I love the shot at 1:15. She looks in the mirror and only sees the fancy suit, with the face invisible. At that moment, Django represents an idea that transcends any form of race or skin color, and that idea is vengeance.

This clip needs to start 5 seconds earlier when Django asks "They whippin' Lil' Jody?" Says it like he has known Lil Jody all her life, and walks double-time to stop the act. Shows that Django isn't only driven by vengeance. There is also justice. He is a hero.

The reason this scene is satisfying is bc John Brittle told Django “I like the way u beg boy” after begging to not whip his wife after they ran off the plantation when he was slaved.

That look of shock and recognition on Brittle's face just before he keels over is priceless. My favorite part is after Shultz kills the third Brittle brother and Big Daddy rolls up with his locked and loaded posse...Schultz's "Everybody just calm down," said in the same tone of voice as if he had just accidentally tipped over a pitcher of lemonade onto the carpet. 😂😂

10 Years later, This is still my favorite moment in a, Quentin Tarantino. film library. Django Freeman is a badass, As well Dr. King Schultz. I love these two.

I love how Tarantino remixes history. There's something so satisfying and horrific knowing the horrors of the past but watching them rewritten.

A girl is swinging on a swing (yea, I know) while a sister is getting whipped. Says a lot. But beating someone for accidentally dropping and breaking eggs - who is already a nervous wreck because.... - is beyond savage. Justice comes in many layers.

Considering this is Django's first bounty, he really does a bang-up job of it. He kicks the gun away, he nails the dude right in the chest, he reacts super fast to the guy pulling the gun. Kid's a natural, all right

I think my favorite part of this scene is that, when Jodie looks into the mirror for who her savior is, the dirty mirror only shows the body, not the face, further adding to the "legend" of Django. Thats how I see it anyway.

I only just realised, Django's reflection in the mirror at 1:15 has no head. Not sure if it's dirt/grease or Tarantino having his fun and removing it in post - to show how the brothers didn't recognise the slaves as people? That's he's a faceless hero? That Jody, craning to see, can only see the clothes and not the man? The mirror reflection is definitely on purpose, so there's something being said there, but I don't know what.
