When I was a kid we would run trap lines for nuisance control as well as extra $. When we trapped skunks we would use a syringe to extract the essence, and then bottle it and sell it (it has been used as a base for perfumes, it's also great for practical jokes!). There's a learning curve to injecting a stink sack. And now and then one would break open and get all over. After a while you get used to it. I don't trap anymore, but now every time my brothers and I happen to smell skunk we say "smells like money". Our wives hate that saying.

Which is what the first wikipedia page showed. However after a bit of research, any predators urine can work, because they are strong smelling. As a matter of fact, the reason Tyler's coyote urine is so dark is because the urine is further concentrated by the company that produces it. And Tyler's reaction is exactly how rodents will act when they smell this, it will repel animals that coyotes prey on

There was something viscerally unpleasant about him draining the leather jar. Just knowing it was urine and it being that red. Actually got mildly queasy.

Im sure somebody has said this already, but about the leather... the term "Tan leather" means to turn hide into leather with a "tanning process" back in the day they used natural bark, tree nut husks, and even urine to make hide into leather because if the tannins within it. They weren't dieing or darkening leather with urine lol

After working with anhydrous ammonia, I can smell this video. The coyotes probably weren’t dehydrated, the nitrogen in the protein in the urine is being converted to ammonia from being in bottles for so long.

Soaking skins in urine made the skin more supple and easier to work with, urine also makes it easier to remove the hair and other fibres.
