somehow a wig and contacts is too much for them. And let's talk about Annabeth, she's fucking stupid for a daughter of Athena. Why would she start shit with the police instead of just cooperating and not have them fucking detained? It literally isn't even that hard to explain to the police that they weren't in the room when it got messed up but noooo she wanted to give them attitude for literally asking them about their destroyed room. It makes no sense.

I was kind of letdown honestly, way too much exposition, no tension, the characters know everything somehow, barely any action until like the last episode, the writing does a disservice to the main 3 especially, Hades, the show just looks kind of bland too. It's also not really fun, I had more fun watching the 2010 movie. I dropped the show for a little bit after episode 6, finished the show after the finale aired. It has definitely has potential, but as of right now it doesn't really excite me. And the editing is distracting as hell sometimes.

In the 5 episode at the beggining the police there and all the people outside and no one is like where is the third kid that fall from the building. Like whaaat. Just looking at Groover and Annabeth being like they did this. People this are kids like what the fuck. No one is worried at all

I was excited til I saw Annebeth.

How? I was so dissapointed. Especially the casino. They’re rushing everything for no reason, making the characters see danger before they even walk into the trap, they sucked out the mystery of what was goong on in the first episode by having Percy’s mum explain everything to him. The jokes aren’t landing cus of the script and actors not getting the acting part right every time (this is the fault of the director thats guiding their acting, since they’re young and new to the role I’m sure they have one). The cgi isn’t great and doesn’t even look like they tried. The episode is literally named “taking a zebra to vegas” and there were no zebras in sight. I liked the first episode although very fast paced… but the rest was bad… too fast, not enough time to connect with the characters, I had a higher expectation for the embodiment of Annabeth since they aren’t going by her books description. I really trusted Rick when he said she was the embodiment of Annabeth Chase… I thought I was going to see it, just like I saw it with Hallie in the little mermaid. But I don’t see it. And I especially don’t see it with Percy either. They don’t embody the characters. The only good casting was Grover and a few other side characters such as Clarisse. I like Camp Half Blood a lot and what they made it look like. Which we spent at least 2 episodes there. The catching of the flag wasn’t good, it sucked the fun out of it and Percy was portrayed as useless instead of good when placed under pressure and at risk. In the books we find out he might not be the smartest as in Annabeth smart… but he always seems to risk things and come out on top because he’s quick at reacting to a problem but doesn’t think long term like Annabeth. Which is why they work so well as a duo. But instead we got to see Annabeth be smart and calculating only to lose that afterwards... and percy being terrible in a fight only to have him good at it later. I’m only watching in the hopes that it will get a better season 2. I’d rather they reshoot most of it and made the episodes longer so we had time to connect to the characters. And for the love of the series stop fan servicing and rushing Percabeth. It feels odd cus they’re 12 and suppose to hate each other at this time. And also I cannot imagine them in that way cus their characters lack chemistry because we didn’t get to spend more time with them. All the things they changed didn’t even improve the source material. Just made it worse. Hoping it gets better!

(MAJOR SPOILER WARNING) A disappointment is what this show is. As a BIG Pjo fan I believe that the series could do better on everything. I honestly hope this show fails after the 2nd season is released since sadly the 2nd season is happening. Casting - Percy looks like Will Solace, not Percy Jackson. Also his acting is bad. When his mom got crushed by the Minotaur, bro just stood there with no emotion on his face. Like wth. Grover's acting is just bad. He didn't seem like the saytr thats nervous and very connected to nature like the books. And Annabeth is not the Annabeth from the books. I prefer the 30 year old looking Annabeth from the movies because she was actually the RIGHT race. If you don't care what race the original characters are then let's make Hazel white in the HoO adaptation. Clarisse was perfect though. She is the only character that seemed like she came out of the book. Visuals - The visuals were kinda bad for a show that has a budget for 15 million per episode. You can tell the beach where they fight Ares is green screen. Also Olympus looks fake. Like other movies and shows were able to make their background look realistic and they had about the same budget as this show. Also the editing for Medusa looked bad. The 2010 movie Medusa looked better. Pacing - The show was WAY too fast. Each episode is 30 minutes long which is short for an episode. They only had 8 episodes. Like no wonder you can't fit everything in the show because the episodes are really short. Make each episode like an hour. They cut out important and small things that are RELEVANT and IMPORTANT to the story. Fight Scenes - The fight scenes were VERY embarrassing. Bro didn't even fight the fury in the beginning of the show, she just fell on him and the sword accidentally went through her. Like wth. And the fight with Ares was bad, I expected more. The Medusa fight scene felt short and not enough action. Changing original parts from the book - I don't know how the golden chair scene was so important that it needed to be replaced with Percy and Annabeth fighting spiders. The spiders seem more important because we learn that Annabeth is scared of spiders which is very important to know, especially for a HoO adaptation. But no, we get a boring golden chair scene with no action and no relevance to the story. Also Percy giving the master bolt to Zeus after the deadline was a huge mistake. Zeus said that after the deadline there will be war. It makes him look like a god who can't be taken seriously if he just sits around after the deadline not starting a war like he promised. Also the Lotus Casino scene was TRASH. Wth was Hermes doing at the Lotus Casino gambling!?!?!? He should be sending messages because that is his JOB. Also Percy, Annabeth, and Grover instantly knew something was wrong when they walked inside. Wow, a great way to ruin the SURPRISE. Instead of getting tricked by the magic in the casino, they look for Hermes (He wasn't in the casino in the books). Ruining Surprises - Percy, Annabeth, and Grover seem to know everything. They knew the Lotus Casino was a trap, they knew Crusty's waterbeds were a trap, and Percy found out that Luke was the villain without PROOF. The trio thought that Clarisse is the villain because she is the bully of the camp. The show did good with that until Percy somehow figured out Luke was the villain. The whole point was Luke trying to convince Percy to join his side. So basically Luke told Percy he was the villain in the book. But they changed it and ruined the element of surprise. I would like the end that the show did well on being a little more accurate than the movies. The movies messed up badly and the show fixed some mistakes. Even though this show is better than the movies, I still hope it fails. If that ever happens I hope for a 3rd adaptation if that's possible. But if not, then let's stick with the books.
