Always start a business on the side (in an ideal world) before leaving a job that pays the bills. They’ll always be an element of “a leap of faith” but calculated risks are better than “risks”.

That is what most people do. Then if their business is successful and they do the math and they would make more money if they quit their job and did their side hustle full time, they then and only then quit.

I quit my my job as an RN last two years ago after almost 16 years in the field. It was not an easy decision, but life is too short to dread going to work everyday. No amount of money can buy real happiness, but friends I'm not asking you to resign from your job or abandon your business but be wise!

I have found this channel literally 3 days ago and I binged atleast 20 Episodes already. I am astonished by how much one can learn about behaviour, thoughts, feelings, by just listening to others be open about their problems and issues and downfalls. I have done alot of self reflection and thinking about my childhood and the traumas stemming from it and affecting my life, my relationship, and everything around it. I live in Austria and my fiance is in the US. I will be visiting them in the first quarter of 2023 again, and I was curious if there was any way an austrian guy, with a US sim card, would be able to be part of this great show, and tell my story to just speak about what I can or should do, to get some different views on...everything going on in my life.

Why do people leave jobs to start businesses? Keep the day job and start business on side until concept is proven to be profitable. This just seems like a recipe for anxiety

Starting a business is like investing in stocks. Never use money you are afraid to lose. Everyone now seems to think they can be an entrepreneur but have no idea the struggles it takes to make it work and believe they will be the 1 out of 10 that will succeed.

this is why i dont take all these phony entrepreneur channels who tell everyone to quit there jobs to start a business seriously ....running a business is a very hard and also a huge gamble , im not telling you cant follow your dreams but you have to know the risk and all work you have to do to become successful in your business , also there is no shame in working a stable 9-5 that pays well , most of the world depends on people who work those 9-5 jobs

No risk no reward. I'm 24 years old I quit my JOb 1 month ago and I my buisness failed big time, I might get another 9-5 temporarily and try again because I am not a quitter I will keep on doing this until I get there.

Married + House + Left Job to start a business. This is just a string of extremely poor choices. You have to plan better if you now have a mortgage to worry about. Could have worked on the side with his cleaning business until it reached a point where he felt comfortable going all in 24/7. Could have deferred the house and rented with much less risk of failure if he insisted on quitting his job and going full time. Now he's stressed beyond belief, beyond what his job he used to have gave him. Work will always be work. Don't leave a job because you aren't passionate about it or hate it. Change your mindset on something required to live daily - work. You can certainly change it or try to move up or start your own thing, but realize there is planning and risk involved with all that and you need to think it through and make sure you know what you're getting into and what you have to fall back on. These days at the very least try to have 6-9 (9 ideally) months of emergency fund in savings ready to pull if the worst happens. That's plenty of time to find your footing again and get back to earning. Now you have a safety net and can start introducing more risk into your life if you choose to.
