Hey Zach, what do you think is the most unexpected brutal death in any teen movie and just to be clear when I say teen movie, I mean movies centered around teens.

Cant wait to see it which I am doing tomorrow night with my girl. We have been fans since the 80's and the Franchises beginnings but Fury Road is unbelievable and this looks just as good.

The trailer looks really lame though, And the acting from Anya Taylor Joy and Chris Hemsworth was weird. This is not what I'm planning on seeing in theaters.

I’ve seen a lot of people hating on it unnecessarily. It’s definitely not for everyone, but for me it was refreshing to have an open ended movie, that is thought provoking. I feel like most movies nowadays just go A to B and explain everything the whole way for you

My daughter fell asleep during the movie. It's incredibly slow in the beginning and doesn't give kids anything to stick with it in the opening moments which is pretty crucial these days. For me as an adult I looked over at my wife 20 mins in and said "wtf is this movie about?". It didn't come together til the end, but even then in my mind I had so many questions and really felt the emotional depth was lacking. To explain I'd have to spoil, so I won't, but honestly this concept is a bit too heavy for kids and it's been done better in other media (I kill Giants).

This film feels like a cheap telenovela that revolves solely around one aspect of Amy's life - her love for Blake Fielder-Civil. However, I expect a musician biopic to tell me the development of the artist and their music. Amy Winehouse was funny, highly intelligent, brutally honest and, especially at an early age, a self-confident young woman who developed her own style and musical style. With Back to Black she achieved the fame she never wanted, and which was later responsible for her death, among other things. As a fan, you were horrified to see how her bulimia, the press, her drug and alcohol addiction and an environment that did not protect her but continued to exploit her (Mitch, her father, Raye Cosbert, her manager, Blake Fielder-Civil, her (Ex )-husband), drove her to her death. Amy Winehouse had a complicated personality that the film doesn't do justice to. Here Amy is shown as a self-absorbed and aggressive woman who doesn't evoke any sympathy from me. All of the characters are extremely one-dimensional; most of them don't even have any external resemblance to the living people. Except Mitch Winehouse, who in the film, unlike in real life, is always at her side. Marisa really tries to make the most of the role, but at no point did I buy Amy from her. Her vocal performance is also passable, it's a good thing Amy's music wasn't used, it would have been sacrilege. Important stages in Amy's life are simply left out (the recordings with Mark Ronson in New York of Back to Black - after all, the title of the film) or the Dap-Kings (her backing band in the USA). When she receives the Grammys, her acceptance speech simply omits her words: for my Blake, who is in jail. And so it goes on, it's twisted, times are changed, important events are misrepresented, e.g. it wasn't Blake who brought her to the girl groups, but Amy discovered her on her own, as did the iconic Beehive that came from her, and not, as in Portrayed in the film by her grandmother Cynthia. Blake's arrest took place in a different apartment, etc. Add to that the countless mistakes in the clothing and shoes, it all just seems cheap. The biggest outrage occurs at the end of the film: Amy had written Back to Black about Blake when he left her and she slipped into depression. Here it is presented as if the song had to do with her grandmother's death! The entire film shows how little respect or knowledge the producers have for Amy and her music. I can only recommend Asif Kapadia's film: Amy - The Girl behind the Name to everyone, which showed Amy as she was. There are also many good concerts of hers on KZfaq such as the North Sea Jazz Festival (2004) or Dingle (2006).

My wife died of cancer 3 months ago. If I had known the movie was going to start out that way I’d have never gone to see it. THIS IS NOT A FUN KIDS MOVIE! The trailer is extremely deceptive. You will cry more than laugh. I haven’t been this emotionally distressed since my wife’s memorial. If you’ve experienced in tragedy in your life recently, this will simply dredge it up against your will. I do not recommend this unless you’re into emotionally painful tearjerkers. I guess some people are. My daughter has quickly forgotten it in a matter of hours thank goodness, but only go see this if you want to see your child cry, which in turn will make YOU cry.

I just saw this film today. I cried in the theater. I could see Bea’s struggle with trying to be strong in the face of life and loss all while still being a child. Her dad is goofy and full of life even in the face of something hard. I know we don’t find out exactly what happened to her dad, and it’s more implied, but that journey of Bea becoming more playful and meeting all the imaginary friends and trying to help while feeling lost made me emotional. Even if we grow up, that spark of childlike wonder and creativity should stay. I’ve done a lot of things that I guess most 18 year-olds wouldn’t be able to say they’ve done. But I still feel like a child at heart. And I don’t think that’ll ever go away. What solidified that for me was when Bea realized that Blossom was her grandmother’s old imaginary friend. Seeing her play the record she once danced to as a dancer with Blossom dancing with her and spreading her wings had me in tears. 😭 I know someone would say it’s silly, but it’s true. In a way this story felt like it was told through the eyes of a child.

Unfortunately, I didn't think it was a finished, polished product. Did they run out of ideas of how to finish? It just didn't deliver. Wait until it's $3 or included in your subscription.
