The cool thing to do is try for the 500hp. I mean I'm on the outside looking in but you said you weren't sure or not if you should put that much money into it because you don't need that much hp and you didn't think it would be a financially smart move. Well if your only pulling a lawn mower you could have got a s10 a lot cheaper. You didn't need that truck and it was a horrible financial decision to buy it and put all that money into it already. But you did it anyway because it was cool so you might as well go all the way with it even if it takes a while to save the money.

It's about 2500-3000 grand in parts to hit 500-600, a good size single, set of stage 3 injectors from dynamite diesel, governor springs, Mack rack plug, delivery valves, valve springs and head studs with 19-22* of timing. You can hit 400 with a tick turbo but have high egts.

If i were you i would not put a stack in your bed seeing how you use your truck. if you put stuff in the bed of haul stuff it will get soot everywhere and whenever youre in the bed or you store stuff in the bed you will get soot on yourself/stuff its a battle you simply cannot win (ive tried) another alternative would be to put a chrome stack as a tip on your exhaust and cut accordingly just some thoughts but do what youd like a stack would for sure look and sound good just some cons id thought id enlighten you about if you didnt already know. also great vid

I got a 99 7.3 bought it 3 months ago extended cab, cab and chassis dually with an aluminum flatbed. Bought it very cheap done a lot of work to make it look good and had to do a lot of catch up maintenance on the truck. Replaced every fluid that runs through every vein of the truck. Bought it with 310,000 I got about 330,000 on it now. I'm not towing heavy with it but I got simple mods that wake the truck up and thats all it needs and thats most likely all it will get for the time being.

If you want to put a goerend built trans, hands down the best 2nd gen Cummins transmission built, get a hold of me. I had a suntoast that couldn't even hang, nor the Tim barber built one that came with when I bought it. Firepunk is cheap and you get what ya pay for, lavon knows his stuff, but his gets the most attention, the tow master barley tows it's weight! I can get in house, built by Dave Goerend, the best transmission hands down! Plus all mentioned, use his parts in their transmissions! Only down side, it you want the best, it takes a month or two to get it finished. Well worth it and I have never had to look back!

All the things your thinking about at the end of the video was spot on. Sounds like you listening to your dad. Good for you. 350 RWHP is respectable for that truck. Any more and you will need to save up lots of money. You could buy lots of of other things that would be fun as well. Above 350RWHP you need a 24 valve 5.9 or 6.7 common rail if you don't want to be poor. IMO Less smoke and better transmission options. Easier to do and lots more part choices. I know P-PUMP will do more HP. It can't with out being really smoky and hard to drive. Not sure why your in a hurry to leave home. But once you do your FUN money will be much tighter unless your moving to a tiny house.😉

I did have a black toolbox like your buddies when I bought my truck and I liked it but I got rid of it because the stuff I had in there fits in a cat litter box and I'd prefer to be able to get my dirtbike in there with the tailgate closed. But if I had enough stuff to put in a toolbox I would have kept it

Not sure if anyone has told you for your truck and your dads truck about the tappet cover gasket. 12v are known to leak oil from their.

Can't beat a 12v for the $. Mechanical engines, so much easier to maintain. They still produce brand new 12valves. Ur big generators or water pumps and medium equipment all have 12 valvers

you know its much better for the engine to warm it up by lightly driving it then it is to just sit there and idle. contrary to popular belief it is NOT good for diesels to sit and idle

thats perfect. if it sits outside in the freezing cold then yes, let it run for a few min. but in the summer time. i start my 24v and my 12v up put my seat belt on, adjust the radio, put it in gear and go

Truck looking good as usual just did 4th gen mirrors on my 94! I do want to recommend you install at least a 6637 intake if you don't have a intake yet. Napa pt #6637 delete the airborne and put the new filter on. Helps the truck breathe wayyy better! Have you taken the silencer ring out yet?

My 12v is currently getting its transmission built again I’m 8k in parts and labor lol don’t do it mines pushing stupid power and I daily it and tow with it all the time and once you go to the point of power/reliability it gets expensive and time consuming to make it reliable plus the shop has to know what there doing weakest point of my truck is it’s 47re and I have the strongest beefiest shit you can buy and I get 2-3 years out of a transmission about 100k before it blows
