A 3/8 '" fine thread nut will thread over the end of the valve stem also, and a warm tire setting it out in the sun, will conform much easier to the rim rather than a cold tire. Pete you are so lucky to be able to work with your dad! I miss mine dearly.

Good tip to deflate the tube to allow it is relax and realign itself inside the tire. Pigs are growing fast now. Restoring that old 1 ton and making it a refrigerated box truck would make a great truck to haul your food to the farmers market.

Pete. What i usually do with the tube as well and tire is coated it with baby powder helps it from getting caught and pre-maturely wearing (from my experience) than ripping.

Hey Pete. Next time you need to put tubes in something try this trick. Before you put the tube inside the tire, blow it up a bit and sprinkle a generous amount of baby powder on it. Deflate the tube and install it in the tire and rim. The baby powder acts as a dry lubricant and allows the tube to expand and conform to the tire and rim much easier and helps to prevent tears on your new tube. And as an added bonus, if you ever need to repair the tube, it will have a lovely fragrance to it. Lol!

When mounting a tire with a tube, it is best to have the valve stem on the opposing side of the rim so you are not putting stress on the tube valve stem against the tire bead.

I learned to drive in a 1951 International pickup. Dad bought it new in 51 and we kept it for many years and used it on the farm. Great truck. We lived on a dirty road in South Georgia and when it rained a lot the roads would rut up pretty bad. The muffler would get dragged of by the mud and Dad grew tired of this so he welded a straight pipe with no muffler and that served the purpose. I enjoy your channel, it brings back a lot of memories.

Nice truck and would be a nice winter project to get it road ready. My suggestion would be to put a stake bed on it and use it to take to the farmers market with farm name and you tube channel for free advertising. That way you can keep the freezers on the truck( run extension cords to coolers)and not have to unload them every time and just unload what you need into the coolers. I like the wide variety of topics you have on your channel and the jokes are dad jokes and are hilarious.

That's a nice old Infernal Harvester truck. A Mercedes Benz diesel would be a nice fit in there, and it would be a mechanical injection if you got one from an early 80's (OM617). It's a 5 cylinder 134 HP engine. It would make a nice truck for a camper.
