Almost right after the advertisement, Riley drives the Jeep to where it is thoroughly stuck and need the excavator to extract it? Really? Are wise decisions a better insurance policy than the alternative? I normally don't comment in this manner. But insurance in my mind is for IF something happens, NOT WHEN one puts oneself at risk by choice.

FWIW: Don't use dry chem extinguishers on equipment because the dry chem is extremely corrosive. best option is a water extinguisher or a CO2. However CO2 does not work as well as water. I recommend keeping a 5 gallon can full of water strapped to machinery so you always have water available, especially if you working in grass that can sometimes catch fire when operating machinery. FYI: not trolling, just trying to provide some useful information from experience.

You might add. Just because you can buy equipment, doesn't mean you know how to use it correctly. Each time the dozer blade , jabs the rock side it stress the whole system. 5000 psi hot hydraulic fluid push to one side with a increase of PSI, will blow valve banks. Hurt the hydraulic static controllers. I used to drive a rail road ballast cleaner. 380 feet long, 3 lines of joy sticks, Dozens of pressure gauges, had 3 radios on at all time as I drove, it standing back wards, with 20 foot tall digging wheels 2 feet from my A cab windows, where I climed up 15 feet up a ladder to get to my cab. Point is , there fun to watch, yes R, is smart. But they have no clue what there doing., digging below the ,ega pond aka lake, spring up water from it. He didn't fix the slope. He built in the winter.....a ice truckers slide. Snow and rain fill pond over flow, make the new road a river. Then freeze, wow, talk about sliding. They might add a tow, rope like a ski hill, and charge for rides.

Don't worry about the water level in the pond. Just make sure you have a ditch on that side of the road to let any water that comes to the surface flow down without coming up on the road surface.

agreed, and with a culvert it should be fine. By the way, if there is that much water, maybe you found a spring. it is ALWAYS nice to have extra water! I just found another spring in one of my canyons yesterday. I have a few thousand gallons of water a day now, but nice to find another, (probably another 2000 gallons a day)

Definitely need to get a pre-buy inspection on those old track hoes, it will be the best $350-$500. You will never spend Those old Hitachi’s are nothing but trouble. Slow pumps and weak pumps are the norm. Normally caused by pump outlet pressure sensor. But sometimes the electrical is so bad on the late 90’s up to 2015 models it’s hard to get even the sensors to work anymore. So when all of that happens, it makes the drive motors weak and it cost more to fix them, and the machine is worth, so they get sold as “ good weekend machines” and they barely even have enough power to load on the trailer.

Stumbled on to your channel while looking at old dozer stuff, I’m an old equipment operator and cut my teeth on an old 65 D6, I’m not easily impressed, but … I’M IMPRESSED. Equipment will try your patience and sanity. You have renewed my confidence in a generation that I had almost given up on. Your attitude ,tenacity, and patience towards machines and their needs is inspiring and to be commended! I’ve always treated mine as if they were family members, talking to them and treating them to fluid treats and regular maintenance , they’ll love you for it. Sounds crazy, I know , but give it a whirl, you might be surprised. I’ve been binging on your vids and they have been great fun to watch from a perspective of “been there done that “ as far as breakdowns and “break ins “ (windshield/door ..glad Courtney was not injured!! , but nothing takes the place of experience and learning from “butt in the seat” moments.) Enjoying channel and thanks again for Generation Restoration, You guys are hard workers and when you look back when you’re older at all your accomplishments, we’ll.. that’s a feeling you’ll never forget. Thanks again and …to be continued… Over and out.👍

Hey Riley, whenever you buy a new, used machine of any kind one of the first things you must do is clean it, pressure washing with a good degreaser is the best plan. Doing this helps so much in preventing unwanted machine fires. I'm happy you didn't lose your machine but please put safety first!! Having an Extra fire extinguisher is also helpful considering your location. Great videos.

even at 15% grade you still will need to have a couple of piles or mounds of sand on hand during the winter months to sand the hill. And, as i said b4 you will need to scrape that snow and ice down as much as possible on occasion and more often as spting is around the corner so your road is not as muddy and dries out faster.
